Mikael froze, his throat drying and hands trembling in fear.
This was a heavy accusation, but that wasn't what scared him.
It was the crazy look in Axton's eyes.
The look he always had whenever he executed someone.
At this point, he feared that if he breathed any louder, he'd push the man over the edge.
Desperate, he turned to his daughter for help.
Clenching her trembling hands, Carmen parted her lips, but her shaky voice barely made it past her throat, "Councilman Armand means well for the pack. He would never do that!"
Her voice trembled, so faint that the senior maids behind her barely caught a word.
Axton, however, heard her, but remained unfazed.
Ignoring Mikael's wince as he pressed the blade into his neck, Axton tilted his head to the side, his eyes devoid of emotion as he sneered, "Why? Because he's a Councilman or because he's your father?"
Carmen drew in a deep breath, steadying her breathing before slowly shaking her head.
