Chapter 1 - # Chapter 1: A New Beginning

# Chapter 1: Awakening in the Unknown

Meeks had never been particularly remarkable. A software engineer by trade, his days were spent debugging code, sipping lukewarm coffee, and dreaming of a life less mundane. He was the sort of person who blended into the background, unnoticed and unremarkable. But fate, as it often does, had other plans.

It started with a flash—bright and blinding. One moment, Meeks was crossing the street on his way home from work, earbuds pumping out the latest true crime podcast. The next, he was floating in an endless void, surrounded by shimmering lights that danced like fireflies in the darkness.

"What... What is this?" Meeks stammered, his voice echoing strangely in the emptiness. He reached out instinctively, but his hands met nothing but air—or whatever passed for air in this surreal place.

A voice answered him. It was deep and resonant, yet oddly mechanical, as if a machine were trying to mimic human speech.

**"Welcome to your new existence, Meeks."**

He froze. "New existence? What are you talking about? Where am I?"

The lights around him began to coalesce into shapes—geometric patterns that pulsed with an otherworldly energy. The voice continued, calm and unyielding.

**"You have died in your previous world. Your soul has been selected for transference to a new realm where science and magic coexist in harmony. You will serve as a catalyst for change."**

"Died?" Meeks repeated dumbly. His last memory came rushing back—a screeching car horn, a blur of headlights, and then... nothing. "No way. This has to be some kind of dream."

**"This is no dream,"** the voice replied firmly. **"You have been chosen for reincarnation. Your new life begins now."**

Before Meeks could protest further, a glowing interface materialized before him—a translucent screen filled with cryptic symbols and text that seemed to shift and rewrite itself as he stared at it.

"What is this? Some kind of video game?" Meeks muttered under his breath.

The voice ignored his question and continued its explanation. **"You have been granted access to the System—a unique interface designed to aid your progression in this world. Your class reflects your potential to merge scientific principles with magical practices."**

"Wait a second," Meeks interrupted, trying to process the absurdity of it all. "Science *and* magic? How does that even work?"

The patterns around him began to shift again, forming images—glimpses of a world unlike anything he'd ever seen. Towering spires crackling with electricity stood alongside ancient castles glowing with arcane energy. People wielded staffs that emitted laser-like beams while others tinkered with machines powered by enchanted crystals.

**"You will learn,"** the voice assured him. **"Your arrival marks the beginning of a new era in this world—a fusion of logic and mysticism."**

Meeks felt a mix of awe and trepidation as he watched the scenes unfold before him. It was beautiful, yes, but also overwhelming. He wasn't a hero or a genius; he was just... Meeks.

"What if I don't want this?" he asked hesitantly.

The voice paused for a moment before replying. **"Choice is irrelevant. The process has already begun."**

And with that ominous declaration, the void around him collapsed into light—a kaleidoscope of colors that swallowed him whole.

---

When Meeks opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on soft grass beneath an unfamiliar sky. It was daytime, but the sky wasn't blue—it shimmered with hues of violet and gold, as if painted by an artist who had grown bored of conventional colors.

He sat up slowly, his head spinning from the abrupt transition. Around him stretched a lush landscape dotted with peculiar flora—trees whose leaves glowed faintly and flowers that hummed softly when touched by the breeze.

"Where am I?" he murmured to himself.

Before he could gather his thoughts further, the translucent interface reappeared before him, hovering just within reach.

### **System Notification:**

Welcome to **Eryndor**, Realm of Scientific Magic!

Your first quest has been assigned:

**Quest:** Discover your surroundings and locate shelter before nightfall.

Reward: Basic Survival Kit

---

Meeks stared at the screen in disbelief. "A quest? You've got to be kidding me."

But even as he spoke, he felt an odd sense of clarity—a pull toward action that he couldn't quite explain. Maybe it was the System's influence or maybe it was his own survival instincts kicking in, but one thing was certain: standing still wasn't an option.

He rose to his feet, brushing dirt off his jeans—wait, not jeans. His clothes had changed too; he now wore something resembling a tunic made from lightweight fabric that shimmered faintly under the strange sunlight.

"Alright," he said aloud, trying to muster some confidence despite the chaos swirling in his mind. "Let's figure this out."

As he took his first tentative steps into this new world, Meeks couldn't shake the feeling that he'd stumbled into something far bigger than himself—a place where science met magic and where an ordinary man might just become extraordinary.

Little did he know that his journey was only beginning—and that Eryndor had plans for him far beyond what any System could predict.
