Chapter 271 - Chapter 271: You're the Greedy One.

Chapter 271: You're the Greedy One.

The last time I went to the Steward was because of a Tier 2 merit.

Normally, Tier 3 merits can be collected at the front desk.

Aside from necromancer spells, there were also spells from other factions.

Wu Heng's gaze fell on the skill books.

[Animate Objects]

(Description: Within casting range, non-"magic objects" will "come alive" under your command, lasting until the spell ends.)

Wu Heng raised an eyebrow.

Making objects come alive...

Seeing this skill, scenes from cartoons immediately flashed in his mind, like witches making brooms sweep the floor and teacups pour water.

It felt like the tone of the magic had suddenly changed.

But he had to admit, this kind of spell was quite intriguing to him.

After exchanging for the spells he needed, he could get this one to play around with.

He continued looking at the other spells, each with its own effects.

Some could alter the terrain and environment, while others, like "Ice Spike," directly condensed water elements for attack.

Unlike in Blackstone Town and Rentam City, where there were no skills to choose from,

the skills here all seemed quite good and useful.

After looking through them, Wu Heng said directly, "I'll take this 'Bone Transplantation.'"

"Alright." The staff recorded it, and Wu Heng put the skill book away.

Actually, for normal combat, [Death Aura] would suit him better, as it creates a toxic mist area with negative attributes.

It would be effective for trapping enemies or hindering pursuers.

But what Wu Heng considered was—

the repair of the skeleton soldiers' bodies in the zombie world.

Currently, over half of his skeletons were missing arms or legs, and most of them were frequently fought Level 5 or higher skeleton warriors.

If these skeletons could return to the battlefield, Wu Heng's forces and combat power would see a noticeable boost.

After securing the skill book,

Wu Heng called over the two women waiting nearby and left the Guild directly.

...…

Central District, 'Snowburn Neighborhood.'

Though not the best location on the island, it was still home to wealthy merchants and nobles.

At the main entrance, some workers were packing up their tools, seemingly about to leave.

Wu Heng and his group walked over.

A foreman saw them and quickly walked over with a smile, "Miss Andviel, esteemed sirs and miss."

The commission was issued from the Guild,

so he had only met Andviel before, but judging from their positions, he could tell something about them.

So he greeted them all.

Andviel nodded, "Will it be finished today?"

"It's already done; we're just waiting for you to inspect. If there's anything unsatisfactory, we can make adjustments promptly." The foreman said.

"Let's take a look."

Andviel said, and the group entered the gate together.

The front courtyard was spacious, with a stone-paved path and a swimming pool on one side, though currently empty with some fallen leaves inside.

Passing through the courtyard, they entered the main building.

Unlike their residence in Rentam City, this building had four floors, each roughly 120 square meters.

The first-floor lobby featured a dark stone fireplace with a vibrant oil painting hanging above.

Opposite was the sofa and coffee table.

The foreman followed behind, softly explaining the layout of the building.

The first floor included the living room, dining room, kitchen, and two bedrooms.

The second and third floors were mainly bedrooms.

The building's design was intended to meet the needs of servants, guards, attendants, or family members.

For Wu Heng, these were practically unnecessary.

He only had two maids, and the skeleton attendants didn't need to rest.

But there was no better allocation for these rooms, so they were all made into bedrooms.

The fourth floor was Wu Heng's private space, including a bedroom, study, bathroom, and laboratory.

They inspected each area and found no issues.

The foreman continued, "Miss Andviel, we've also pre-installed the lines you requested. You can see them with a slight pull."

He pointed to the ceiling.

You could see the ends of embedded wires.

Andviel glanced at Wu Heng.

Wu Heng said to the foreman, "No issues, collect the final commission at the Guild tomorrow."

Hearing that there were no problems,

the foreman smiled, "We won't disturb you any further. If there are any changes needed later, just let me know."

"Alright."

The foreman saluted again and left the building with his workers.

...…

Once the workers were gone,

Minnie cheered excitedly, clearly fond of the mansion.

"Alright, go choose your rooms. If you want to stay together, that's fine too." Wu Heng said with a smile.

Minnie stuck out her tongue, "It's you who wants to stay with us, Master!"

She finished and pulled Andviel along to choose their rooms.

Wu Heng also went up to the fourth floor, first checking the bedroom, then entering the study.

He took out the entire bookshelf from his space ring and had 'Skullcrusher' set it against the wall.

Thump, thump, thump~!

Footsteps echoed from downstairs.

Minnie stood at the door and called, "Master, do you need us to make the bed?"

"Come in." Wu Heng said.

The two entered the room and began making the bed.

"Wow, Master's bed is so big; the three of us could sleep here with no problem." Minnie said as she worked.

Andviel shot her a look, "If you want to stay, just say it. Stop hinting at the Master!"

"I didn't, besides, we were already staying together at the Guild dorm!" Minnie mumbled.

"You're just greedy!"

The two bantered while making the bed.

They then continued to the bathroom and set up the heated bathtub.

...…

Wu Heng sat in the study.

He took out today's acquired [Bone Transplantation] and began reading.

According to the 'Book of Necromancy,' Bone Transplantation was developed to address damage sustained by skeleton attendants in battle.

A well-suited skeleton attendant was as valuable as a precious artifact.

Therefore, repairing damaged skeletons was a significant focus for mages.

Built upon 'Transmutation' spells, Bone Transplantation was developed.

Limb repair wasn't about reshaping limbs but rather 'assembling' them.

Parts from other fallen skeletons or remains and bones from corpses were reattached to the missing areas.

This aligned with the "transplantation" aspect of its name.

Wu Heng read carefully until he reached the last page.

A prompt instantly appeared.

[Skill Unlocked: Bone Transplantation]

...…

After unlocking the skill, Wu Heng placed the book on the bookshelf behind him.

Then he exited the study.

Andviel and Minnie were downstairs, hanging paintings and decorations.

"Vie, are you going back to the Guild this afternoon?" Wu Heng asked.

Andviel helped Minnie with a chair and replied, "Yes, if anything comes up, I'll let you know, Master."

Wu Heng nodded, "Alright, come back early tonight. The place is unfamiliar; don't get lost."

Andviel laughed, "Master, I'm not that clueless!"

Minnie hopped off the chair, saying, "If Sister Vie gets lost, just shout, and I'll come get you."

"Just don't get lost yourself!" Andviel retorted.

Wu Heng thought for a moment, "Minnie, go with Sister Vie this afternoon and come back early; it'll be nice to have company."

"Alright, and we can pick up some supplies on the way back."

"Okay."

The three busied themselves in the house for a while, then the two women took two skeleton attendants to the Guild.

Wu Heng went up to the fourth floor, opened a portal, and headed to the zombie world.

...…

It was also afternoon here.

It must have rained last night; there were still damp patches on the ground.

Li Yanhong approached from a distance, with Barson acting as a bodyguard behind her.

"Are we going straight to kill zombies?" Li Yanhong asked.

The previous plan was to clear the zombies along the way.

To quickly open the road to the city, allowing more survivors to come while speeding up the search for Xiaoxiao's mother.

"Not in a hurry. Are there any bodies here?" Wu Heng asked.

Li Yanhong frowned at him, "Human or zombie?"

"Zombie."

"I'll ask!" Li Yanhong picked up the walkie-talkie to check if any zombies had been killed.

After the communication, Li Yanhong said, "There's one, stuck on a convoy brought by a survivor group."

"Have them take the body to the skeleton neighborhood."

"Alright!" Li Yanhong nodded and relayed the instructions over the walkie-talkie.

"Let's go; we'll head over too."

The two arrived at the skeleton neighborhood.

Not far from the entrance lay a bloody zombie corpse.

In life, it seemed to be a stylish person, wearing a white shirt and suit.

Wu Heng immediately cast [Bone Transplantation].

A halo spread out, and necromantic magic enveloped Barson.

Barson walked over to the body.

He tore open the corpse's chest, pulled out two ribs, and attached them to his own body.

The necromantic magic connected the damaged parts with the new bones.

Li Yanhong's eyes widened.

Especially when the chest was torn open and the ribs snapped.

She shuddered slightly.

Wu Heng stood by, observing and feeling pleased with the results.

Barson's damaged parts were repaired; aside from a slight color difference, nothing else was noticeable.

His attributes hadn't changed at all.

"Bring the body and follow me inside." Wu Heng said.

Barson dragged the body and followed him into the neighborhood.

Inside stood a large number of damaged skeletons.

Wu Heng cast [Bone Transplantation] again, and the halo spread.

Seven or eight damaged skeletons began to move.

With cracking sounds, they divided the corpse's bones among themselves.

Leaving only a pile of rotten flesh behind.

Li Yanhong's eyes widened even more.

Watching the skeletons reattach their broken limbs.
