Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: We're The Invaders?

Present Year, 2012.

New York City.

"Stark, do you hear me? There's a missile heading straight to the city!", Fury yelled. "It will be there in three minutes max!", Fury continued. After shooting one of two birds down with a rocket launcher, Fury saw the second bird take off to the skies. He knew he couldn't take the second one down, and instead, he retreated off to a side room, still on the aircraft carrier he was on. Thankfully, Fury had contacts he could reach out to. This man was Director Fury, the current Director of SHIELD. Full name: Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division. They were in charge of protecting Planet Earth from superhuman, and now, extraterrestrial threats.

Back inside New York City, a person donning a partially destroyed red suit of armor over his entire body currently laid flat on the ground, surrounded by a bunch of rubble from destroyed buildings and several carved-out roads. Scattered dirt and cement was everywhere thanks to all the ongoing fighting. Trying to get up, one or two Chitauri aliens would smack this person back into the ground. Becoming annoyed, he blasted the aliens away, and secured his footing.

This was the Chitauri Invasion. The first major event that sparked the Avengers to assemble together. Presently, it was reaching its climax, where Tony was going to sacrifice himself in hopes to destroy the Chitauri army in one fell swoop. Fury, who was still at the naval base, managed to communicate to Stark about the imposing nuclear missile, which was authorized by the United States Military.

But the armored man, everybody's famous Iron Man, aka, Tony Stark, struggled to get up. As he did, he heard Fury speak again directly into his communications.

"The payload's going to wipe out all of Midtown.", Fury said to Tony.

Gaining his composure, Tony's vision started gaining attention elsewhere, as if he was trying to pinpoint a location, through his suit.

"Target secured. Jarvis, put everything into the thrusters. We're going to send that baby flying!", Tony issued.

"I just did.", Jarvis responded, acting as if it already knew what Tony was going to do. In response, the suit's thrusters struck outward, and ignited. Whoosh!

Leaving the fighting on the ground to his teammates, Iron Man ascended the skies.

Iron Man left Midtown altogether. His flight path continued on, and in no time at all did he see the incoming package. A single missile, capable of wiping out an entire city, connecting to a fighter jet. Tony sure wasn't going to let his home be destroyed just like that.

The pilot pressed the red button, and the package was let loose. With detonation imminent, Iron Man went into hyperdrive, and allowed his suit to latch onto this missile shortly after the fighter jet veered sideways, and departed from Manhattan.

During this moment, time seemed to have slowed down. Iron Man, using his quick wits, managed to dodge building after building. One tower in particular managed to stick out like a sore thumb. This tower would eventually be modeled into the Avengers Tower. Right now, it was Tony's house, and where he constructed all of his suits.

"Coming through!", Iron man yelled, forcing his way through the incoming groups of Chitauri aliens. The other Avengers took advantage of this chaos, and started fighting back with all their might. One of them, the Black Widow, remained on the tower that Iron Man narrowly brushed by, currently on standby. She was ready to close the portal after seeing the ongoing plan in action, but wouldn't begin until she knew Iron Man delivered the package.

As for Iron Man, he had a single target. Directing this missile into the portal now in sight, which was powered by the Tesseract. To which, he did!

The moment Iron Man was sucked into the portal, which was tied directly to outer space where the Kree were operating from, the naval base where Fury was centered at all began cheering. They avoided the worst case scenario, blowing up a large chunk of New York City.

Instead, the ongoing scene shifted back to Iron Man. He was now deep in outer space, millions upon millions lightyears away from Planet Earth. The only thing that kept him not completely stranded was the portal behind him. Despite that, his red suit of armor was quickly losing connection with the tower back inside the city. Jarvis, Tony's personal AI system, could only extend out so much. Even Jarvis was limited. Because of that, Tony found his Iron Man suit quickly depleting its energy reserves, and his suit was beginning to ice over.

But that was where the magic started to happen. Everything went as planned. The single missile continued its course, igniting the gigantic mothership of the Chitauri ablaze. One explosion resounded after another, creating a chain reaction. It only happened in mere moments.

BOOOOOOM!

The darkness of outer space became engulfed in flames, making it as if it was a miniature star. Bright as day. Just on a lesser scale. All of the Chitauri who were on the opposing side didn't even have enough time to react to this sudden attack. Their lifeline, the mothership itself, was blasted into space dust. Every single alien had its connection severed, dying on the spot. Seeing all of the Chitauri collapse one after another back inside the city stunned the Avengers. They didn't think their death would be instantaneous!

Back toward outer space, all Iron Man could do was just stare at the fantastical scene before him. It was as if it came right out of a sci-fi novel. Tony was in a state of bliss, unable to look away while his suit continued to freeze.

Contrary to his ongoing expression, that was when things took a different turn. The space around him began to twist and churn. A spatial rift formed seemingly out of nowhere.

It was through this spatial rift that four figures suddenly emerged. A brown-haired boy, and three pink-haired girls. It was Baki, Lala, Momo and Nana, all holding on to dear life! This time, Momo and Nana were very much unconscious. Baki was darting his eyes around in disbelief, seeing himself suddenly in outer space. Lala seemed more used to it. Perhaps it was because she was an alien who knew who to travel around in outer space already?

"This isn't what I had in mind!", I retorted, seeing the new scenery before me.

"It's just outer space, Baki-kun. I haven't been here in a while, I almost forgot how empty it is.", Lala replied, disregarding my surprise. I wanted to face-palm that comment, but I knew now wasn't the time. Instead, I just grabbed Lala's chin, and turned her head around.

"Being in outer space isn't the issue here. THAT'S the issue.", I responded, showing the gigantic mothership currently displaying an array of fireworks before us. It was one explosion after another.

"Oh...", Lala replied, seeing these explosions occur continuously. It was getting louder and louder with each passing moment.

"We were placed in the middle of the goddamn Chitauri Invasion. Do you know what that means? The planet we were supposed to head toward is under attack right now, Lala-chan.", I said to Lala.

"Well, I get that much. Isn't this a good thing, though? That spaceship is clearly their mothership. We just won, didn't we?", Lala responded back, showing confusion in her eyes. Hearing that did catch cause me to pause. Now that she brought that up, the explosions were beginning to recede. The Chitauri mothership was sure enough, completely torn to bits.

[The Chitauri Mothership has just detonated. It is advised you ride the incoming shock waves to reach your destination, Master.]

Hearing Aura's voice suddenly pop into my head, I paused again. Why is that beginning to sound more and more plausible with each passing second?

God planned this, didn't he?

As much as I wanted to retort that, Aura was right. I shook my head, and became serious again.

"Brace for impact, Lala-chan. Ignore the explosions. We'll let this play its course. Do you see that portal? That's our destination.", I said, pointing toward a blue portal that tore a rift into space behind us, causing Lala to turn around. She also saw the portal in the near distance. She then saw that we weren't alone. A half-destroyed red suit of armor currently floated about motionlessly.

"I see it, but who is that?", Lala questioned, not expecting to see a figure nearby.

"That's Iron Man. He's the one who blew that mothership up. We should head toward him. It would be a waste if he got stuck here.", I said.

"Got it! Sephie-chan also told me to ride the incoming shock waves. We're protected right now, so we just need to make sure we don't spiral out of control.", Lala said, assuring my words.

So both Aura and Sephie suggested the same thing. Considering we were currently under God's grace, aka his protection, which would likely last for some moments. Perhaps long enough to see this through until the end, like he stated? I wasn't sure, and I didn't want to find that out. We made sure to brace ourselves. The waves of energy that were being sent by the explosions soon reached our way, and we were blasted toward the open portal at a quickening pace. Unlike Iron Man, we were far closer to the Mothership, so we were able to ride the waves, as one would say.

Along the way, we did collide against Iron Man. Before Tony could even react, he saw four swift shadowy blurs pummel against him.

'Damn it!', Tony cursed, not expecting to get hit like this. But before he could see what it was, he heard an unexpected voice.

"Sorry for the intrusion dude. Explanations will be saved for later. Just grab onto us, or else you'll rot away in this hellhole forever. And trust me, you don't want that.", I said to Iron Man. I do realize we are in outer space right now so my voice shouldn't even reach Iron Man's ears, but we were in that protective barrier, so he was able to hear me. Call it God's will, if you will. Haha!

"What the...", Iron Man tried to respond. I ignored his retort, and simply grabbed a hold of his suit, latching it into a firm grip. He was with us now. Our speed wasn't stopping either. We were quickly flying toward the portal.

Perhaps it was from the result of the explosions and the speed we were flying at that Iron Man couldn't hold onto it any longer, and his vision passed out. He was now unconscious.

That was for the better. Less hassle to deal with. Now, we only had one thing in sight. The portal. Our entrance way to Planet Earth.

"This is fun!", Lala happily replied.

She's going to get an earful from me later...
