Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Got a job so easily

" Before that, can I see the room? I would like to see the condition of the room, if that is okay with you."

Donnie smiled. "Of course. Your room is on the third floor. The second floor is also empty, but we are not renting it because my cousin, Dr. Greece Fonsi will be living on the second floor with his wife and two children."

She gestured Railey to take Komaru on the third floor.

Railey nodded. She along with Komaru went to the third floor through the lift.

As they both arrived on the third floor, Railey took out the keys to the room and unlocked it.

Railey stayed outside the room, while Komaru entered it.

He immediately took in the details of his new home.

First was the main hall. The walls were painted in Yellowish-Orange colours. There were a few paintings on the wall.

An AC was pre-installed in the room. There were some paintings hanging on the walls.

The floor was made of the same marbles used in Donnie's room.

Komaru then went in the other rooms. He first checked the bedroom. He was surprised to see that the bed was the same as the bed in the train!

After checking the kitchen and bathroom, he was satisfied with his new home.

This room is really good. I won't be surprised if the rent was more than 40 cinders per month.

He then went outside the room. Together with Railey, he went to the first floor to discuss the price.

"I hope you are satisfied. Me and my husband had a dream of building a house which could be considered as a quasi-luxurious house."

"Your dream has been accomplished." Komaru smiled. "May I know more about your husband?" Komaru asked while taking his seat.

"My husband's name is Chris Dogas. He is the head of Matalop's Architectural Department. His annual salary is 900 cinders. But around 200 cinders gets spent in maintaining the house."

Is she flexing on me? Her expenditure is more than what I have... Komaru sighed silently. He knew that the lady infront of him was much more wealthier than he had thought.

In Matalop, managers of big companies are usually the ones who have very high salary, excluding the shareholders in those companies.

Aside from them, lawyers and engineers also earn pretty highly, around 500 cinders per annum.

This is the complete opposite in Delergen, where Komaru came from. There, lawyers would earn the highest, possibly because of the amount of crimes being committed being much higher than Matalop.

"Is he not home today?" asked Komaru.

"Yes. Usually at this time, he is free. But due to an urgent meeting, he had to go."

After a few seconds of silence, Donnie continued, "The rent usually costs about 50 cinders per month. But seeing that you are showing your faith so much is very inspiring to me. Thats why, I will lower the rent to 15 cinders for you." As she spoke, she smiled gently.

50 cinders to 15 cinders? Isn't this a little too generous? By faith, she probably means my determination in going on the leaderboards...

"I am extremely grateful for your kindness. I accept this price." Komaru smiled back.

"Great. You will have to pay 5 cinders as advance. After paying, your luggage will be transported to your room. You don't need to do anything else."

Komaru took out five one cinder notes and gave it to Mrs. Donnie. After paying, Komaru asked if he could go to his room.

Donnie nodded. Komaru then went to the third floor throught the lift. As he settled down, Railey came outside his room with the blue suitcase.

Komaru took the suitcase and kept it infront of him, after closing the door and thanking Railey.

I nearly frowned when Mrs. Donnie said that Railey will bring 'my' suitcase...

Hopefully Mrs. Donnie did not open 'my' suitcase-what am I even thinking? Even if she did, she will think of me as a person who loves birds...

She is really generous to me. 15 cinders feels way too cheap. I was even prepared to hear the price be 60 cinders.

Anyways, now that I have a proper home in Matalop, I need to get a high paying job, or else I can say goodbye to the leaderboards.

Lets go outside first. I need to buy some food. On my way, I will inquire about good jobs in Matalop.

With that thought, Komaru got up. He opened the main door, and left his home. He locked the door properly.

He went outside the building and started aimlessly wandering around the street.

Stupart street is really clean. Its a lot cleaner than Farukan...

Farukan was the village in Delergen, where Komaru lived.

The government sure spent a large amount on Matalop, but spent jackshit on cities like Delergen. Seeing the Stupart street, he couldn't help but critisize the government.

Cities like Matalop, which had a much higher population than a city like Delergen, is bound to be more developed.

In terms of development, Matalop is only second to Cascane City. Cascane city has the highest population in Grazinas, which is 12 million.

Even in terms of area, Cascane city is the largest. But a vast majority of people prefer Matalop over Cascane city, because of the lower pollution and much more freedom in choosing a religion.

In Cascane city, most of the people believe in God of Happiness Bazeira. The churches there don't even allow people who follow other religions to get in.

In Matalop, it is entirely the opposite. Infact, most of the people in Matalop believe in God of Friendship Shegor. But the churches in Matalop did not discriminate based on religion. They allowed all kinds of people to enter the church.

Komaru reached a shop selling food. He greeted the shop owner, "Good Afternoon, my name is Komaru, I am looking to buy some food."

The shop owner, who had black eyes and black hair, who looked to be in his 40s, smiled and replied, "Good afternoon, my name Xavier Zent. It looks like you are a new here?"

"Yeah. I just came to Matalop from Delergen today. I live in the 3rd floor of house number 3/12."

"Oh, in Donnie's building? Thats good. Anyways, what would you like to buy?"

"What do you suggest?"

"My suggestion is the Alsern wheat flour along with a few vegetables like Darole and Speagus. They are cheap and can also give a lot of nutrients. The alsern wheat costs 35 Ryn per kilogram. Darole costs 15 Ryn, and Speagus costs 20 Ryn."

Upon hearing the prices, Komaru smiled and said, "Give me 1 kilogram of all these. Uh..heres 60 Ryn." Komaru took out six 10- Ryn notes and gave it to Xavier.

Xavier proceeded to give Komaru the stuff he bought. Komaru then asked, "Sine I am new here, I want to get a job. Can you suggest me good jobs to take? I want a job that is relatively easy and pays decently."

Xavier thought for a moment and said, "Something that is easy and pays good...Yes, why don't you try becoming a crime reporter for the police? Its not that difficult. All you have to do is take note of crime details and report it to the police. It also pays handsomely, uhh... around 500 cinders per year."

A crime reporter...that sounds a little dangerous, but its not like it can kill me. 500 cinders is a really good annual salary. Also, I can possibly get chances to know about certain Artifacts and stuff...

"A crime reporter is exactly what I wanted to be. Thank you for your suggestion." Komaru sincerely bowed his head and bade farewell to Xavier.

With the stuff in his hand, he went straight to his home. He kept the stuff inside, locked the room and once again went out, this time on the notice board.

As he saw the notice board, he found a few posters about hiring for a crime reporter. Komaru took a look at one of the posters and noted down the address.

"The police station is at the far end of 13 Stupart street...Its not that far from here. I can get there on foot in about 20 minutes." Komaru started walking to the police station.

After 20 minutes, he reached the police station and entered it.

He greeted the nearby policemen and guards before meeting the policeman sitting on the desk.

"Good afternoon. My name is Komaru Wilson and I am here after seeing the job poster at the notice board. I am new in Matalop so I wanted to get a good paying job."

Upon seeing Komaru, the policeman, who wore a dark blue coat with black pants stood up and replied, "Good afternoon. My name is Amane Ryota, and I am the head of the police department. Its good to hear that you want to take this job."

Ryota looked the same age as Komaru. He had short black hair and golden eyes. He had a perfectly shaped nose and a height of around 195 centimeters. He was extremely handsome.

If this guy was not a policeman, I bet he would be a model, one who every girls fall for...in comparison to him, I look ugly. Komaru sighed.

Although Komaru did not look bad, infact, he also looked pretty handsome. But infront of Ryota, his looks were clearly inferior.

Ryota continued, "Please take a seat. I will tell you the details of this job. Would you like something to drink?" He gestured for Komaru to sit.

Komaru replied, "I appreciate your kindness, but I don't want anything."

Ryota smiled, "As a crime reporter, you will be given the location of the crimes committed in Matalop. Your job is to go to the crime spot, take note of all the details of the crime and report back to me. Also, any crime you encounter by chance should also be reported to me. As for your salary, you will be paid 50 Cinders per month. Don't worry, your salary will increase over time, and since I am fucking rich, I can give you some money whenever you want."

What a weird way to flex! But its okay, if he says that he will pay me, then I don't see any problems.

"I am very grateful for your kindness. So, am I hired?"

"Yes, you are hired. But before I go into the specifics, I need to know if you have done the ritual for your Principle. If so, what grade your Principle is."

Komaru hesitated before saying, "I did the ritual just a few days ago, so my grade right now is only at the lowest, which is Nascent."

Hearing this, Ryota smiled once again. He replied, "That won't be an issue. I only wanted to confirm your grade. Anyways, your work will start from tomorrow. Here, this is my number. You can call me if you have any inconvenience. Also, from tomorrow, you will have to come in this police station. Every week, you will be given atleast one task."

Komaru nodded, "Yes, I got it." He took the card which Ryota gave to him. After giving Ryota his number aswell, he returned home.
