Chapter 44 - End

"Oh, fuck, looks like I'm too late again for my little money!" This time, with the help of Deadpool and Black Widow, the guards at Hammer Industries were like paper. They had no resistance at all and were beaten to pieces in a single round. However, when Deadpool entered the room, he found that Ivan Vanko had already disappeared. Realizing it was too late and that he might have to refund the deposit, Deadpool grumbled and left. Now, he was considering where to hide so others wouldn't spot him, as this situation was really hard to explain.

"Is that Ivan Vanko's computer?" Ignoring the grumbling Deadpool as he left, Black Widow quickly ran over to the computer left behind. Noticing the commotion outside, she realized Ivan Vanko had left too quickly and hadn't had time to destroy the computer. As a result, Black Widow easily found the program used to hack into Rhodey's armor. Her hands moved rapidly across the keyboard, and line after line of code appeared on the screen. True to her profession as a skilled agent, within just a few minutes, she had cracked the password protecting Rhodey's armor.

Meanwhile, Tony, having temporarily shaken off the pursuers, was pinning Rhodey to the ground. But at that moment, Rhodey's War Machine armor suddenly stopped, and the lights on the armor went out.

"Are you okay? Everything alright?" Seeing this, Tony stopped what he was doing and looked at his friend with concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine now. I can control the armor again." With the armor's program rebooted, Rhodey regained control of his suit. He then removed his helmet and took a deep breath, but immediately saw Tony still on top of him. "Uh, can you get off me? I'm straight."

"Oh, me too." Hearing Rhodey's words, Tony calmly got off of him. But just then, the two of them were surrounded by a large group of Iron Soldiers. Clearly, the group Tony had shaken off earlier had come back.

"Looks like Black Widow and the others have handled it, so I don't need to rush in." After glancing at the two below, Tohka realized there was nothing more for her to do and stayed in the air, watching as the two quickly dealt with the robots scattered around the area. She also saw Ivan Vanko flying toward them from a distance. Then, she suddenly remembered something and quickly flew back to Pepper. "Oops, almost forgot that guy put bombs on these Iron Soldiers. Never mind, I'll head back to protect the non-combat personnel."

After realizing this, Tohka decided not to focus on the battle below. She didn't believe Ivan Vanko could defeat Tony, especially since she knew Tony must have an energy cannon like her own. Vanko's armor was clearly of the type with high physical resistance, boosted by ice and anti-armor, but with no magical defense. So as long as Tony wasn't foolish, he wouldn't lose.

"Uh, what about Hammer?" Returning to the scene, Tohka noticed only Pepper was left. Hammer had already disappeared, and although Tohka had seen the original story, she wasn't particularly concerned about what happened to such a character.

"He was taken by the police. It's probably better than the way Tony showed up." Looking at Tohka as she landed in front of her, Pepper glanced around but didn't spot Tony.

"He's fine. By the way, Jarvis, notify the police to stay clear of the Iron Soldier wreckage. Also, I'll take you to a safe place. Who knows if that guy put self-destructive devices on those armors." With that, Tohka quickly picked up Pepper and flew away from the exhibition site, heading toward a secluded hill.

"Alright, Tony, I've moved Pepper to a safe place." At that moment, Tohka saw two armors shoot into the sky. Shortly after, a violent explosion engulfed all of New York. To prevent Tony from going crazy, Tohka quickly sent her location to him.

Then, one of the armors made a sharp turn and flew in her direction. Realizing it was Tony, Tohka immediately left the spot and flew back toward Tony's villa. She could already guess what would happen next and certainly didn't want to end up like Rhodey, getting hit with a face full of drama. So, she chose to keep her distance and not worry about it.

After a while at the villa, Tohka received a video call notification from Nick Fury.

"Is that Deadpool the person you hired today?" Fury went straight to the point as soon as they met, clearly, Black Widow had already filled him in on the events of the day.

"Yeah, that's right. How did you know? By the way, why aren't you with Tony? Why come to me instead?" Looking at Nick Fury in front of her, Tohka was a bit confused. Normally, he should have been asking Tony, not coming to her.

"Obviously, I just gave him the files today, and now this situation happens. But I don't think Tony would have thought to hire a mercenary, so the only one who could have done it was you."

"Ah, hahahaha, you're right." Tohka continued to laugh. "But the two of us are really not suited to taking action. As you can see, if we had spoken up earlier, we wouldn't have had all these problems tonight." She wasn't worried about what Nick Fury might do to her since, in the end, she hadn't done anything wrong.

"Alright, forget about it. Nick, don't tell anyone. Seriously, how could Tony think to ask you for advice? That method is really stupid. Also, take a good rest. I'll send someone to pick you up today." Nick Fury was just confirming the situation and wasn't concerned about what happened between Tohka and Tony.

"You have so many tasks. First Hulk, then Ivan Vanko, and tomorrow it's that big hammer guy. How many things do you still need to deal with?" Thinking about all of this, Tohka couldn't help but complain. After all, her life had been non-stop lately, and she was ready for a break.

"Yeah, this is the last one. After this, there won't be anything left." After hearing Tohka's words, Fury thought for a moment and realized there wasn't much going on lately. "Consider it a vacation. You've got it better than most. Just look at New York; it's been wrecked twice in the past two days. Those politicians must be losing their minds."

At this point, Nick Fury sighed helplessly. Those people always found ways to cause him trouble. But, it wasn't all bad; at least when he needed funding, he wouldn't be turned down.

"Got it, I'll go rest now." After that, Tohka didn't bother with Nick Fury's expression and hung up the phone. She climbed into bed, didn't even bother to take off her clothes, and fell straight to sleep.
