Chapter 4 - [Shadowhunters— Sanguine Escalation -2]

I broke through the earth that buried me in its embrace with an burst, quickly using my enhanced capabilities to fall on my knee.

I slowly looked up to see three individuals I had only seen on the screen before, if you didn't count this bodies memories.

Immediately as I took the world in with all the senses that came with being a vampire, I felt it deep in my stomach.

Hunger, hunger like I've never felt before.

" Simon?" Clary was the first to speak, all while she stood behind Jace who looked at me with wariness clear in his eyes.

Immediately a succulent smell hit my nostrils so hard that I felt the hunger triple, this causing my fangs to immediately elongate.

Luckily though, my will was stronger than my hunger.

I could smell where that smell came from, as if it were calling to me, but I again won over my hunger.

Tracing the smell back to Jace ad Clary was easy, fighting the urge to pounce on them was not.

I ignored them in favour of staring at Rafael, though my eyes dropped down to the two blood bags that they had seemingly prepared.

I didn't waste time and simply held out my hand, to the surprise of Rafael and Jace.

" A strong-willed one, not bad." Rafael said, a grin and glint of curiosity on his eyes as he quickly gave me the two blood bags.

It came to me only moments after I was quickly draining the blood out of the first bag that I wasn't adverse to drinking blood, luckily I had enough self-control that i didn't make a mess.

Well, I was still dirty from the dirt I just crawled out of so it didn't really matter.

The three infront of me atleast had the decency to wait for me to finish draining the second blood bag before they spoke.

" Simon?" Clary once more called out to me, looking at her I almost felt like flinching, a part of me that was still Simon seemingly hurt from the look she gave me.

Another part of me, the part that was truly me wasn't much affected though if you discount the fact that a pretty girl looked at me as if horrified.

I didn't know whether she was horrified at me being a vampire or the fact that she was the one who made the decision to have me fully transition into it though.

" What..." I muttered, my voice a bit hoarse even with the slippery taste of blood in my throat." What did you do to me?"

My question was clearly pointed at Clary, her eyes widened at my first words as all three of them watched as I looked at myself, at the blood that lightly stained my hands and lips.

" I-i..Si-Simon I-i had t-to." She sputtered, tears cascading down her cheeks.

All the while I simply looked at her, my emotions deadened for some reason that I didn't understand but quickly pinned the blame on whatever soul fuckery had commenced just moments ago.

" You died Simon." This time it was Jace who spoke up, seemingly speaking up for Clary." This was the only way."

" I-i'm s-so sorry!" Clary blurted, her hands on her mouth stifling her sobs.

Already seeing where this would probably go, I decided I had enough.

I needed to figure some things out, I needed to grow stronger and being here 'playing' Simon wouldn't grant me that.

So I channeled [Sanguine Momentum] and felt the world slow to a crawl before I blitzed faster than I ever ran before, passing though the multiple gravestones as if sliding through water.

" S-Simon! Wait!" I heard Clary's shout just as I ran through the gates of the graveyard.

My destination?

Home.

I needed to get my shit together.

—[Moments Later]—

I had been bolting through street after street for a while and after a while I finally arrived home.

I paused as I appeared right at the doorstep of my mother's house.

That single thought had me pausing.

' When did I start thinking of her as my mother?' I wondered for a moment before i let out a chuckle, the first emotion that i actually expressed.

At least it seemed that my emotions were stabilising.

Not wanting to delay any further I looked at the window of my room, then with the use of [Sanguine Momentum] I quickly scaled the walls and entered through it.

I looked around my room and smiled, it was better than the room that I had in my past life.

I closed my eyes and tried sensing anyone in the house and sighed in relief when I didn't hear the smell of blood or heartbeat.

So I immediately took a shower, shaved and cleaned up before opening my inventory.

In there I grabbed the [Bloody Orchid Cultivation Pill] and quickly opened the [Upgrade] function and quickly put it as the material for the upgrade.

[—Upgrade Tokens - 1—]

[—Input Item for Upgrade - Bloody Orchid Cultivation Pill—]

[—Upgrade Cost - 1 —][First Upgrade Discount]

I quickly sighed in relief at the fact that I had enough upgrade tokens, a benefit from the system that I was greatful for.

Quickly I initiated the upgrade and watched as a loading screen appeared over the item, seconds later and what used to be a blood red pill was now accentuated with golden runes all around it.

' Neat....' I thought as I opened its new description.

[—Bloody Orchid Cultivation Pill[Epic] - A Cultivation Pill refined from the rare Bloody Orchid which contains vast blood energy and blood concentration. Mostly used by blood energy cultivators to increase their affinity for blood and for refining blood type bloodlines to higher forms of itself.]

Looking through the screen I grinned, it went up in grade.

I didn't know how many grades there were yet but an epic ranked item was probably anything but common.

Quickly taking it out if the system I marveled at the even higher smell of blood that it emanated, this caused me to gulp before I quickly threw it inside my mouth before I entered the bathtub filled to the brim with water.

Just incase I excreted any 'impurities'.

It didn't take long before I felt my blood start boiling, heat building up inside me before with no warning, I blacked out.

—[An Hour Later]—

I awoke with a gasp as I huffed out the water that had gotten inside my throat.

I groaned as the heat inside me seemed to still be stirring up inside me, confused I looked at myself and paused.

My hands which had been way paler moments ago was now a healthy hue.

' Well....that's surprising.' I thought with a grin as I felt the strength inside my veins, I became stronger.

—[—]—

Looking at the two screens side by side I grinned, I had grown stronger.

Though I still didn't know how stronger than most vampires.

I also gained new abilities.

But the one that I was most excited about was the last ability.

I could now walk in the daylight.....

That was something that I hadn't expected to come out of this ordeal.

I already had plans on how to get the Daywalker ability, that would have been obtained by either drinking Clary's or Jaces blood due to their much more concentrated Angel blood from their fathers experiments on them.

Though this one seemed to be way better, the one that I wanted would just allow me to walk in the sun while this one would allow me to eat mundane foods and in doing so blend it way better than normal vampires.

Another thing was the ability to bend blood, I wondered how that worked for a moment but quickly pushed that down.

For now I had to prepare myself.
