Alexandra's POV—
"His 'harem,' I guess he is trying to fulfil his hidden desires," I said. It's basically what he wanted in his whole life. Be surrounded by women, who would submit themselves to him. A category of people, that think themselves equivalent to an ugly person, but when given the chance, they would show their 'real' selves. And he was living in a huge illusion about being the 'chosen one.' If that was the case, wouldn't the male leads and the protagonist should be considered as the chosen ones instead?
"You are correct. All his life, he waited for this moment," agreed Shimran. I couldn't agree less with her words.
"… And he seized it, the moment it started," added Jessie.
Henrich's ability is fire. Like me, he must have a cooldown period. If I manage to deplete all of his tank, then it would be over in an instant.
[Will you kill them?]
'What's with your obsession with 'killing?' In the previous world, your obsession with me killing people, hasn't diminished a bit.'
[You don't want to take revenge on them? They humiliated you and have planned to use as a breeding cow.]
'I don't really care. I don't have to kill them. My purpose is to escape from here and I will succeed in it.'
[What about these women?]
'I will help them as well. These… women haven't yet been tainted by the evil clutches of the apocalypse. Sure, some are a bit aggressive but they are not morally bad. Also, they are the first people in this world with whom, I had a civil conversation. They are friendly too, I mean… in their way, that is.'
[Let's see how long can you keep this up.]
'You don't have to worry. I will keep this up until, you abandon the idea of me killing people meaninglessly.'
Suddenly, someone snapped their fingers in front of me, forcing me out of my internal conversation with the system. It was Lia.
"Are you worried about him?" asked Lia, with concern lacing her voice.
"Of course! She would be! Everyone one of us is! We don't have any future in the outer world, neither we have here," yelled Shimran.
Shuren glared at her making her to close her mouth with a snap.
"We will find a way to leave this place..." gritted out Shuren.
"Well, enough about that. We should focus on something else, like let's discuss about romance. I mean, all of us are beautiful, we must have a beautiful romantic incident, which still makes our heart race," suggested Weslie, trying to chance the topic.
Shimran looked at her in disgust. She scoffed, "We are in such a bad situation and you still want to talk about these, 'pathetic' things."
"Oh, come on~ I promise you, it would be interesting," urged Weslie. Shimran clicked her tongue and said nothing.
"I will go first then!" said Shuren.
"You too!!" Shimran's voice was full of disbelief and resignation.
Ignoring her reaction, Shuren said, "There was a boy, who I really liked. Maybe he liked me as well… but that's what I thought. We became friends and when I thought it was the time to confess him… he told me he liked men. He was a gay."
"Ok! It's my turn then," announced Shimran.
"Weren't you against this?" I asked her. She blushed in embarrassment. It looks like I caught her. She, herself, wanted to say about her romantic incident but she was feeling shy. So, she acted like she was against it.
Shirman said, "Y-you all are g-g-going to say about your e-experiences… why should I be left behind?"
"Fine, go ahead," teased Lia.
Shimran cleared her throat and said, "I like a boy in my college time. He had a pair of blue eyes. His blonde locks always floated in air. I like him very much. When I confessed to him… he rejected me. He told me that he liked someone else. Can you guess who that person was? It was my cousin! Argh! I hate her and that smug smile of her."
Her words made each of us silent. Wow, they really misunderstood assignment. I don't think anyone would consider these stories as beautiful or romantic. It reeks of failure.
"You two! Weslie asked to say a beautiful romantic incident, not a sad story," sneered Jessie.
Shuren shrugged, "I don't have any other story than this. What about you?" she turned towards Weslie with sparkling eyes, "Weslie, you are the one who asked us."
Before Weslie could open her mouth, the basement's door was snapped one. Tom entered the room and glared at all of us.
