Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 : The seer

As Kevin stood amidst the swirling thoughts and emotions that had been ignited by the startling revelation, he felt as if the very air around him had thickened, pressing down with the weight of unspoken truths. The implications of the conflict he had just begun to understand loomed large, casting shadows over his consciousness. "So this battle is known as…" he began, his voice taut with anticipation, each word pregnant with the desire to uncover the name that would forever change his perception of this monumental conflict. The atmosphere crackled with palpable tension, like the heavy fog that blankets quiet streets before dawn, wrapping him in an embrace filled with mysteries waiting to be unraveled.

The system answered with a clarity that resonated with the gravity of the situation. "The overwhelming power of the void," it declared, the words reverberating in the silence.

A tempest of doubt clouded Kevin's mind. "Eh, what do you mean by overwhelming? I thought they were all supposed to be equal," he questioned, skepticism lacing his voice. His brows knitted together as he sought reassurance.

"Host, do you know why they are called seers?" the system inquired, its tone carrying a hint of expectation.

"Why would I know that?" he retorted, his voice tinged with a strange mix of confusion and humor, as if the very idea was absurd.

"Then allow me to elaborate," the system responded, delving into the depths of this intricate narrative. "The Celestial, the Seer of Beginning and the End— as their names imply, they serve as watchers of both the inception and conclusion of existence itself. Perhaps they glimpsed something they should never have seen, a forbidden truth that sparked this devastating war," it lamented, a touch of sorrow manifesting in its tone.

Continuing, it explained, "The Cosmos, the Seer of Creation and the Living— their name suggests that they are intertwined with the very fabric of creation. They embody the nature of existence, forever in a cycle of renewal, simultaneously the oldest and youngest entities in the universe, making them ageless in a profound sense."

"Then there's the Void, the harbinger of destruction, chaos, and eternal nightmares," the system continued, its voice heavy with foreboding. "As the name suggests, the Void is not merely one thing; it is a singular entity shrouded in enigma. We're uncertain if the Child of Void is an offshoot of the Void itself or merely a fragment, a mere echo of that unfathomable power. But one thing is clear—the reason the Void overwhelmed the other two Seers in the war lies in its unfathomable danger."

"Now, do you understand, host?" the system asked, almost expectantly.

"But you've only shared snippets of crucial information and haven't explained why they are so formidable," Kevin replied, a touch of disappointment seeping into his voice, reflecting his yearning for clarity.

"Host, you have yet to acquire the strength necessary to comprehend the full extent of this power," the system said, bitterness creeping into its tone. "The Void is well aware of our movements, constantly watching."

"How? If they are observing us, does that mean the Child of Void is watching us, too?" he probed, a spark of worry igniting in him.

"In terms of my abilities, the Void and the Child of Void are not yet complete; it's akin to them cultivating something new within themselves," the system clarified, its voice tinged with a mysterious wisdom.

"So, we're safe?" Kevin exclaimed, relief washing over him. "Thank you wonderful god who doesn't exist!"

"Nonetheless, you inquired why I, an entity whose powers rival those of the Cosmos, am not classified as a Seer," it continued, the sardonic edge creeping back into the narrative.

"Why not?" he asked, skepticism clinging to his words yet again.

"Apologies, host, but the depth of my nature is one you are not yet ready to grasp. However, here's something I can share with you," the system said, its tone shifting to a more personal note. "I am the Fourth Child."

"That's all you can tell me?" Kevin replied, feeling a pang of frustration growing in his chest, a tempest of questions swirling in his mind.

"I can't handle this random chaos anymore. My brain feels like it's about to explode," he exclaimed, determination flashing in his eyes as he pulled out his sword.

Without another moment's hesitation, he launched into action, striking vigorously at the training dummy before him, unleashing the pent-up energy that had been bubbling beneath the surface.

As he disciplined himself with the rhythmic swing of his sword, each motion blending the essence of light and darkness into a harmonious dance of combat, a thought dawned on him. "It's only one week until the semester starts," he remarked, his voice steady and resolved, as if he were reminding himself of a simple yet significant truth.

Little did Kevin know, the Celestial beings—the Seers—were already aware of his existence and were watching over him, shadows lurking in the corners of his burgeoning fate.
