After another predicable day, its just me and James online. Its about 1am and we are trying to find a good game to play. I'm scrolling through the new releases section, going through the same copy and pasted match 3 games but with anime titties, lazy games that were made in a week maximum, and the occasional game that looks really good but costs a little too much for a game we will play for a day.
"How is it at your school?" Aiden suddenly blurted out, trying to start a conversation.
"Hmm?" I responded with.
"Like exams are coming up, are you revising or just winging it?"
"Winging it, I'll be honest, I don't even turn up to school most of the time anymore. My teachers told me to take some time off... after... you know?"
"Sorry man, I didn't mean to bring it up..."
"No it's fine, I just like to try to ignore it."
A moment of awkward silence broke out afterwards. But James was quick to break it and liven up my mood.
"You know I got a good predicted grade in my English exam! My teacher says I got a gift for writing and that I should try it!"
"And let me guess, you're going to write a story. You tried writing one about your favourite show in the past and got bored and all that's left is an unfinished opening." I coldly snapped back.
"Yeah but this time is different." James rebutted. "The only reason I got bored was because it didn't mean anything to me. Sure I loved that show, and I stand by the plot twist with Kugo was the best thing in the show."
"It was so obvious!" I jokingly said as I began to smug.
"La la la, I can't hear you! But anyway, my teacher told me I need to write about something I really care about. I love the action in the show and the characters, but I never got attached to the characters I made on the show. So my teacher told me to base it off of people I know, so I feel a real connection to the story."
Before he even finished his monologue, I could already guess what he was going to ask me. And I couldn't be more excited.
"So, do you want to be a char-" James spoke to slow for me as I interrupted with the more enthusiastic, "YES."
"That's awesome! I have a little form for you to fill out, I did one for my family and thought it would be nice to add you in there too!"
"Can you send me the form?" I replied
"Of course! Just fill it out with whatever you want, and I'll be able to add you into the story!"
And with that, the form was sent to me. Pure euphoria ran through my blood as I began to answer the questions. What do you want your character to be like? Well obviously I would want to be a cool badass who was cold and mysterious but always wanted to protect those close to him, no matter the cost. What would you look like? Easy question, a black trench coat with a mask he wears to hide his true identity. Is your character good or evil? I would say he has good intentions, but is afraid of doing bad for good reasons. What relationships does he have? Um... I guess he would have a beautiful younger sister who he cherishes for and would sacrifice his own life for. She would be kind, innocent and loving, have the most radiant smile and the ability to lift the spirits up of everyone around her... that's a little too on the nose. I'll just put he has a little sister he cares for. What powers does your character have? My eyes light up. I instantly start looking up the coolest and strongest powers out there. Fire is too boring and overused. Telekinesis is cool, but I would really want to be up close and personal in any fights. Super speed... maybe. NO. I got it. Void powers. Just think how cool that would be. I could hide in the shadows before leaping out with a sword made of pure dark matter.
Me and James brainstormed ideas for my character all throughout the night until the sun began to rise.
"I think that should be everything I need for your character." James exclaimed exhaustedly. "I've got a story planned out, I think I could introduce you as a mysterious figure early, but then put you in a main role near the end of the story. You don't mind waiting do you?"
"Of course not, it's your book anyway. I'm really excited but I'll wait."
"That's perfect, anyway Ima get off to sleep now, I am tired and want to get started on it when I wake up."
"Alright then. Have a good night. Cya."
"Cy-" James attempted to say before he disconnected from the call being cut off, leaving me all alone, and with nothing else to do, I went to bed as well.
