Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Wealthy Lady and the Eccentric Sister

Chen Lu asked in confusion, "The competition doesn't specify that Breeders can't participate. This year, the first contestant in the Star Silver Tournament was a female Breeder."

Li Cunxu explained, "My bad for not being clear. The competition I was referring to is the one held at school, not the official events organized by the alliance."

Cao Xianzhu reminded everyone to be safe on their way home and not to casually reveal their innate talents before announcing the end of the school day.

There wasn't much going on today, so keeping the students at school didn't make much sense. As for classes? They would officially start tomorrow after the class assignments.

As soon as Cao Xianzhu left, the classroom immediately became noisy.

Many girls surrounded Chen Lu, adding her Pet Communication Account, while Li Cunxu was pushed out of his seat by the surge of girls.

On the way home, apart from discussing who had awakened impressive talents, most of the conversation revolved around choosing which Pet Beast to get.

Those with money planned to buy their Pet Beasts from the Creature Pet Store, while those without money waited to select the free Pet Beasts provided by the alliance.

The potential of Pet Beasts from the Creature Pet Store was much better than those given for free by the alliance.

However, the vast majority chose the alliance's free Pet Beasts because Pet Beasts were simply too expensive. A regular Pet Beast cub cost at least 100,000, and one with better qualifications could cost several hundred thousand, which was unaffordable for most families.

As they stepped out of the school gate, a red sports car caught their attention.

It wasn't the car that was eye-catching, but the stunningly beautiful girl inside.

Her hair fluttered in the wind, and her star-like eyes gazed at the world, unconsciously captivating everyone's attention.

Several people, distracted by her beauty, bumped into the lampposts on either side of the school gate, and one even tumbled into the flower bed by the roadside.

The principal, watching this scene from the rooftop, twitched his lips a few times.

The quality of this year's students is a bit concerning!

The girl waved her hand, and Chen Lu ran over to her.

Li Cunxu guessed that this was probably someone from the Molan Chen family coming to pick up Chen Lu.

The girl whispered a few words to Chen Lu, who then got into the car and waited, while the girl stepped out and walked towards Li Cunxu.

Looking for me? Probably not, Li Cunxu didn't know such a beauty.

When the girl reached Li Cunxu, she said with a hint of annoyance, "Why are you staring at me?"

Everyone's staring, but you're only picking on me? Li Cunxu was furious. Are you looking for trouble?

Li Cunxu was angry but didn't act on it.

There's a rule in the game "Deity Control": the more beautiful the person, the more dangerous they are.

With this girl's looks, she could be the face of the Ten Holy City Eye Capital. Such a beauty was not to be trifled with.

Li Cunxu's thoughts raced, and he quickly came up with a solution.

Apologize!

As long as I apologize quickly, no one in the Eye Capital can mess with me.

Before Li Cunxu could apologize, the girl spoke.

"Don't you know how to call me 'sister'?"

"Huh?"

The girl pinched both of Li Cunxu's cheeks.

"Call me 'sister'."

Who are you? Am I that easy?

"Sister!"

The girl said discontentedly, "That didn't sound sincere at all. Say it again."

Don't push it.

"Sister."

The girl said, "Little Xu, you still haven't recognized me. I'm so disappointed!"

She knows my nickname. Could she be someone I know?

She knows Chen Lu. Could she be...

Li Cunxu tentatively asked, "Chen Xi?"

"Hmm, it seems you haven't forgotten me."

Chen Xi nodded in satisfaction, then put her hands on her hips and said angrily, "Why didn't you call me 'Sister Chen Xi'?"

This woman changes her expressions so smoothly, like a Sichuan opera face-changing master.

Chen Xi straightened Li Cunxu's collar and asked, "What talent did you awaken?"

"Bountiful Pasture."

"That's a great talent. Here, take this as my congratulatory gift." Chen Xi handed Li Cunxu a Contract Document.

Before Li Cunxu could take a closer look, Chen Xi patted his shoulder, said "Work hard," and left.

Chen Lu curiously asked, "Sister Chen Xi, what did you just give him?"

"A Pasture Land Deed located in the Pastoral Plains."

"Wow, that's so precious! But Sister Chen Xi, didn't you say you only have a simple lodging relationship with Li Cunxu? Why give him something so valuable?" Chen Lu was puzzled.

Chen Xi replied with a deep expression, "A deceased father, a missing mother, a paralyzed sister, and a hard-luck guy like him—if I don't help him, who will?"

Chen Xi's parents passed away when she was young. If no relatives had taken her in, she would have been sent to the Chen Welfare Institute or an external orphanage. Relatives avoided her, fearing she would be a burden. In her darkest moments, it was Li Cunxu's mother, Chen Lan, who extended a helping hand.

Although Chen Lan was Chen Xi's aunt, their blood relation was distant—they were merely distant relatives sharing the same surname. It was ironic that the closest relatives avoided her, while Chen Lan, who had little connection, embraced her willingly.

Chen Xi had three purposes for returning to Tongdu this time:

First, to find out who killed her parents.

Second, to uncover the murderer of Li Cunxu's parents.

Third, to help her younger brother.

"A Pasture Land Deed? That's a huge favor to owe."

Li Cunxu stared at the deed in a daze before accepting it. He needed this pasture, and as a transmigrator, he was confident he could repay the debt.

"She prepared the Pasture Land Deed in advance. It seems there are no secrets in the Awakening Day classes."

Li Cunxu tucked the deed into his pocket and boarded the bus home.

Today, the Creature Pet Store was bustling with rare Pet Beasts unseen in Tongdu. Li Cunxu didn't join the excitement—what was the point when he had no money? Going would only make him envious of others.

Li Cunxu took out his room key, opened the door, and was stunned.

His paralyzed sister, Li Anle, was sitting in a wheelchair like Stephen Hawking.

Li Cunxu froze, and so did Li Anle.

Li Cunxu narrowed his eyes. It seemed he now knew how the original owner of this body had died.

Without a word, Li Cunxu grabbed the claw hammer from the living room table. Li Anle quickly controlled the wheelchair's joystick, backing away.

"Brother, no, no!" Li Anle pleaded.

But how could the wheelchair outpace a person, especially when moving backward? With one strike, Li Cunxu shattered the wheelchair's controller, sparks flying from the wires.

Li Cunxu raised the hammer again. Li Anle, crying pitifully, looked utterly helpless.

"Brother, I was wrong. Don't hit me."

Though young, Li Anle was already a strikingly beautiful girl, and her tearful appearance was heart-wrenching.

Anyone else might have softened, but she was facing her own brother, who knew her all too well.

Li Cunxu brought the hammer down on Li Anle's wrist.

"Brother, please!" Li Anle's eyes welled with tears.

Li Cunxu sighed. "Wrong. At this moment, you should be screaming. What little girl wouldn't scream after having her wrist hammered, instead of continuing to beg for mercy?"

"Look at your fair little hand. It was hit by the hammer, but it's not even swollen, not even red."

Li Anle's adorable face changed, turning dark and venomous as she shouted, "I'm going to kill you, kill you!"

Li Cunxu sighed onc

e again, "You forgot, you already killed me this morning."

Li Anle looked puzzled, while Li Cunxu narrowed his eyes.

"It seems it wasn't you who poisoned me this morning. Are you the evil personality or the wicked one?"
