Chapter 1 - THE PROMISE UNBROKEN

Rain poured down relentlessly, casting a gloomy veil over the desolate landscape. The wet, muddy ground squelched beneath the feet of three figures, their hoods pulled up against the torrent. Water dripped from the brims of their hoods, creating tiny rivulets that merged with the puddles below.

As they trudged through the mire, their footsteps left behind a trail of indistinct impressions, quickly filled by the pouring rain. The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth and decay.

One of the figures, its voice low and gravelly, spoke up, "I suppose this is the place from where the noise was coming."

The other two figures slowed their pace, their eyes scanning the surroundings with a mix of caution and curiosity. The rain-soaked landscape stretched out before them, devoid of any signs of life or civilization. The only sound was the relentless drumbeat of the rain, punctuated by the occasional distant rumble of thunder.

The second hooded figure nodded in agreement, their voice barely audible over the rain. "Yeah...it looks like it, dattebaro."

A girl, her voice bold and fearless, cut through the murmur. "Let's just move inside already!"

As she spoke, the trio approached a crumbling structure, its entrance a gaping maw in the side of a hill. The ruin loomed before them, a testament to the ravages of time and nature.

The once-majestic entrance now lay in ruins, overgrown with vines and creepers that seemed to writhe like living tendrils. The air around the entrance seemed heavy, thick with the scent of dampness and decay.

Above the entrance, a crumbling archway still stood, its stones cracked and worn, with hints of ancient carvings now barely legible. The archway's peak was lost in the darkness, shrouded by the tangled foliage.

As the trio stepped closer, the rain drummed against the ruin's walls, creating an eerie melody that echoed through the desolate landscape. The structure's walls seemed to absorb the sound, exuding an aura of foreboding and secrecy.

Three hooded figures, including a bold and fearless girl, approach a mysterious location on a rainy day. They follow the source of a noise to a crumbling ruin, overgrown with vines and creepers. The entrance is a gaping maw in the side of a hill, with an ancient archway still standing above it.

As they stood before the ruin's entrance, one of the hooded figures nodded and said, "Got it."

The soft-voiced figure responded, "dattebaro..."

Their words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken understanding. The girl, however, seemed undeterred, her boldness unwavering. She stepped forward, her eyes fixed on the entrance.

The rain continued to pour down, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The air was thick with tension, as if the very atmosphere was waiting for their next move.

The ruin's entrance led to a sprawling structure, with crumbling pillars that stood like sentinels, their cracks and crevices home to hardy plants and vines. The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth and decay.

As they ventured deeper, a figure emerged from the shadows - a boy, wearing ninja sandals moved with a quiet confidence, his eyes scanning the surroundings.

The girl's gaze followed him, her voice barely above a whisper. "Looks like a long battle took place over here."

One of the hooded figures grunted, a noncommittal "Huh," while the other remained silent, their eyes fixed on the boy.

As they pressed on, the ground beneath their feet began to shift and tremble. The earth was scarred, with huge gaps and cracks that seemed to stretch on forever. The girl's dark hair fluttered in the faint breeze, her voice full of awe. "Who in the world fought here?"

The blonde-haired boy's eyes widened, his voice filled with wonder. "Look at all this destruction...it's like the very foundations of the earth were torn apart."

The group stood at the edge of the chasm, their footsteps echoing off the walls as they gazed out into the unknown. The ruin seemed to hold its breath, waiting for their next move...

On the ground, a Hirashin kunai lay abandoned. One of the figures pointed, "You go that side."

The other nodded, "Alright."

The blonde-haired boy's green eyes filled with grief and despair. He walked towards the kunai, his footsteps slow. As he picked it up, the black-haired kid with blue eyes spoke, "Isn't that..."

But the blonde-haired boy cut him off, "Yeah, dattebaro."

He gripped the kunai tightly and began to put it in his bag, where his tools were kept. The bag was worn, with scratches and scuffs from many hardships

The group stood silent, watching the boy's actions. The air was heavy with unspoken emotions.

"Hoshi, what's wrong?" the black-haired boy asked, but his words trailed off as he saw the sword. His eyes widened in shock, mirroring the blonde-haired boy's expression.

The girl's thoughts were a million miles away, but the blonde-haired boy's voice snapped her back to reality. "Hoshi-Hoshi!"

She blinked, confused. "Huh?"

"Don't let your unreal thoughts conquer your mind," the blonde-haired boy said, his voice calm but firm.

But Hoshi's gaze drifted back to the sword. "Huh...but it's his sword. Why would he leave it?"

The black-haired boy's annoyance boiled over. "What the heck is this?!"

Hoshi's voice continued, "And that means..."

But the blonde-haired boy's outburst cut her off. "Hoshi! You, of all people, are regarding him as dead?!"His anger was easy to see, and it was very different from his usual calm behavior. The way the group interacted with each other had changed, and there was now a strong feeling of tension between them, like a spark of energy.

Hoshi's eyes blazed with a mix of fear and determination as she clenched her fists. "No, I never wanted it to come to this," she whispered, her voice trembling.

The blonde-haired kid's expression turned stern. "Hoshi, I need you to go back to the village and inform Kakashi Sensei about what's happened here."

As he placed a hand on her shoulder, Hoshi's gaze flashed with anger. She shrugged off his hand, her eyes sparkling with defiance. "Just what are you trying to convey here?!My father is nowhere to be found and you're telling me to go back to the village and play the sad part!?"

The blonde-haired kid's grip on Hoshi's shoulders tightened, his eyes wide with surprise. He hadn't expected her to lash out like that. For a moment, he just stared at her, his mouth agape.

Then, his expression changed. His eyes softened, and he looked at Hoshi with a deep understanding. "Hoshi, that's not what I meant," he said, his voice gentle. "I know you're strong, and you can handle this. But sometimes, strength means knowing when to let go dattebaro."

Hoshi's eyes flashed with anger, but the blonde-haired kid's words struck a chord. She felt a crack in her armor, a glimmer of doubt. What did he know about her strength? About her father's disappearance?

Hoshi's gaze shifted to the black-haired kid, her expression skeptical. "You're siding with him?" she asked, her voice laced with a hint of disappointment.

The black-haired kid nodded, his eyes serious. "I'm just being realistic, Hoshi. We don't know what we're up against. If someone has defeated them.. that's a level of power we can't ignore."

Hoshi's eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched. "You think I'm not strong enough to handle it?"

The black-haired kid's expression softened. "That's not what I said, Hoshi. But you're not like us. You're... untrained. Unpredictable. And that makes you vulnerable." But still she continued with her same statement and was not ready to leave. At last when the black haired kid lost his temper he spoke rudely to her.

His words cut deep, his voice laced with a venom that made Hoshi's eyes flash with anger. "Listen, don't you dare think that we will listen to you just because your father is nowhere to be found. Mine has too," he spat, his face twisted in a scowl.

Hoshi's face reddened, her hands clenched into fists. "Why you—" she began, but the blonde haired kid's voice cut her off.

"Quit it, you two!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the air. His eyes blazed with frustration, his jaw clenched in annoyance.

Hoshi's eyes still flashed with anger, but she bit back her retort. His anger was a rare sight, and she knew better than to push him further.

His gaze turned to Hoshi, his expression still fierce. "Hoshi, go and inform Kakashi Sensei right away," he growled, his voice low and even. The anger in his eyes was still simmering, but he was trying to keep it in check.

Hoshi's expression changed in an instant. Her anger melted away, replaced by a deep despair. She felt useless, like she was of no help to anyone. Her eyes drooped, and she made a sad face.

"Fine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The blonde-haired kid, was taken aback. Just two minutes ago, Hoshi was furious and refused to go. Now, she seemed defeated, her spirit crushed. He wondered if he was the reason that sudden change.

Hoshi turned her back to him, her shoulders slumped in defeat. "You should better keep up your promise," she said, her voice laced with a mix of sadness and warning. "Do you get that, Shinnachiku?"

Shinnachiku's eyes narrowed, his mind racing. She seem so broken. He wanted to reach out to her, but something held him back.

Shinnachiku's voice was barely audible, his words laced with emotion. "Thanks...Hoshi," he whispered, his eyes locked on her retreating figure.

As she walked away, he called out, his voice still low but filled with conviction. "I'll keep my promise!!"

Hoshi stopped in her tracks, her back still turned to him.

Shinnachiku continued, his voice steady. "Cause never going back on my words...is my ninja way." He punctuated his vow by touching his thumb to his chest, his eyes burning with determination.

Hoshi felt a small spark of hope ignite within her. She thanked Shinnachiku silently, her heart a little lighter.

The black-haired kid,Yahiko, snorted, a smirk twisting his lips. "No one's really immune to your words, Shinnachiku."

Shinnachiku rubbed the back of his head, a sheepish grin spreading across his face. "I guess so!"

But as he turned to walk away, his expression turned resolute. In his mind, he made a fierce promise: "Dad, you'd better be alive...dattebaro."
