"What!?" - Flabbergasted, Ryan is shocked to hear the news that he has a terminal illness.
"I'm sorry to say this, but its not curable and you will most likely die within a few days"
As I'm walking out of the hospital, questioning what I'm going to do for the rest of my life, I see a pebble. Nothing out of the ordinary, except . . . it glowed? At least, I think it did? Did it?
I couldn't have just been seeing things, it definitely glowed blue. I'm sure of it. Probably.
I totally could just be seeing things? But... it looked so... real?
As I move to pick up the pebble, it looks so normal. Nothing weird about it, it's just, odd. I swear I could have seen it glow for a second.
--------------------------------------------------
My home, a small apartment, in a, well, apartment building, is a cozy little place that I will apparently only be living in for the next few days before I unfortunately die.
I sat down at my computer and learned about terminal illnesses. Such as, did you know that most terminal illness patients only have around six months left to life? It really sucks that I got left with the grand old "few days".
I take a look at the pebble on my desk, the one I had previously thought was weird for glowing. No signs of anything yet. I stare up at my ceiling, wondering something similar to "What's next". I can't exactly remember the details because of what "happened next". I take another look at the pebble to see it's shinning again, although, a little bit more than before? Okay, I take that back, a LOT more than before. It's so bright I squint my eyes and... it's gone?
I seriously questioned what just happened because the pebble disappeared. Like, flat up, GONE from existence.
I notice that I start sweating and have the sudden urge to hurl up my lunch from today. I immediately rush to the bathroom and look at myself and realize... my eyes are blue? I definitely had brown eyes before just now.
Okay, Okay, aside from the blue eyes and the pebble disappearing, everything is fine. I take multiple deep breaths wondering, "What the hell just happened" and going through every potential possibility in my head.
Finally, I came to the conclusion that all of that, was a hallucination. None of that was realistically possible at all and definitely did not happen. It. definitely. did. not. happen.
----------------------------------------------
"I'm afraid I just can't explain why that happened. You're vital signs are all mostly normal, we ran an MRI scan on you and found nothing to be mostly out of the ordinary. We can only mark it up to your terminal illness somehow causing the hallucination, although there is no evidence that's the cause of it."
"That, doesn't make any sense at all. I definitely know that I saw the pebble and my eye color changed you have to belie-"
"Listen, I know its hard for you to accept but you're going to die extremely soon and there are lots of other people just like you who struggle with coming to terms with that fact. If you want, I know a group for people just like you who can give you support. Plus, it's not even possible for your eye color to change and it's still brown."
Confused, "It was definitely blue. I checked it only about 15 minutes ago, I KNOW WHAT I SAW"
"Again, I can't do anything for you right now, I know its hard but its only for a few days. NEXT!"
As I walk out of the hospital, still angered by if I'm even okay or not and the doctors reaction, I spot another tiny round pebble in the exact same spot. Just like before, it glows green for a split second and fades away. As I'm reaching to pick the pebble up, it flashes a bright purple, blinding me temporarily, and fades away. I look around, my eyes still in pain, and find nobody else is paying any attention, almost as if it never happened.
A thought suddenly clicks in my head and I start rushing home, pushing people out of the way.
-------------------------------------------
The mere second I get home I go into my bathroom, once again, look at myself and notice, my eye color changed once again, but instead, its mixed. My left eye is blue and my right eye is purple.
Sweating, not just because of the change but also because I sprinted to my apartment, I notice one small detail in the mirror. Some kind of floating text. Its glowing a dark shade of blue and I can't exactly read what it says. I think it says "W##C#ME USER". I squint my eyes to try and see more but they're going blurry, and I'm suddenly coughing violently. Right before I pass out, I notice a second box of floating text. I think, that's an ugly shade of purple, but I cant read what is on it. And then, it all fades to black.
