Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Respect the rules

Lina was just a kissing —if Lina had to give herself entirely to Zach right then and there, she wouldn't have hesitated for a second.

Zach, of course, had no reason to turn down the embrace of a beautiful woman. He pulled her close, relishing the warmth and soft perfume that clung to her, his hands and lips moving with bold, unrestrained confidence.

Watching the two of them kiss so openly, as if no one else were in the room, Suzie and Bonnie felt a surge of jealousy. Their eyes reddened with envy, wishing they were the ones curled up in Zach's arms instead of Lina.

A moment ago, they were still speculating how generous Zach might be with Lina. Would he send her a cute cash transfer of $1000 or maybe go big with $2500?

They never expected him to buy out her entire shopping cart.

From where they sat, they'd clearly seen the total—over $7,800—including that unmistakable Louis Vuitton bag.

Right then, they realized just how deep Zach's pockets really ran.

If he had just splurged on that premium Imperial Set earlier, it could've been chalked up to personal indulgence or a flashy way to impress women. Rich guys often did that—it made them feel good to spend big on themselves.

But dropping nearly eight grand on a woman he'd only just met?

That was something else entirely.

They'd only known each other for a little over an hour. She danced well, sure—but just for that, he gifted her nearly $8,000 worth of luxury?

It was insane. Unbelievable.

Men with this kind of wealth—they weren't just rare. For girls like Suzie and Bonnie, they were practically mythical.

Across the room, Anya stared at the two locked in their heated kiss, a confused expression on her face, as if trying to work out her own feelings about the scene.

After savoring the moment a little longer, Zach playfully tapped Lina's chest. She took the hint and slipped off his lap with practiced ease.

Zach smacked his lips, chuckled, and said, "Strawberry? Not bad. I'm a fan."

"Ugh, you're the worst!" Lina replied, half-embarrassed, half-indulgent, her cheeks flushed.

"Haha, come on, let's keep the drinks flowing!"

Zach's tone was light, his mood unshakably high.

Lina, ever the attentive one, stood up immediately and reached for a bottle of Ace of Spades.

"Let me pour you another, babe," she said sweetly.

Damn, she was quick on the uptake.

Right then, Suzie draped herself over Zach's other arm and gave him a playful pout. She leaned in close, her voice laced with charm.

"Zach, you're playing favorites. I want a little gift too…"

If all he'd done was send a small Venmo or hand out a gift card, Suzie wouldn't have minded. But watching him give Lina thousands of dollars while she stood by empty-handed? That stung.

She knew Lina had the advantage—her dance major gave her an edge on the floor, and her performance tonight had captivated Zach completely.

Still, Suzie couldn't help but feel a little indignant.

Lina might know how to move, but Suzie had been the one massaging Zach's stomach before the show even started!

She had a sultry, mature presence, and when she turned on the charm, she knew she could be irresistible.

But Zach didn't so much as flinch.

He looked at her, expression unimpressed, and said firmly, "I told you—only the best dancer gets the prize."

With the system working behind the scenes, Zach could've easily cleared the shopping carts of the other three girls too. It wouldn't have cost him anything, not really—and it would've earned him even more money.

But he didn't plan to.

There was no need.

As the old saying goes: the problem isn't a lack of wealth—it's the imbalance of it.

Whether everyone gets nothing or everyone gets the same, there's no resentment. No comparison.

But if you hand out equal rewards to everyone, the gratitude vanishes. They stop feeling lucky, and start feeling entitled. Worse—they'll start thinking you're a sucker.

And Zach had no intention of being anyone's fool.

On the contrary, when there's only one prize, the person who receives it—Lina, in this case—feels genuinely touched, while the others feel the sting of imbalance. If they want a shot at future rewards, they'll be motivated to work harder to please me.

There's no need to rush into squeezing out profits right away. There'll be more than enough opportunities down the line.

Zach believed this was the mindset a truly wealthy person should have.

With the system on his side, the money would only keep flowing. But what mattered more was cultivating the right mindset. It wasn't enough to just be rich—he didn't want to be some flashy, shallow new-money type. He wanted to be the real deal.

To him, money wasn't just a figure in a bank account, nor was it merely spending power. It was influence. It was leverage. It was a weapon to shape outcomes and steer people.

He remembered earlier when Suzie had leaned in and rubbed his stomach—it had made a decent impression at the time.

But now, seeing her ask outright for a gift? That annoyed him.

Everything changes with comparisons. Compared to Lina's earlier approach—thoughtful, restrained—Suzie's behavior came off as greedy.

Zach didn't mind spending money on you. But you couldn't ask for it. That crossed a line.

Noticing the subtle frown on his face, Suzie's heart skipped. She realized she'd made a misstep and quickly tried to recover.

"I'm sorry, Zach. That was a dumb thing to say. Please don't be mad at me, okay?"

Her voice turned syrupy sweet, almost cloying. At the same time, she clung to his arm, pressing her chest against him like a girlfriend trying to win back favor with a pout and a smile.

"What's there to be mad about?"

By now, Lina had returned with the drink. Zach took the glass from her, then gently pulled her back into his lap and answered in a calm, even tone.

"But every game has rules. If you're going to play, you've got to respect the rules. Want a reward? Earn it next time."

"I understand. I messed up. It won't happen again," Suzie replied quickly, nodding as she grabbed a fresh glass and filled it to the brim.

"To make it up to you, let me share a drink with you, Zach."

Zach clinked glasses with her, took a slow sip, and then passed the glass to Lina.

Lina leaned forward, set the wineglass down on the table, and settled right back into Zach's shoulder, as obedient and poised as ever.
