Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12: The Heirs Resolve

In the heart of a war-torn land, tension crackled like the air before a storm. Yuki, a fierce protector, stormed out of the tent, her heart racing with anger. She confronted Zeff, her voice sharp as a blade. "Why are you mean to her?" she demanded, her eyes blazing.

Zeff, taken aback, stammered, "What! Are you angry about now? She might be a spy!"

"She's just a kid!" Yuki shot back, her voice steady. "I've confirmed she is the master's heir. You don't have to worry about her being a spy. Do you hate kids that much? She's here to cheer us up, not to be bullied. And the master will be furious if he finds out his student doesn't trust his heir."

Zeff fell silent, the weight of Yuki's words hanging in the air. As she turned to leave, a sense of urgency gripped her. She needed to find Lena, the young heir, and ensure her safety. Racing into the forest, panic set in when she couldn't find her. She quickly rallied the group, calling for a search.

Meanwhile, Zeff, searching Lena's tent, stumbled upon a note. His heart sank as he read it aloud to Yuki: "I have gone to the enemy's base alone. Don't worry about me. Focus on your battle. - Lena."

Yuki's confusion morphed into determination. "She's gone to the enemy? Tsk! I'm going there now!" But just as she made her way out, a guard shouted, "ENEMY!" The camp erupted into chaos as the enemy descended upon them.

"Everyone, to your positions!" Yuki commanded, her voice cutting through the noise. The battle began, fierce and unforgiving. Soldiers fought valiantly, but injuries and captures mounted. Amidst the chaos, Yuki felt a strange pull, a sense that she needed to help Lena. "Zeff, go to the enemy base!" she ordered.

Zeff nodded, urgency in his eyes, and dashed away from the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Lena was already deep in enemy territory, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and resolve. She had observed the enemy's movements, analyzing their defenses. As she approached their base, an eerie silence enveloped her. No guards? Something felt off.

Suddenly, a man emerged from the shadows, a smile creeping across his face. Lena took a cautious step forward, and in an instant, armed guards swarmed around her, as if summoned by magic. Panic surged through her, but before she could react, a vehicle roared into view, blasting through the enemy ranks. It was Zeff, and Lena couldn't help but roll her eyes. "My plan failed because of Zeff," she muttered.

As bullets whizzed past, Zeff yanked her into the car. "Why did you pull me? We need to go back!" she shouted, frustration boiling over.

"I'm sorry for being mean to you," Zeff replied, his voice calm. "I'm just overprotective when it comes to kids."

Lena softened slightly. "I forgive you, but you have to follow my orders. Stop the car."

Zeff complied, but just as they halted, enemy fire erupted, and their vehicle exploded into a shower of metal. They barely escaped, standing amidst the chaos as soldiers aimed their weapons at them. Just then, Yuki and the rest of the group arrived, charging into battle.

"Go inside now and take the high-up to safety!" Yuki commanded, her eyes fierce. Lena nodded, her heart racing as she dashed past the enemies, her speed a blur.

Inside the enemy base, armed guards surrounded her, their laughter echoing as they mocked the sight of a child with a sword. "Well, good luck to me," Lena said, determination igniting within her. With swift, precise movements, she cut through their ranks, disarming them one by one until they lay defeated at her feet.

Finally, she reached the room where the high-up was held captive. To her shock, a familiar face stood beside him—one of the clients of the Interitus. "Welcome, Lena. I've been waiting for you," he sneered, a twisted smile on his lips. "I loved it when I saw you cutting their arms off."

"Give me the high-up," Lena demanded, her voice steady.

 of it.

"No" he replied, a smirk still plastered on his face.

Without hesitation, Lena made her decision. In one swift motion, she plunged her sword into him, silencing his laughter forever. As he fell, his eyes wide with shock, he gasped, "WHY?" before life slipped away from him.

Breathing heavily, Lena stepped into the room where the high-up was held, Shocks this is the one who tortured me as I stared at him. The man looked up, his expression shifting from shock to recognition. "Why are you alive?" he stammered, disbelief etched across his features.

Ignoring his question, Lena turned to leave, but he called out, desperation lacing his voice. "Please, don't leave me!"

She paused, her heart racing. "I will give you everything you want! Money? Fame? A job?" he pleaded, his voice trembling.

Lena's anger flared. She pushed him against the wall, her eyes blazing. "You bastard! You think any of that will save you? No, you are all alone!" She released him, watching as he sank to his knees, fear and regret washing over him.

"Stand up," she commanded, her voice firm. "I'm not going to leave you here. If I do, my father will be angry with me." The truth was, she wanted to kill him right then and there, but she knew she had to keep him alive for now.

As they moved toward the exit, he followed her every command, fear driving him to comply. They navigated through the dimly lit corridors, the sounds of battle echoing outside—a villain, one of the enemy's top enforcers, blocking their escape.
