Chapter 11 - Skill of King of Netherworld

Nathan, on the other hand, walked to the two bodies, eager to test the skill of his class, King of the Netherworld.

The skill of this class was very simple: it created undead. But Nathan had two forms of undead he could create.

The first was called shadow extraction. In this method, whoever would be turned into an undead would lose their original look and appear in a shadowy form.

The second was called original extraction. In this method, whoever would be turned into an undead would maintain their original look with a few minor changes.

Now, each form had its own advantages and disadvantages.

Firstly, for original extraction to be performed a complete corpse was required, while for shadow extraction even an incomplete corpse was sufficient.

Secondly, the undead in its original form had a force crystal of its own, while the undead from shadow extraction did not. The original extraction undead could, thus, increase its strength by absorbing more force crystals, while the shadow extraction undead could increase its strength by absorbing more shadows from the shadow extraction.

Thirdly, undead of the shadow extraction did not possess consciousness of its own and could only follow commands, while the undead of the original extraction possessed a slight bit of consciousness and could make small decisions on its own based on broad instructions given to it.

And finally, the shadow extraction came with a special feature: these undead could be hidden in Nathan's shadow or the shadow of any other person, but the original extraction could not be hidden- they would always remain in their original form.

At present, Nathan had the ability create only a single undead. It had something to do with his soul strength, which was not sufficient enough to handle more than one undead.

Nathan was clear about who he wanted as his undead. He placed his hand on the skull of the dog, and it was enveloped in a crimson hue; moments later, its body stirred and it was back on its legs. It let out a small growl and a shudder to his body to remove the non-existent water from his body.

The appearance of the dog had not changed much—it looked almost the same, with only its eyes having changed colour to dark crimson.

The only difference was that the strength of the dog had been reduced from level 3 to level 2. It was given that even if Nathan used the original force crystal of the creature, the strength of the undead would be reduced compared to its original one.

That is why, despite using the force crystal which the dog had already within itself, its strength had been reduced.

Nathan, for no specific reasons, had decided to go with original extraction.

"Nathan," Elia came sprinting towards him, "what is this?"

"A skill unique to me," he said.

"Necromancy," she replied—after all, who had not read or watched some form of fantasy novels and anime?

"Something like that," Nathan replied. "But this skill comes from my class, King of the Netherworld."

"What is a class?" she questioned immediately.

Before Nathan could even think of an answer, a message was displayed to them:

[Class refers to a character's role, abilities, and skillset, often linked to a broader archetype or profession within the fantasy world.]

[A person can awaken/choose their class upon reaching level 10. In some rare cases, a person may awaken their class earlier.]

"You awakened your class before level 10?" Elia asked in astonishment.

"Yes," he replied. "It was a reward for something like being the first person to kill an abaration on this planet."

"Wow," Elia was ecstatic hearing this. "That is why you are so strong."

"Probably," Nathan answered vaguely.

Nathan then split Ryan's chest and pulled out the force crystal. It was the first time for him and Elia to see the force crystal of a human, and it was quite different from the force crystal of an abaration. Instead of the usual black colour, this force crystal was slightly reddish in colour.

Nathan then casted his glance towards the dog who had been standing obediently with its gaze towards Nathan. He smiled and then tossed up Nathan's force crystal in the air and gave a mental command to the dog.

The dog let out a growl of agreement and leaped as it took hold of the crystal in its mouth and started to absorb it. It took few minutes for the dog to completely absorb the crystal.

"Good," Nathan said as he patted the dog on its head in satisfaction. "From today you would be called- Parax."

"This is a fine skill, Nathan," Elia commented from the side as she chuckled, "but not a fine name."

Nathan could only shake his head in amusement.

"We now have an additional member in our group," Elia added further.

Nathan nodded as he said, "Yes, but we need to continue increasing our strength."

"Yes," she replied.

"We should return to our place now," Nathan said as the duo started to walk back to the house they had intruded upon.
