In Blossom city, right in the dungeon cells of the Ye family manor, a man clad in a bloody black robe laid there motionless.
Judging from his pale face and the cuts on his clothes, this man was a victim of a lot of beatings.
But then in a second this same man, gasped awake...
"Haaaa!"
"Argh!"
The first thing he felt was pain as it assault his senses, yet he still pried his eyes open, scanning the area. Then he wanted to move but realized his hands were chained.
"Huh? Where am I?"
He looked around, the air was damp, thick with the stench of blood, mold and something disturbingly rotten.
A single torch was the only source of light in the dungeon except the moonlight peering from outside through the tiny window high up.
Mo Han blinked. Where exactly was he?
He tried to move, but the chains restricted him from moving, and then panic set in. He looked down to find himself in black bloodied robe instead of his usual uniform.
Wasn't he supposed to be working at the grocery store right now?
His breathing turned ragged. This wasn't earth and it was definitely not the grocery store.
And then like a landslide crashing through his skull. It all clicked. Memories that were not his came pouring into his mind causing his mind to ache.
He clenched his teeth and closed his eyes waiting for the pain to stop and when it finally did, realization dawned on him.
Mo Han sucked in a sharp breath remembering exactly who he was. And if he was not mistaken this was "the rebirth of the demon king" and right now, he was Ye Mo Han and not Peter Yu.
He looked at his reflection through a puddle of liquid on the floor, the small light from the window, showing his black hair and sharp chin and hollow black eyes.
Yep exactly how he imagined Ye Mo Han.
And this wasn't just any prison, but the dungeon of the Ye Family manor, only a few knew about this place except Ye Mo Han's elder brother and his father.
And of course, him.
It was exactly the same way the author described the prison, and the exact same one Ye Mo Han was put in, to die.
His throat went dry. No. No, no. Horror finally painted on his face.
He jerked against the chains trying to free himself but that only caused the cold iron to dig deeper into his skin.
He gritted his teeth. The pain was real and the blood on his robes were real.
This wasn't some damn dream.
Peter Yu had transmigrated. And not just into any character but the one character he hated the most.
The protagonist, Ye Mo Han. The same protagonist that would be too late to his whole clan burial.
"Shit," he whispered in a hoarse voice. "Shit, shit!"
He was meant to be reading the book and not living it!
He racked his brains trying to search for the reason why Ye Mo Han was in prison in the first place.
Ye Mo Han was framed for leaking information to a rival merchant clan, causing his father to lock him up here. The father could have just done an investigation but the moron didn't even speak to defend himself.
That was one thing his father hated. So he tossed him here to vent his anger.
But it was an intricate plan for Mo Han's elder brother to do away with the entire clan out of greed, with the help of the rival merchant clan.
Mo Han's forehead ached, realizing that this time he was cooked.
There was no way he was going to let it happen. 'I would have to figure myself, from here on out.'
Just then the heavy iron door groaned open, and the stench of expensive perfume and rotten intentions filled the air.
Mo Han relaxed back knowing perfectly well, who exactly was the one paying him a visit.
Ye Mo Feng.
"Well, well. Seems like someone was not satisfied with the beating."
Mo Han narrowed his gaze at the man before him. Dressed in lavish pick robes like a lady, his dear older brother looked every bit like the elegant young master of a noble family.
Except for the sickening smirk tilting at the corner of his lips and the gleam of sadism in his eyes.
Ye Mo Feng, stepped closer into the light, tilting his head, "I must say, Brother, you have exceeded my expectations. I thought you would be dead by now."
Mo Han didn't respond not because he didn't want to but because of the thing floating right before his eyes.
It was a white fluffy ball, with two beady black eyes, a tiny mouth, and two black horns sticking out of its head.
Mo Han furrowed his brows, his eyes squinting at the small little thing. What in the incarnation was this?
The fluffy ball blinked at him.
Ye Mo Feng who felt ignored, frowned. "What? Nothing to say?"
Peter narrowed his eyes at the fluffy ball tilting his at the side, only for the thing to move along with him. He had never heard of such existence in the book before.
"...The hell is that?"
Ye Mo Feng blinked, and glanced at each corner of the dungeon cells, but there was nothing there, "Excuse me?"
Mo Han ignored him, staring at the fluffy ball that floated closer, he pushed his heaf forward wanting to nod it but it bounced back, more like it recoiled, like a balloon.
"Oh, he's lost it" Mo Feng sighed, rolling his eyes and folding his arms. "Is this what happens when you are put behind bars? You begin to lose your mind?"
Instead of answering him, Mo Han's eyes twitched, "Don't you see it?"
Or he was just the only one going crazy here.
Mo Feng's smirk faded as he glanced around once again, the maids usually gossiped about ghosts in the manor, were they really saying the truth? "See what?"
He felt a chill run down his spine and took a step back.
Mo Han dropped his gaze on the fluffy thing once again. He was the only one who could see it.
He struggled against the chain, but groaned in pain as he felt the chains dig further into his flesh.
That would take some time to heal.
Ye Mo Feng finally huffed, having had enough. "Tsk, this is no fun! I was thinking I would see more of you begging for your measly life—but I think it would be better seeing your reaction tomorrow."
With that, he flicked the hem of his robes, turned on his heels and left the dungeon. His chin as high as his ego. Leaving Mo Han alone.
Although he wasn't alone.
The fluffy ball suddenly opened its mouth and then spoke, it's eyes gleaming in excitement.
[Congratulations! Host, You have awakened the Demonic Beast Taming System!]
Mo Han choked, "The what now?"
[The Demonic Beast Taming System! Your one-way ticket to power, fortune and hot women!]
Mo Han chuckled, rolling it's eyes. Of course. It wasn't an Isekai without a system. He had read such books before but didn't know he would be the one living it this time.
"...So you are telling me,' he muttered, "That I got sent into this world, and now I have a system!"
[Correct!] The ball spun around in the air happily and then halted to a stop.
[It's not what you think, we just found you as the most suitable candidate to inherit the system.]
Yeah.... Right. Mo Han knew he didn't want it, especially since he hates this novel to the core.
"I would like to go home."
[Denied.]
Peter exhaled, knowing that this time he had really met a dead end, the fluffy ball giggled as it spun around. "Well... Display my information."
[Host must complete all tutorials before accessing stats]
Peter deadpanned. "Figures"
Everything about this system was strange, not only does it come in the form of a fluffy ball with horn, but now he had to finish tutorials before seeing his own information.
Fine. He could roll with this. He would just treat it like he was in some kind of game.
"So are you here to give me cheats?" he blurted out. "Instant cultivation? A godly weapon? An escape plan? A way to change the fate of this protagonist?"
The fluffy ball giggled.
[Oh, you sweet child]
Mo Han's eyes twitched and he sighed, "That's not an answer."
[Host! Your first daily quest is available, unless you complete, I am not allowed to give you any information]
The fluffy ball snapped its finger and a blue screen materialized in front of him.
His eyes widened looking at the numbers.
[Failure to complete this quest, would lead to your Death.]
Wait, what?
