Chapter 3 - Where am I

Trunks POV

"Why? Why must I endure this ceaseless torment?" Was his fate to be forever without a home, condemned to restart his life at every turn? He had only recently joined the patrol after enduring the destruction of his reality and the loss of his mother and master three times over. How much more could he bear? He had agreed to this journey, but every attempt to become a responsible person, someone others could be proud of, ended in ruin. Now, he was lost, just as he had been before, back to square one.

His mission, as always, was to survive and somehow find a way to a better future. Steeling himself once again, Trunks observed the black void he was floating in. Absolutely nothing was in sight until he felt a tugging at his Ki, or more specifically, his soul.

It was as if life itself was beckoning him to a utopia. Along with hints of desire that mirrored his own, he longed to be a hero who could save everyone and his home from destruction. This desire resonated within him, prompting him to question its origin: "Who are you? "

It called itself Avalon, and it asked for his help, his sword, to help save the world and bring hope to those who suffer in that world.

"Of course, I'll help, friend, though I don't know exactly how to get to you.". Suddenly, it was silent again, as though Avalon had never existed. "Hm, why not explore"? Trunks propelled himself forward with a wave of his arms. Exploring this void wasn't against his mission anyway; he was sure he would get out.

For what felt like an eternity, trunks waved his arms and floated through the void until he saw a speck of light that appeared to be the same type of light he saw outside his Time Machine when he would travel through time; it had a rainbow glow with a base of white. Propelling himself towards it, he grabbed it.

It immediately entered his body, apparently attracting some of its friends because out of nowhere, specks of rainbow light began appearing everywhere, and his soul sucked it in like a vacuum cleaner, not leaving a sing speck of the light left; it was then he felt a familiar friend call to him.

"Avalon, you have returned. Have you figured out how to get me to you?"

Avalon seemed sadder for some reason, but it did say that it had found a way to summon him, telling him to wait for a pop-up or screen to appear, and it did.

[Entity Avalon is attempting to summon you, do you accept]

[Yes/No]

"Of course, yes, get me out of here." Trunks had finally escaped that place, and it returned to its quiet, pursued by many but explored only by a rare few.

...

*Clang*The sound of swords hitting together

rang out, followed by the hissing whistle of a single steal before another impact blared, waking Trunks from his slumber and quickly sitting up.

In front of him, he saw two individuals fighting, and a red-headed boy who felt lat Avalon sat scared out of his mind, shaking, not for himself but for the tiny blond KnightKnight fighting with the blue-haired spearman. Apparently, he had heard Trunks get up because he now turned his head towards him.

"Are you another one of them? If so, you, please save her life!!" the boy said, pointing to the woman with the blade trunks who could only sense, not see. "I don't care what you do to me; just please save her," he screamed as the blue-haired spearman entered an unassuming stance.

It would be a good way to test out his power in this world, and he was inclined to help him because the boy and girl somehow shared the essence of Avalon, if only vaguely. Plus, it could build up his new identity in this world as a human being named Trunks.

"Sure thing, kid. I'll try my best, "Trunks said, giving his best noble voice and smile. Why not give the kid hope of a hero? Gohan and Tapion sure didn't hold back in their routine, so why would he?

Drawing Zeta, trunks prepared himself to intercept whatever the spear was preparing, which was definitely something big, as he felt an energy radiating off of the man. It wasn't Ki Trunks who hadn't been able to sense that since he arrived here; instead, he felt something mystic and unpredictable flowing through the air and the bodies of everyone he had seen so far.

"Gáe Bulg!!! "

Trunks immediately went to parry the attack as the spear reached the KnightKnight in seconds, yet something was off; it was as if the world had already determined the spear would hit her, avoiding Trunks altogether." No!" He wouldn't disappoint the boy that reminded him of himself

Bracing herself for impact, Artoria felt dumb. Had she known it was the Prince of Light she was engaged in battle with, she would have been more careful. Now, all she could do is rely on luck to deflect. She muttered what could be her last words:" I won't be a Failure."

But death never came; in fact, she seemed utterly unharmed.

"Don't worry, brave warrior, For I am the unmitigated champion of Justice! Who tolerates no evil!!" The spear that never failed to hit its target was not deflected but instead blocked. "whew, that was actually kinda powerful." Focused on the immense drain he felt, Trunk hadn't noticed the shocked looks of all other parties.

"Fuck" The spearman leaped away in retreat, leaving the premises immediately, while the girl gained space and pointed her nothing at Trunks" Who are you? Another servant?"

"I'm the person who just saved your life, Trunks briefs,"

In a short talk, Trunks learned the names of the two he had saved, though he wasn't sure If he had actually saved Saber; in fact, she seemed pretty peeved at the fact that he stepped in. The other one, called Shirou, was just as confused as he was and was undoubtedly curious about the magic that was just shown.

"What exactly is happening?" Shirou asked Saber still slightly panicked.

Before either Trunks or Shirou could get an answer, she weirdly looked around and suddenly sprinted away, leaping over the walls and buildings of the courtyard they were in, simply stating, "Two more. This should be quick."

Sensing the direction Saber went in, Trunks followed, motioning at Shirou to stay put.

A few leaps later, trunks arrived to see Saber about to deal a killing blow on a man in red while some girl stood behind him. Trunks wouldn't let Saber kill them, not while they didn't have any answers yet.

But before Trunks could take action, a shout somehow stopped Saber in his tracks. "Saber stop!!!" No doubt it was Shirou.

"Shirou, are you insane!" Trunks and Saber yelled at the same time.

"You could have gotten hurt."

"We should have been able to defeat Archer and his Master here."

Trunks looked at the girl behind the man in red. She had a look of relief on her face and could see the gears turning in her head as she reworked the situation in her mind. She quickly realized that 'there were more people here than there should have been,' and it would make this war a lot more complicated.

"She saved my life before, and I couldn't let you kill her or her friend; I still don't know what's going on."
