Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Trip to Gringotts Wizarding Bank

[Skeleton Mastery], [Golem Mastery], [Soul Mastery] The first two passively enhance the attributes of summoned creatures and increase control, while the last one not only boosts various resistances passively but also improves the quality of their souls.

Therefore, the skeletons and skeletal mages summoned by Regulus Black were far from mindless. They had decent intelligence, could understand the summoner's intent, and were capable of both offense and defense, even completing tasks.

Currently, [Summon Skeleton] 7/7, [Summon Undead] 7/7, both skills were fully maxed.

Regulus Black looked at the flesh and gore scattered across the ground, pondering how best to deal with the remains.

As a former gaming nerd, Regulus quickly analyzed the situation based on his memory of various game mechanics.

The most fitting candidate, of course, was the grotesque and disgusting Abomination, a fat, three-armed stitched monster.

Although he could tolerate skeletons wandering around, a pile of rotting flesh? Yeah… no thanks.

However, looking at his skill tree, the [Blood Familiar] skill seemed like a perfect match. As for its appearance, he decided to base it on the character Zac from League of Legends. In the original game, Zac came in green or purple versions. now, he would simply be blood-red.

Originally, this skill was designed to share life with the summoner, but Regulus had modified it to be triggered through blood. He drew a small dagger, lightly sliced his finger, and let a few drops of blood fall into the pile of corpses and meat.

"Come forth, my Blood Familiar."

The few drops of blood flowed like lava, fusing all the meat chunks together, breaking them down and reforming them into basic blood matter.

The bloody chunks melted like ice cream white, red, and even hairy pieces all dissolving into a thick, fluid mixture.

It was like mixing paints on a palette, and in the end, only a translucent crimson color remained.

"Hehehehe… Zac-Zac! Hehehehehe…"

The newly born [Blood Familiar] stood over three meters tall, but all it could say was its own name, giggling like an idiot. One glance told you it was clearly brainless. But that was okay; the skill [Soul Mastery] could improve summoned creatures' intelligence.

After storing Zac into the skill tree, the display showed [Blood Familiar] 1/1. Regulus already knew that golem-type summons in games typically only allowed for one at a time. Still, now that he had transmigrated, he hoped he could summon more, even if the limit was seven. But that didn't seem likely.

He felt exhausted—both mentally and physically.

Only then did Regulus Black realize it was time to get some proper rest.

That night, over at Hogwarts, the young witches and wizards lay excitedly in their beds after the opening ceremony.

Late into the night, a tall, burly figure stood outside the front door of 12 Grimmauld Place. His expression was conflicted, and his magical prosthetic eye spun uneasily. He wasn't sure who had taken over the house, but since nothing outrageous had happened yet, the matter needed to be handled discreetly.

Perhaps it was best to consult Dumbledore first. Mad-Eye leaned on his staff and left, glancing back repeatedly as he walked away.

At dawn, after washing up thoroughly, Regulus Black stepped out with Kreacher.

The day after the start of the school year, Diagon Alley was noticeably quieter. The noisy young students had disappeared, and the shops now only had adult wizards browsing.

"The Leaky Cauldron, huh? Haven't been here in ages."

Standing before the pub that Muggles ignored entirely, Regulus Black let out a nostalgic sigh.

Pushing the door open, he entered to find just a few scattered patrons inside. Some were long-term residents staying in the rooms upstairs. Didn't they know those rooms were more like hourly rentals? Regulus scoffed inwardly with a Muggle's mindset as he made his way to the backyard courtyard.

He pulled out a wand and tapped several fixed spots on the wall. Moments later, Regulus Black stepped into Diagon Alley.

The wand he held was an old one from the Black family. he wasn't even sure which ancestor it had belonged to, but he was just borrowing it for now.

Another reason for coming to Diagon Alley, of course, was to purchase a new wand. Although Regulus now used a system that didn't require a wand to cast skills, regular magic still needed one.

It seemed that training in wandless magic needed to be prioritized.

Ollivander's Wand Shop was a must-visit, but for now, it was better to go to Gringotts and withdraw some money first.

Gringotts Wizarding Bank was a towering white building located at the junction of Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley.

Gringotts was known as the second most secure place in the world, only after Hogwarts, which is why wizards were willing to entrust their gold and treasures to it.

Gringotts was run by a group of goblins, and these goblins had strict rules: only they could guide clients on the cart ride through the spiraling tracks deep underground to reach the vaults, and only goblins could open the vaults and retrieve stored property.

They always had their own methods of preventing intrusions and followed a set of internal rules that restrained one another from leaking the bank's secrets.

Regulus Black stepped through the outward-opening, gleaming bronze doors, where goblin guards in scarlet-and-gold-trimmed uniforms stood at attention and bowed to him as he passed.

The second set of inward-opening doors was made of silver, engraved with a goblin warning to thieves.

Passing through the silver doors, he entered a spacious marble hall, where about a hundred goblins sat behind long counters, recording entries in large ledgers. Some were weighing coins on balance scales, others inspecting gemstones with magnifying lenses.

Regulus Black walked all the way to the innermost counter, the one designated for vault access by VIP clients.

"I need to open my private vault."

He handed over a metal key, something he had found in the old manor. In fact, every member of the family had their own vault.

Once upon a time, the family businesses were actively running, and upon reaching adulthood, each family member would receive a rather generous coming-of-age gift.

But now, those assets had either vanished, been confiscated by the Ministry of Magic, or seized by distant relatives from side branches of the family.

"May I have your name, please?"

"Regulus Black."

"Right this way, sir."

The goblin quickly confirmed the authenticity of the key and the identity of the user, and then led the group to a minecart that moved like a rollercoaster.

After a series of steep drops, twists, and turns, very few people could still tell which way was up.

However, Regulus Black was well aware that they were now over a hundred meters underground. The vaults here were clearly built by repurposing overmined tunnels.

Each vault door was custom-made, with different mechanisms and locking systems. Without the matching key and goblin magic, even goblins themselves couldn't open these vaults.

Regulus also knew that nearly half of the vaults here were ownerless.

After all, the previous two generations of Dark Lords had completely wiped out many wizard families and lineages. That was a fact.

So, this place was truly a treasure trove. Even though many wizarding families wouldn't store all of their wealth here, the collective amount was still massive.

As for how to take advantage of that, Regulus Black was in no rush he would wait for the right moment.

One had to admit, wizards were generally law-abiding citizens. The moment a Dark Lord appeared, the entire wizarding world was thrown into chaos.
