"Talent, huh..." Avinash sneered, his gaze drifting out the window where the golden sunlight bathed the land in a warm glow.
Just then, the door creaked open, and a chubby youth waddled in.
"Brother, you're standing by the window again? Basking in the morning sun as always?"
The boy was shorter and rounder than Avinash, but their faces held no resemblance.
As Avinash turned to look at him, a complicated light flickered across his eyes.
This boy... this was the very same "good brother" he had been thinking of. The same brother who, with the help of his adoptive parents, had dug out his True Yang Bone—all so he could awaken his own bloodline.
"This is the one... the youngest future True Immortal. The one who will set a record that even the successor of the demonic path couldn't break..."
Avinash's expression shifted into a warm smile as he raised an eyebrow.
Meanwhile, Abhimanyu, the chubby youth, looked down shyly at his toes, which were barely visible beneath his round belly.
"Who would've thought this fatty has the Chaos Qilin Bloodline? I was just thinking about talent, and here comes talent waddling in by itself… haah."
"I saw your window open, so I thought maybe we could go together for our morning exercise," Abhimanyu said with a wide smile. "Tomorrow is the talent awakening ceremony, and after that, we'll finally set foot on the path of cultivation."
Abhimanyu wasn't surprised that Avinash had skipped morning practice yet again. What irked him, though, was that even with such laziness, Avinash remained handsome and seemingly talented.
They were born to the same mother, barely a few weeks apart—yet, why had the heavens been so unfair?
Why does he have everything? Looks, talent, presence… and me? Just fat and average...
These thoughts had festered in Abhimanyu's heart for years, like a boulder pressing down on his chest—growing heavier with every passing day.
Avinash chuckled inwardly. "This fatty… During tomorrow's ceremony, he won't show any talent. People will laugh at him, mock him. What they won't realise is that the Chaos Qilin bloodline requires a massive amount of yang energy to awaken. Without it, he'll look like a failure, even though he actually has one of the strongest physiques."
It wasn't until a True Immortal's tomb was discovered in the Lotus Realm that everything changed. That tomb had drawn the attention of powerful experts from the upper realms. Some among them used ancient artifacts to open portals and descend.
One old man, sharp-eyed and discerning, spotted Abhimanyu and the faint remnants of Avinash's True Yang Bone. To him, Avinash's bone was worthless. But the Chaos Qilin bloodline? That was something else entirely.
Instead of taking it by force, the old man explained everything to Abhimanyu. And this so-called brother of his—he didn't hesitate. He begged his parents for help. And those hypocrites… they agreed without blinking.
"Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai," Avinash thought, cold amusement flickering in his eyes.
But now, it was time to act normal.
"Aa… Fatty—I mean, brother. I'm not feeling it today. One day of exercise won't change anything, and talent can't be forced, right? You go ahead. I'll rest."
He waved lazily, dismissing Abhimanyu with a fake yawn.
"Alright," Abhimanyu sighed and turned to leave, visibly disappointed. After the fatty vanished from sight, Avinash quietly shut the door and locked it carefully.
"Don't worry, fatty. I'll free you soon—from this pitiful life. I'll grant you eternal peace," Avinash muttered as he walked into the attached bathroom and locked it from the inside.
He stripped down to his undergarments, folded his clothes neatly, and sat down under the tap.
"System, take out the Body Purifying Lotus and suppress its medicinal aura."
[Ding! As you command, Host.]
A transparent barrier instantly formed around the bathroom.
Moments later, a stunningly beautiful, colourless lotus bloomed in mid-air, its powerful medicinal essence threatening to fill the entire mansion.
Thankfully, Avinash had prepared well. Had this lotus bloomed unsealed, the entire city would have been affected.
Without wasting time, he popped the lotus directly into his mouth.
The next moment, a lightning bolt seemed to crash through every cell of his body. A surge of pain and transformation took over—cells shattered, reformed, died, and were reborn. Blood surged like rivers crashing into a sea, essence spread like wildfire across his limbs and meridians.
Though the process was violent beyond measure—like thunder from the heavens or the roar of a thousand storms—no sound escaped the barrier.
Eventually, Avinash lost consciousness. His body slumped to the floor, drenched in blackened grime and crimson filth—impurities that had been forcibly expelled from his very core.
No one knew how much time had passed.
When Avinash finally opened his eyes, the sun was already high in the sky. It was noon.
The pain was gone, but his body felt a bit weak.
Then the stench hit him—rotten, foul, disgusting.
Wrinkling his nose, he immediately turned on the tap and began scrubbing himself clean, washing away the filth with soap and water. Once done, he changed into a fresh set of clothes and stepped back into the bedroom.
"System, show me my status."
