Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14: The Nuclear Girl

The battlefield stretched out before Lena, a chaotic scene that sent her heart racing. Memories of the last time she had faced such violence flooded her mind, and she felt the familiar grip of hyperventilation tightening around her chest. It was hard to breathe as the echoes of her past haunted her, but she quickly focused on the traitor beside her. She had to get him to safety first.

With determination, Lena led the way into the forest, where a vehicle awaited them. As she opened the door, the traitor scrambled into the front seat, his eyes wide with fear. Lena followed, but not without taking precautions. She subtly used her powers to create a small stick that pressed against his back. Leaning closer, she whispered, "If you do something fishy, I will kill you with this stick in one go." The traitor shifted uncomfortably, and Lena felt a sense of satisfaction.

Once they were on the move, Lena's thoughts turned to her friends still fighting on the battlefield. She couldn't ignore the call to help them any longer. "I have to join the others," she said, determination in her voice.

When she arrived, the scene was grim. Yuki was injured, struggling against a powerful enemy. Lena rushed to her side, ready to heal her, but before she could, an enemy used their powers to separate them. Yuki quickly conjured icy armor, a sight Lena had never witnessed before. It was impressive, but the moment was short-lived as a formidable villain named Alkaios appeared, ready to engage Yuki.

The battle intensified. Yuki fought valiantly, using her powers to strangle Alkaios, but he broke free. In a desperate move, Yuki created a crystal jail to contain him. Lena watched in awe as the crystal formed, but Alkaios was relentless, smashing against the walls until they began to crack. Yuki, undeterred, summoned a massive creature from the snow to attack him. The creature restrained Alkaios, but as Yuki approached, she uttered strange words Lena didn't understand. Suddenly, blood burst from Alkaios's body, and Yuki collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

"Yuki!" Lena shouted, panic rising within her. One of their group members rushed to Yuki's side, lifting her up as others formed a protective barrier around them. But the enemy numbers were growing, and Lena felt a surge of frustration. "ALL OF THE GROUP, FALL BACK!" she commanded, but her voice was drowned out by the chaos.

"YOU HEARD HER, FALL BACK!" Yuki yelled, her voice cutting through the noise. Finally, the group began to retreat, but the enemies pressed closer.

Realizing she had to act, Lena unleashed her power. A green glow enveloped her, and the enemies around her turned to ashes. The sight of her power sent shockwaves through the remaining foes, who began to shout, "WITHDRAW!" They fled into the forest, but Lena wouldn't let them escape. She increased her speed, darting in front of them and taking down half of their ranks in one swift motion.

The remaining enemies, realizing they couldn't escape, turned to fight. "WHO ARE YOU, MONSTER?" one of them shouted.

With a chilling calmness, Lena replied, "I'm Nuclear Girl." The name hung in the air, and the enemies attacked with all their might. Lena concentrated her power, and with a massive explosion, the battlefield was engulfed in smoke and debris.

When the dust settled, Lena found herself standing amidst the wreckage, her feet burning and her clothes tattered. "I won," she whispered to herself, but just then, an avalanche of snow cascaded down, and she realized it was Yuki who had created it to protect her.

As the smoke cleared, Lena looked around, her heart pounding. The battlefield was littered with blood and destruction, but she felt a sense of triumph. Suddenly, Yuki jumped onto her, and they both fell into the snow. "THAT'S AMAZING! Are those powers a green flame? You're incredible! You killed all of them!" Yuki exclaimed, her excitement infectious.

Lena couldn't help but smile as laughter erupted from their group. In that moment, she realized they weren't afraid of her; they were proud. A wave of calm washed over her, and she turned to Yuki, saying, "Arigato gozaimusu, Yuki-san." Tears welled in Yuki's eyes as she hugged Lena tightly, overwhelmed with emotion.

After the battle, they received a token of appreciation from the president, who stood alongside Lena's father. When the president approached, he paused, whispering something to Lena's father. They then turned to Lena, and her father nodded, signaling her to introduce herself.

"Hello, Mr. President. I am Lena Sato, the heir of the Sato family, and I was the

one who killed the Interitus with the help of the government," Lena declared, her voice steady despite the weight of her words.

The president's face broke into a proud smile, and he saluted her in a gesture of honor. The room fell silent, and Lena could feel the shock ripple through the crowd, including Yuki and Zeff, who stared at her in disbelief.

"Umm, excuse me, Mr. President," Yuki interjected, her voice tinged with confusion. "Did I hear that right? She defeated the Interitus all by herself?"

The president nodded, his expression serious. "Oh, Yuki, this young lady is the savior of our country. She defeated the Interitus with a little help from the government. I was going to announce it, but she was presumed dead and missing. The government has already taken action, but I wanted to do something to honor her glory. Unfortunately, I couldn't due to confidential reasons."

As the president spoke, the crowd erupted into excited chatter, their voices rising in pitch as they gathered around Lena, eager to hear her story. Questions flew at her from all directions, but she felt too exhausted to respond. All she wanted was to rest.

"Everyone, back away!" Lena's father commanded, his voice cutting through the noise. The crowd parted, giving her some much-needed space. He approached her, a proud smile on his face. "Congrats on overcoming your despair," he whispered, his calm aura enveloping her. In that moment, Lena realized that her father had always believed in her, even when she had doubted herself.

Feeling a rush of gratitude, Lena hugged him from behind, whispering, "Thank you." The warmth of his presence reassured her, and she felt a sense of belonging wash over her.

As the day wore on, Lena found herself surrounded by Yuki and Zeff, who were eager to celebrate their victory. They shared stories of the battle, laughter echoing through the air as they recounted their experiences. The bond between them had grown stronger, forged in the fires of conflict.

In the days that followed, Lena often hung out with Yuki and Zeff, embarking on missions together. They became an inseparable trio, each one supporting the others in their endeavors. The president occasionally called Lena for a chat, recognizing her as a vital asset to the country.

As for the traitor who had once tortured her, the president had ensured he was imprisoned in the most secure jail in the world. Lena felt a sense of justice knowing he would no longer be able to harm anyone.

Despite the challenges they faced, Lena and her friends continued to grow stronger, both individually and as a team. They trained together, honing their skills and preparing for whatever threats might arise in the future. Lena's powers flourished, and she learned to control them with precision, no longer fearing the darkness that had once consumed her.

One evening, as they sat together under the stars, Lena reflected on how far she had come. The battlefield that had once filled her with dread now felt like a testament to her strength. She had faced her fears, embraced her identity, and emerged victorious.

And that, dear reader, is a happy ending, isn't it?
