Chapter 45 - Hawkeye

"Miss Tohka, are you there?" Early the next morning, Tohka was woken up. When she got up, she found Coulson sitting in Tony's living room, sipping tea, clearly having been waiting there for a while.

"What are you doing here, calling me this early in the morning?" Groggily getting up from bed, Tohka had no choice but to get dressed and walk out of her room. However, looking at Coulson, who always had that warm smile, Tohka felt like punching him. It wasn't even dawn yet, and as for Tony, he hadn't come back all night, clearly off with Pepper causing trouble.

"It's nothing, Tohka. The situation is urgent. While you were fighting yesterday, we had an incident. Someone broke in and single-handedly knocked out all our personnel, but then I let them go. That person seems to be the owner of the hammer, though they appear to just be a stronger human." After hearing Tohka's words, Coulson recounted what had happened earlier. Since Tohka was about to head over, this wasn't exactly a secret.

"Oh." Upon hearing this, Tohka showed an interested expression. Others might not know, but Tohka was well aware. That person was the owner of the hammer—Thor, the God of Thunder.

"Let's go. Didn't you know? What happened yesterday is already on the newspapers today. You and Tony are in the headlines again." As Coulson led Tohka outside, he handed her a newspaper. It was about the event, though Tony was on the front page, as he's the big shot.

"By the way, who's in charge of yesterday's incident? The main person is already dead, and if someone was rescued from prison and used a scapegoat, this isn't something to joke about. The ability to brazenly rescue a terrorist and bring them to the company to develop these machines suggests this is a much bigger issue." Honestly, compared to the fame of herself and others, Tohka was more interested in how they handled this situation, considering they had just demolished part of New York.

"Some things are fine to know, just don't speak of them. As for this matter, someone is naturally responsible." After hearing Tohka's words, Coulson gave a mysterious smile.

"Alright, Hammer's doomed." After hearing this, Tohka could easily guess that Hammer was in trouble. After all, he was involved in this, and he was just a pawn to be discarded. Of course, Tohka wouldn't be foolish enough to speak out about it, as she didn't stand to lose anything in the end.

"By the way, the government has already fixed up your house. The furniture and renovation have been updated, and you can move back in anytime." At that moment, Coulson brought up another matter.

"Oh, how are they so efficient?" Considering repairs usually require an appointment and definitely wouldn't be completed in a day, this was surprising.

"Those guys? They're afraid that if you're unhappy, you might reveal what you know. Besides, a superhero saved a large portion of New Yorkers' property, but if your own property wasn't compensated, they'd be crucified." After hearing Tohka's words, Coulson smiled and explained the reasoning to her.

"Is that so?" After hearing Coulson's explanation, Tohka nodded. After all, in a country like the United States, everyone's private property is sacred. If someone hasn't committed a crime, their private property is well protected. Just think about it: breaking into someone's home without permission, even if the owner kills you, it's considered your misfortune. (I think the law is written like that, but never mind.)

"Alright, let's go. I've been rushing here all night; after all, I've been in charge of this matter." At that moment, the two arrived at Tony's villa's helipad, where a helicopter was waiting.

"Seriously, you could've just told me, I would've flown over directly." Looking at the helicopter, Tohka felt a bit helpless. If she had known, she could have just flown over; it would only take a few minutes since she could fly at supersonic speeds.

"Stop complaining, let's go." With a helpless glance at Tohka, Coulson walked in first. At the same time, the pilot started the helicopter.

"Got it." After getting on the helicopter, Tohka opened the newspaper and began reading. As expected, the initial investigation showed that Hammer's weapon system had been hacked. Then, various rumors circulated... Some even said it was Russian spies, claiming they feared the U.S. military would get their hands on the weapons and threaten them. Tohka couldn't help but laugh at this; basically, just blame the Russians for everything.

Ivan Vanko was, strictly speaking, a pitiful person. After all, it was his father and Tony's father who co-invented the technology. But it was Stark who kept it for himself. Vanko only wanted to seek justice for his father. He never intended to profit from the technology. As for the eventual self-destruction, it was likely not just a last-ditch effort to retaliate but also to prevent the technology from falling into the wrong hands. In his eyes, only Tony and himself were qualified to use that armor. (That's my take on it.) No one else, not even the Russians, had the right to possess it, or they wouldn't have been living in such a sorry state these years.

After reading this, Tohka lost interest in continuing. She crossed her arms and went back to sleep. As for what Coulson was doing next to her, she didn't care. After all, he was going to be the future director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and was known as the conscience of the agents, so she wasn't worried that he'd do anything to her.

"Alright, we're here. Stop sleeping." With Coulson's voice ringing in her ears, Tohka realized she had already arrived at the destination. She had no idea how long she had slept, but the first thing she saw was the barren landscape of New Mexico. There were also barbed wire fences and makeshift tents set up in the desert.

"What? You let him go?" As soon as they got off the plane, Coulson realized that Thor was no longer there. After asking Hawkeye, he was stunned—they had let him go without permission.

As Hawkeye was reporting the situation, Tohka was observing this superhero. True to his name, with his quiver of arrows, his eyes were sharp like those of a hawk, and just one glance was enough to send a chill down anyone's spine. However, at this moment, he seemed a bit confused, wondering how he had let Thor go.

"Wait a minute, Coulson." At that moment, Tohka interrupted their conversation. She then walked up to Hawkeye, sniffed the air, and said, "Hmm, this smells like magic."
