- Yawn
Sunny yawned (no shit) and blinked up at the ceiling, the afternoon light bleeding through the curtains in soft golden beams.
He's slept, woken up and slept again.
His arms reached out instinctively, only to find empty sheets where Nephis had been.
Still warm.
He rubbed his eyes and sat up, ruffling his already messy hair.
A glance at the clock confirmed what the sun already hinted at - way past morning. Way past when breakfast was supposed to happen. All because of a clingy somebody who couldn't get his hands off Sunless.
"Damned Nephis…"
He grumbled something under his breath, then slid out of bed and headed toward the shower.
The hot water hit his skin, and he sighed, letting the heat melt away the drowsiness.
As the steam rose around him, Sunny closed his eyes, his thoughts drifting as they always did during moments like this.
Deciding to check on his runes, as he hasn't been able to since recently, he checked on his shadows.
AspectLegacy: [Shadow Dance]
Shadows: [Onyx Saint] [Soul Serpent] [Nightmare]
(dk if this is in the original novel but whatever)
'Ah. Wonder where this guy went?' He focused on the Soul Serpent, before realizing something.
He'd given it to Rain to help with her training.
He doesn't know why, because in the original timeline he never gave her the serpent until volume 8, but the author must be really lost and bad at writing.
However, this is a fanfiction-
'Enough breaking the 4th wall, Sunny.'
Today was supposed to be the day she came over to train with him directly, a session long overdue.
'Hope she doesn't cry that I've practically
ignored her… Or at least doesn't complain too much when I make her swing 1000 times.'
He turned off the water and stepped out, grabbing a towel and rubbing it through his hair as he stepped back into the bedroom.
Nephis was standing near the dresser, half-dressed and pulling a fresh shirt over her head.
Her silver hair clung to her bare shoulders, and for a moment, time seemed to pause.
Sunny graciously took in her voluptuous naked body, how sculptured it was and honestly how beautiful it looked.
"Someone's looking good," he said with a lazy smirk.
(cringe!)
Nephis froze for a split second, then turned her head to give him a sharp look. Her cheeks flushed a soft pink.
"…You're impossible," she muttered, her voice half annoyed, half amused.
Sunny grinned, unapologetic. "That's a new tone. You weren't saying that when you were clinging to me like a heat pack an hour ago."
Nephis gave him a long stare, then turned away quickly to pull the shirt down, hiding her face behind a curtain of silver strands.
"You're lucky I like you," she murmured under her breath.
"I am lucky," Sunny said, walking past her to grab his clothes. "But I'm not the one who was begging for five more minutes."
"I was not begging."
"You said:" he pitched his voice higher in imitation. "'But I'm too comfy! Five more minutes! '"
"You're really pushing it."
"Pfft. You love it," Sunny replied with a wink.
She didn't deny it.
