Amara walked back,as she tried to locate the guest house Lucien offered her to stay at, she couldn't feel it at first
But then she felt it at the back of her neck. Eyes were on her. The heavy kind of stare that makes your instincts whisper: Run.
She turned around slowly.
But she saw nothing .
But someone was there.
Hidden in the shadows .
Watching.
High above, tucked behind the upper balcony of the council chamber, someone stepped back into the shadows.
Theo.
Second-in-command. Loyal to Lucian… on paper.
He leaned against a stone wall with his arms crossed, his sharp eyes still locked on the spot where Lucian and Amara had stood.
They were too close.
And that was a problem.
Lucian was slipping. Letting the human in. Letting her talk to the council. Letting her stay.
Theo didn't trust her. Didn't trust any outsider.
And Lucian?
He was too stubborn to see what she was doing.
Theo exhaled through gritted teeth.
If no one else would protect the pack from her… maybe he'd have to do it himself.
Even if it meant going behind Lucian's back.
