Chapter Seven

The morning was uncharacteristically quiet, save for the occasional whistle of the wind brushing against the castle walls. Sabrina stood in the hall, her gaze fixed on Peter Devonshire as his cryptic words lingered in the air.
"A lot of evil."
"What do you mean by that?" she asked, her voice steady but tinged with curiosity.
Peter unfolded his arms and straightened his posture. His golden eyes gleamed with a mix of amusement and weariness. "You'll see soon enough. Finish your meal first, Sabrina. You'll need the energy."
Breakfast was a simple yet satisfying affair. The rabbit meat had been seasoned with wild herbs and paired with roasted vegetables that tasted fresh despite the desolation surrounding the castle. Sabrina ate in silence, her thoughts drifting between the betrayal she had suffered and the mysterious man sitting across from her.
