Chapter 264: Storm Rising
On the auction floor, everyone's gaze fixated on the black iron seal, eyes shining with desire and anticipation.
"So, this is a Heaven-grade spiritual treasure…"
Lin Langtian's gaze also rested on the black iron seal, and he felt an intense, almost concealed surge of energy emanating from it. It was a force far beyond any Earth-grade treasure he had encountered.
"Starting price: 8 million Nirvana pills," Song Tai announced calmly, glancing at the massive audience.
The price was steep, but not unreasonable for a Heaven-grade treasure.
"Eight million…" Lin Langtian muttered, frowning slightly. While this starting price was manageable, he knew fierce bidding would drive it far higher. Even though he had obtained a considerable amount of Nirvana pills in the Four-Mystic Sect ruins, he was nearly depleted now. Competing for the Heaven-grade treasure might be beyond his means.
"Eight and a half million." As Lin Langtian pondered, Feng Cang of the Storm Dynasty called out the first bid, his sharp gaze scanning the crowd with an air of dominance that warned anyone who dared to compete against them.
Lin Langtian smirked as he glanced toward Feng Cang. He knew the Storm Dynasty sought to challenge him, but he wasn't particularly concerned. In fact, he found himself slightly amused. The Storm Dynasty's obsession with the Heaven-grade treasure could work to his advantage.
Lin Langtian thought, "Let them win it, and after they've secured it, I'll simply take the treasure from them by force, spending not a single Nirvana pill."
"Nine million!" scoffed Mu Lin of the Moon Dynasty, refusing to back down.
"Haha, if you're all so determined to have it, then I, Mo Fen of the Fire Dynasty, will join in!" called out another voice. A bare-chested man with a blazing tattoo raised his bid with a grin. "Nine and a half million!"
The crowd could barely keep up with the rapidly escalating bids. Only the Super Dynasties could throw around such staggering sums without hesitation.
"One million!"
Amid the clamor, the price was eventually driven to a jaw-dropping 10 million Nirvana pills by the Forest Dynasty. Many turned expectant gazes to Lin Langtian's section, thinking he would surely enter the fray. But surprisingly, Lin Langtian remained still, uninterested in the frenzied bidding.
Relieved, the other bidders continued, anxious to avoid another powerful competitor.
As the bidding continued with no new surprises, Lin Langtian leaned back and waited, opting out of the predictable competition for the Heaven-grade treasure.
Finally, Feng Cang raised his bid to a commanding 17 million, his sharp voice cutting through the noise. "What we at the Storm Dynasty want, no one can stop us from getting!"
The other dynasty leaders looked frustrated and fell silent; 17 million was beyond their reach.
"Announce the result, Master Song," Feng Cang said with a cold smile, turning to Song Tai, his gaze briefly resting on Lin Langtian, who remained unfazed.
"Final bid, 17 million Nirvana pills!" Song Tai confirmed, scanning the crowd before announcing the conclusion. The auction closed at an unprecedented price, and Feng Cang's hand tightened around the pouch containing 17 million Nirvana pills as he passed it to Song Tai. In turn, Song Tai sent the black iron seal soaring toward Feng Cang, who caught it eagerly.
With the Heaven-grade treasure in his grasp, Feng Cang turned, his gaze as sharp as a serpent's as he sneered at Lin Langtian. His aura surged, and his voice filled with venom.
"Lin Langtian, it's time to settle our score."
The Storm Dynasty members behind him, including Meng Lie, rose, their eyes filled with hostility, each releasing an aura that created a stifling tension across the auction hall. Faces around the hall blanched as they sensed the murderous intent emanating from the Storm Dynasty. It was clear they had waited only for the Heaven-grade treasure to finalize their vendetta.
Lin Langtian met Feng Cang's icy stare with a dismissive smirk. "You think you're worthy opponents?"
Meng Lie scowled at the insult, a bloodthirsty gleam in his eye. He took a step forward, barely restraining himself, but Feng Cang raised a hand to stop him.
With a twisted smile, Feng Cang sneered, "You may have survived the Northwest and stolen two ancient inheritances to reach the Heavenly Rankings, Lin Langtian, but the higher you climb, the harder you fall. And today, you will fall."
Feng Cang's voice dropped ominously as he turned his gaze toward the distant sky.
"Brother Qian, Brother Zhao! Lin Langtian is here. Join us!"
