Chapter 42 - Ivan Vanko Takes Action

"How did you guys get here, and what's going on with Tony? Why did he suddenly run onto the stage?" Pepper asked, a bit confused, looking at Tohka. By all logic, Tony should still be at his villa.

"Do you remember the attack you encountered at the racetrack before?" After hearing Pepper's words, Tohka quietly leaned in and whispered in her ear. After all, there were many people here, so they needed to be careful.

"You mean Ivan? Isn't he already... This is too crazy, doesn't Hammer care about the consequences?" Pepper hadn't paid attention when she saw the guy's death notice, but now with Tohka's reminder and seeing the Iron Soldiers on stage, how could she not figure it out?

Even so, she was still shocked by Hammer's boldness. After all, this guy actually dared to use a terrorist.

"Nothing is impossible. The military must be going crazy trying to get Tony's Iron Armor. And that idiot Hammer just played into it, so he created this illusion and got the guy out of prison. So, you need to be careful, he might have tampered with these Iron Soldiers."

Looking at the Iron Soldiers in front of her, Tohka was a bit nervous. But it wasn't because she was afraid of these useless things; it was because there were so many people at the scene. Fighting here would be difficult, so it was natural for Tohka to feel nervous.

I have to say, spirits are mostly kind-hearted by nature, and since Tohka was a shut-in in her previous life, she didn't end up like the usual protagonist in novels who, after crossing over, acts like they're the boss. After all, she could have just lived openly and waited for things to unfold, unless she was crazy enough to choose to hide and run away.

"It's fine, these soldiers usually don't carry weapons. After all, this is just an exhibition, and Hammer has to prevent any accidents." Seeing Tohka tense and ready for action, Pepper hurriedly comforted her.

"No, Hammer is an idiot. That guy probably hasn't even figured out the structure of these machine soldiers, so it's really easy for Ivan Vanko to load them with ammunition."

Tony wasn't the only one who looked down on Hammer; Tohka, having read the original, felt the same. This guy was like a clown, always jumping around, unaware that he was just a dispensable pawn among the higher-ups.

He had huge advantages but was easily played by a powerless, insignificant person, showing that his methods were really weak. It wasn't mentioned in the original, but Tohka could imagine that after today's events, this guy would definitely take the fall for everything, and then be dragged to court for judgment.

After all, he wasn't like General Ross. Ross had his own merits, and his position as a general was solid. The higher-ups really couldn't afford to anger him.

As expected, just after Tohka finished speaking, the Iron Soldiers on stage suddenly reacted. All the soldiers, including War Machine Rhodey, pointed their weapons at Tony.

Then, all the machine guns opened fire without hesitation. Tony, locked onto by the attack, didn't dare to fire back immediately. Instead, he quickly gained altitude, dodging the shots while trying to move the battlefield into the sky. After all, there was a dense crowd here, and if a fight broke out, it would cause huge casualties. Forget about future public opinion; even Tony couldn't live with the guilt.

"Is Hammer an idiot? How can he use people like this, doesn't he fear getting himself killed?" Pepper was going crazy, watching the group of Iron Soldiers fly after Tony, the panicking crowd, and the Iron Soldiers on the ground shooting into the sky. She was nearly losing her mind, dealing with the chaos and Hammer's stupidity.

"Tohka, help evacuate the crowd and clear the robots on the ground. Don't worry about the ones in the air, leave them to me. After all, Hammer has control over Rhodey's armor as well." Just then, Tony's voice came through Tohka's earpiece. It seemed like he could handle things, so Tohka didn't rush.

"Go backstage and find Hammer, see if he has a way to stop the chaos. As for these things, leave them to me." After glancing at the Iron Soldiers scattered around, Tohka immediately put on the Iron Armor Tony gave her. Instantly, all the robots turned their heads toward her.

Clearly, Ivan Vanko had set up recognition markers based on the facial features of the Iron Armor. Seeing this, Tohka realized they had locked onto her. To avoid casualties, she quickly flew to the area with the fewest people and activated her shield. In an instant, countless attacks slammed into her shield.

"As expected, Ivan Vanko is no match for Tony." Looking at the attacks bouncing off her shield, Tohka realized that while this guy did control the core technology of the Iron Armor...

...he was still no match for Tony, because this guy didn't even have any energy attacks—just missiles and machine guns. With this kind of stuff, there was no way it could break Tohka's fire shield. But Tohka wasn't going to waste time.

Putting on the Iron Armor limited her movements, but it didn't mean she had no advantages. "Jarvis, help me lock onto the Iron Soldiers in the field."

"Understood, Miss." As Jarvis spoke, several circles appeared on the screen in front of Tohka, locking onto all the scattered Iron Soldiers.

"Alright, now it's time to test out the power of Tony's armor." Then, Tohka's armor shifted and small cannon tubes began to appear. Following that, with the input of energy, blue-purple energy orbs began to form on the cannons.

"Hahaha, take this, divine justice from the heavens!" With an excited shout, Tohka became a point of firepower in that instant. Her body unleashed all its energy cannons, and all the unprepared, unmanned Iron Soldiers were completely obliterated in that moment.

"Hahaha, Tony's gadgets are really useful! Though the power isn't that great, the precision is so high, it's perfect for dealing with these small fries in a crowded area."

Satisfied, Tohka watched the soldiers she destroyed with a single shot. It was then that she realized Tony's inventions were quite useful. Of course, these things were only useful for dealing with this kind of foe. If she were facing someone on her own level, she'd still have to take off the armor and fight hand-to-hand.

"Wait, there's one more."
