Chapter 8 - This is War

"This is a great opportunity for you, Emily. Without connections, you know it's difficult to find a job in hospitals." Her mother found it hard to understand.

"I know, mom. I just don't want to work in the medical industry anymore. I want to try other new jobs. Mom, you know I'm very grateful that my aunt still thinks about me. I appreciate her kindness, but I really don't want to work in the hospital." Emily replied.

Now that she got a second chance, she wanted to live big. Live her life beautifully.

"If you don't want to work in a hospital, what do you want to do? Lou studied nursing, so working in a hospital is the best option for you." Her mother's thinking was still relatively traditional.

In her opinion, if you study nursing, you should work in a hospital.

Her mother didn't have any high expectations of her. As a girl, she should find a stable job and live her life happily. But how could she live happily ever after working in a hospital?

"Mom..." Emily dragged out the last word and took her mother's arm, "Who said one can't change careers? I'm still young, so let me try a new job. I want you to believe in me. No matter what industry I'm in, I will definitely try my best to the fullest."

Her mother had never been able to deal with her, especially when she acted like a spoiled brat and cute to her at the same time.

"Blimey, there's really nothing we can do about you." Her mother raised her hand and poked Emily's forehead, asking, "Tell us what your plans are."

"Well, let's keep it secret for now." Emily answered shyly.

Her father smiled, looked at his wife and said, "Just let her play at home for a while longer."

It seemed that her father thought that she didn't want to go to work in the hospital because she didn't want to waste her best years of youth in the hospital.

But he was right, Emily thought. She couldn't waste her youth working in a hospital. She had a destiny in this life: to become a big star in the future.

She chatted with her parents for a while. It was getting late, so she said her goodnight and went back to her bedroom to get ready for bed.

She had just turned off the lights and was lying on the bed. In the dim room, the screen of her mobile phone suddenly lit up, accompanied by the sound of familiar music.

It seemed a little abrupt in such a quiet night.

She raised her hand and grabbed the phone from the bedside table, and it showed an unfamiliar phone number.

At first, she thought it was a call from Aurora Media, so she didn't answer it. But the person on the other end of the phone seemed very patient and kept calling over and over again without getting tired of it.

She picked up the phone and pressed the answer button, and said impatiently, "Hello, what is it?"

"Emily, it's me, Jasper." A male voice came from the microphone, the voice was a little hoarse.

Listening carefully, it seemed to be Jasper's voice.

"Uncle? How can I help?" Emily asked. Judging from his voice, he must be drunk.

"I didn't mean to disturb your rest." He spoke coherently and his mind was clear. "I will be going to the county to work in a few days, and I won't be available for a while. So, I'm thinking about the dinner offer mentioned. Do you have time tomorrow night?"

Emily pursed her lips, hesitated for a moment, nodded, and replied, "Okay, tomorrow."

But she was thinking that maybe when he sobered the following day, he wouldn't remember anything about it.

Jasper was also very happy to see that she agreed, and at the end he said, "See you then."

Emily hung up the phone and went to bed. She had a good sleep and wonderful dream the whole night.

The next morning, the first thing she did after getting up was to open her laptop computer and check the latest updates on Instagram.

The entire screen was instantly flooded with news, and many users left private messages. Even local media got involved and asked if she would be willing to be interviewed by them.

At this time, she already had 30,000 followers on Instagram, and the number of reposts had reached 4,000.

She smiled to herself, knowing that the time was almost right.

Immediately afterwards, she wrote a long Instagram post, explaining the whole story very clearly.

There was a hint of innocence and grievance between the lines, and she even mentioned the local authority, saying that if she hadn't met member of the police force, the consequences would have been unpredictable for her.

Within just a few minutes of posting it, nearly a thousand people reposted it on Instagram. Including the previous reposts, the number had reached five thousand.

She sighed in admiration. This was truly an information age.

In the living room, her mother had already prepared breakfast and the air was filled with a sweet aroma of deliciousness.

She called out twice, but no one responded. She guessed maybe they had left for the restaurant.

Anyway, she had nothing to do these two days, so she planned to think about the food delivery carefully.

After finishing breakfast, she took the dishes to the kitchen to wash them, and then went back to her room to take care of some things.

She had just returned to the bedroom when her mobile phone rang. She pressed the answer button and heard James Lindemann's angry voice on the receiver, which almost deafened her.

"You crazy bitch. Listen carefully, if you know what's good for you, you'll delete your Instagram post right away..." Mr. Lindemann gritted his teeth and said, "...otherwise, ypu'll live to regret it."

Here they come again. Besides threats and intimidation, what else could they come up with? Emily thought, shaking her head. "Mr. Lindemann, please calm down. You are the CEO of Aurora Media after all. How can we talk when you are so emotional?"

"Have you lost your damn mind?"

"Lost my mind? If I've lost my mind, I would have recorded your words just now. Don't forget, my phone has a recording function, and I still have an Instagram account."

"Are you threatening me with some recordings? Do you think a little rat like you can bring me, James Lindemann, down? Let's wait and see. But I can assure you that you'll pay the price for your actions." Mr. Lindemann said harshly.

"So, it's war of words now? Then just wait and see. I, Emily Sanders, will ruin your reputation." Emily said and hung up the phone with disdain. This is war!

As for the media's request for interviews, she would ignore them for now. The most important thing right now was to plan the restaurant business well.

After all, she had a certain understanding of the future food delivery industry.

She started by planning the flyer and trying to make it as eye-catching as possible, with headlines like "Phone Ordering", "Free Delivery", "Group Purchase Gifts", and so on.

She had a bit of knowledge about minor graphics design when she was in college, so designing a flyer for her parents' restaurant should not be a difficult task.
