I have no idea how long I sat on my couch, staring at the text from Maven. I had thought I was done with him for the day and he would at least let me be until tomorrow. However, I could see clearly what was going on. He was trying to mess with my head, but I was done allowing that. I allowed Uncle Leo to mess with my head back at the dinner and that was one of the reasons Maven was able to find out about Lena and I.
I knew how to handle it now though. As long as I didn't lose control and I was always in check with my emotions, everything was going to be fine. I knew now that kissing Jace back at the rehearsal dinner was a bad idea. While it was good for the paparazzi and the buzz that it created, it was proving to be more trouble than it was worth.
Apparently, I'm so good an actor that even my girlfriend had felt threatened by the kiss and had acted rashly. Hence, the eventual collapse of the House of Cards.
