Chapter 47 - The Great Dragon Clash

"Helen, what's going on?!" one of her mates asked scared out of his wits. "Just be quiet and stay down, we'll be alright as long as we stay quiet and hidden", she responded and they all obeyed, especially their teacher who felt she might actually be losing her mind.

Sylvester turned and saw the entire class pressed against the windows with jaw-dropped expressions on their faces. Sylvia followed his gaze and saw the looks on their faces. She sighed and looked at the noon sky.

"This is going to be a battle we shan't soon forget", she thought to herself as the two beasts charged at each other with great ferocity, bashing their heads and horns together.

The clash of their collision sent a shockwave that travelled for miles and almost knocked the observing group off the cliff, if not for the barriers currently shielding their surroundings and protecting them.

"I knew the force of their attacks would be strong if they held nothing back but I guess I'm still underestimating how strong dragons really are", Sylvester confessed as the battle raged on.

They both then backed up and struck with their claws, connecting them to their shoulders simultaneously and tearing across it. A line of pain seared through both of them, and they roared in fury.

They both backed up further and retaliated with a burst of crimson flames and blue flames respectively. The flames clashed, engulfing the air between them in an inferno. Samuel, however, had more power behind his attack, causing Catherina to screech and twist, her body spiraling around the flames, but the heat still singed her side.

She roared in fury as her regeneration kicked in healing the burn. She then charged to clash with him again sending another destructive shockwave outwards.

The battle raged on for over half an hour and neither party seemed to be showing any signs of exhaustion. Each bloody injury was instantly healed by their natural regeneration.

Samuel fought with the skills he learnt during his training but he was still unable to fully overpower his sister who was fighting with just her feral dragon instincts.

Each strike sent shockwaves that damaged their battle ground badly. The shockwave from another clash of their heads caused the two to be pushed back, with Samuel quickly following up with a sharp swipe of his tail.

Catherina somersaulted backwards, allowing her to nimbly dodge his tail strike. The wind pressure from the swing of his tail cut through some of the trees like a sword.

The two beasts roared at each other, and with a beat of their wings, suddenly shot off the ground into the sky.

Once in the sky, they clashed once again; the force of the clash being greater than before.

"The strength of their attacks have increased...how is that possible?" Sylvia wondered.

"I guess being in the sky gives them better maneuverability. You'll notice their speeds have also increased resulting in a greater force when they clash", Sylvester explained.

"You're right. Also, it's good they took this battle to the sky. With the way the ground is ripped apart with each of their strikes, I sincerely doubt this location would be recognizable on the map ever again", Dr. Michelson commented.

"I agree. The damage so far is already unrepairable", Delgato added his observation. As for the Griffins, they could do nothing but stare at their two monster children clashing in the skies above their heads.

Samuel dodged a sharp slash from Catherina's claws and he threw a slash of his own connecting with her jaw. He then sped up suddenly and rammed into Catherina's body causing her to gasp for breath as she was sent flying backwards. She roared in anger as she charged at him once again.

He quickly dodged as Catherina tried to spear him in the gut with her shoulder and he followed up with a back-flipping swing of his tail, nailing her in the chest and jaw, knocking her upwards.

The battle raged across the sky, each dragon a blur of elemental destruction. Samuel fought with the disciplined fury of a leader, his flames scorching the clouds as he struck with precision. But Catherina fought like a storm—wild, relentless, and without fear.

She clashed against him again, slamming her tail against his ribs. The impact sent him spiraling downwards, crashing through the treetops of the valley below. The pines and acacias snapped under his massive form, and water sprayed into the sky as he skidded into a nearby lake.

.......................

For a moment, all was silent except for the rippling water.

Just then, Dr. Michelson had an alert on his device. "Oh no! this is bad!" Dr. Michelson sighed. "What's wrong Doc.", Sylvester asked. "We've got trouble", he responded and tapped the communication device, in his ear.

"Samuel, come in; can you hear me?" he asked over the communicator.

"Is this important? I'm kind of in the middle of something here Doc.", Samuel responded wearily in his draconic voice as he laid, floating on the surface of the water.

"I'll be brief. There is a satellite camera that will be moving overhead soon. You need to end this battle before an image of you two fighting is captured", he informed Samuel through the communicator.

"Easier said than done Doc. Isn't Lisia able to do something about that? Can't she change its trajectory or something?" he asked. "If its trajectory is changed, it would draw unwanted attention. It is the satellite used in updating the worlds map. The best Lisia can do is to buy you time. You need to stop holding back. Don't forget…she is a dragon as well; she's more durable than you realize", Dr. Michelson informed and chastised.

"Okay, I understand. I'll try my best to end this quickly", Samuel said with a sigh.

"What happens if their images are captured?" Vivian asked. "There will be an image of two dragons engaged in a violent battle semi-permanently on every device with a satellite view of the world map".

"The only reason why people like those from the Pentagon or the other government security agencies haven't been snooping around too much is that they have yet to be given a reason to worry. In some places, even the knowledge of their existence is still treated as an urban rumour, or a prank from people with good computer skills. They are not willing to sacrifice resources just to chase after a rumour".

"Lisia has done a great job wiping out anything that could serve as undeniable proof of their danger so as to not incite chaotic panic in the populace. If the government and the people should get proof from a source of their own like this satellite camera of such creatures as dragons displaying destructive power similar to tactical nukes, they will most likely fear the danger of such power freely moving across the sky and seek to destroy them-resulting in them literally breathing down our necks at every point".

"Also, since there has only been one dragon sighting, if a genuine image of both of them fighting in this location winds up on the internet, people will wonder how many dragons are truly in existence. It will draw the attention of weirdos, geeks and fanatics to this location. Imagine if they came here and saw them face to face. We've been careful so far to prevent Samuel's image from being captured by any other satellites or drones all throughout his training", Dr. Michelson explained.

"I get it. This is a case of unwanted publicity", Delgato chipped in as he observed the sibling battle.
