Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Chaos

As the sun's descent into the horizon cast a warm orange glow over the station, chaos erupted. People ran wildly in every direction, their frantic movements a stark contrast to the eerie calm that had settled over the trio.

Before them stood a terrifying sight: a legion of demons, their ominous presence seeming to darken the very air around them. Nara's eyes widened in horror as he stuttered, "Wh-what? How? Where did they come from?" His voice trembled with fear, and his eyes darted wildly between the demons.

The demons all shared a similar, unsettling appearance. Their faces were devoid of eyes and noses, with only a wide, ominous mouth filled with sharp canine teeth. They ravaged the station, attacking anyone who crossed their path. Blood splattered everywhere, and the air was filled with the piercing screams of the terrified.

Code's eyes widened in terror as he stared at the carnage. 'What's happening?' he thought, his heart racing wildly. But before he could process the chaos, Hina's voice snapped him back to reality.

"Snap out of it!" she exclaimed, her tone commanding. A security official, dressed in a blue uniform and cap, rushed over to the trio. "Get out of here!" he shouted, his legs shaking with fear.

Hina turned to the official, her eyes gleaming with determination. "What about the people stuck inside?" she asked, her voice laced with tension and worry.

The official shivered, his voice barely above a whisper. "We've contacted WAS. Sorcerers are on their way." Hina's expression remained skeptical, and Code spoke up before she could voice her concerns.

"We can't leave them there," he said, sweat dripping down his face. "There are still people inside." The official's face etched with concern, and Nara revealed, "We are sorcerers!"

The official's expression changed from skepticism to surprise as Nara and Hina produced their badges, proving their identities. The official's eyes narrowed as he inspected the badges, then nodded.

"Alright," he agreed. "But what about him?" He pointed to Code, who didn't have a badge. Nara's response was quick. "He forgot his badge."

The official looked unconvinced, but the urgency of the situation took precedence. He turned to leave, signaling to the people to follow him. "Thank you," he said, dashing away.

The trio turned their gazes back to the demons who had began to dash towards them, their presence terrifying.

"Where should we go?" Hina asked, her voice urgent, her eyes darting between Nara and Code. "We need to be quick."

Nara's eyes scanned the area, his hands crackling with flames. "I'll go East," he replied, his voice firm.

"Straight up!" Code shouted, already leaping into the air, his blood coalescing into a dagger in his right hand.

Hina's hand rested on the hilt of her katana, her eyes flashing with determination. "Then I'll go West," she said, her voice steady.

"Remember, we're on a rescue mission," Hina reminded them, her voice firm, her gaze piercing. "Go!"

The trio scattered, each dashing in their designated direction. Nara charged forward, his palms erupting with flames, his movements swift and deadly. A crimson burst exploded from his hands, engulfing the demons in a wave of fire that ripped through the air.

"Hell flame burst!" Nara exclaimed, leaping into the air as the flames consumed the demons. He landed on the ground, the impact sending shockwaves through the floor, and the demons exploded in a gory splatter.

Nara sprinted into the hallway, determined to rescue those still trapped. He burst through the doors, his flames illuminating the dark hallway, and his eyes scanned the area for any signs of life.

Meanwhile, Hina dodged a demons' attacks with ease, her katana flashing in the dim light. She counterattacked, her sword slicing through the demons' necks with a sickening crunch.

"Dark crescent slash!" Hina shouted, swinging her katana forward. A dark crescent materialized, shooting forward at an otherworldly speed, ripping through the demonic forces like a hot knife through butter.

The path cleared, Hina sprinted into the Western hallway, her movements swift and silent. She burst through the doors, her katana at the ready, and her eyes scanned the area for any signs of life.

Code clashed with the demons, his blood coalescing into a scythe in his right hand. "Blood scythe!" he exclaimed, bringing his scythe down in a crushing arc.

The demons plunged toward Code like a swarm of ants, but he was ready. He compressed his blood around his fists, reinforcing it into a glove-like structure, and charged forward with a battle cry.

His fist connected with a demon's face, sending it flying into the air. Code dashed forward, his blood compressing into a drop, and shot a pressurized blood jet through the demons, cutting them into shreds.

Code sprinted down the deserted hallway, his eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of life. Suddenly, he spotted a woman cowering in the corner of an office, a demon creeping towards her with an unholy hunger in its eyes.

The woman's hands trembled wildly as she huddled into herself, her eyes wide with terror. The demon's jaws yawned open, revealing razor-sharp fangs, and Code knew he had to act fast.

With a fierce battle cry, Code burst into the room, his fist flying towards the demon's skull. The impact was brutal, shattering the demon's head like a fragile vase. The woman looked up, her face etched with horror, as Code loomed over her.

"You need to leave ma'am!" Code said, his voice low and urgent, as he yanked the woman to her feet.

As they stumbled into the hallway, Code saw the faces of other survivors, rescued by Hina and Nara. He gently set the woman down, but her gaze remained frozen, her eyes haunted by some unseen terror.

Just as Code turned to leave, the woman's hand shot out, her fingers closing around his trouser like a vice. Code spun back, his heart racing.

"M-my daughter," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Please, save her."

Code's expression softened, and he nodded reassuringly. "I'll bring her to you," he promised, before vanishing into the darkness, his eyes scanning the hallway for any sign of the missing girl.
