Chapter 10 - Departure for Hogwarts

The holiday passed by quickly.

At King's Cross Station, Dylan was sent by his parents, who drove him there personally.

"Be careful, and once you get there..." Maeve reminded him.

"Have you got everything?" Hubert asked.

"Don't worry, I have all my personal items with me, and the rest of the stuff has already been sent to the school. I'll be careful," Dylan nodded.

He then added to his parents, "You guys don't need to work so hard, okay? When I become a wizard, I'll make big money. You don't need to tire yourselves out."

"Good son, it's not your turn to worry about us just yet," Maeve said as she ruffled Dylan's hair.

"Alright, no delays, go on now," Hubert said.

Dylan nodded lightly. "I'll write you letters from the school. Keep an eye on my owl."

"Don't worry, darling."

After bidding his parents farewell, Dylan, carrying only a travel backpack, entered the station.

It wasn't his first time there, his parents occasionally took him on trips when they had time off.

So, it didn't take long for him to find the third pillar between platforms 9 and 10.

Upon reaching the pillar, he noticed that the Muggles around him didn't seem to notice it at all. Even if they looked in that direction, they would quickly avert their gaze, as if they hadn't seen it.

Dylan watched as a young wizard rushed into the pillar, and the surrounding people didn't react at all.

Taking a deep breath, Dylan knew he had to overcome some psychological pressure before running into the pillar.

"Let's go!"

He closed his eyes and charged straight into the pillar.

In an instant, it felt like he was entering a void.

Then, after walking a few more steps, the feeling of emptiness quickly vanished, and everything around him brightened up.

"Boom..."

A red steam train arrived at the platform.

Steam billowed.

Dylan blinked, momentarily reminded of the near-silent high-speed trains, or even maglev trains.

"Although technology isn't at that level yet, the wizards must have used some spell on the train to speed it up, right?"

Once he stepped inside, Dylan noticed that the number of children and their parents around him had suddenly increased.

Since he didn't have family with him, he didn't need to wait. After the train came to a stop, he immediately walked up to the closest door.

The train's compartments could be freely chosen, as the ticket he purchased had no seat restrictions.

After boarding, he quickly found an empty compartment and entered.

Taking off his backpack, he placed it beside him and sat on the left side of the compartment.

He gazed out the window for a moment before retrieving a book from his item list.

Many of his things were in his item list, which saved on shipping costs.

After spending some time studying spells, Dylan realized that simply lingering on the surface of magic wasn't enough to master it.

One had to thoroughly understand the underlying meaning of a spell to truly reach its full potential.

He opened the book, the one he hadn't finished reading before leaving home.

It was also the book that Professor McGonagall had recommended to him at the bookstore—"Transfiguration Charm: Essentials and Brief Overview."

Opening to the bookmarked page, Dylan continued reading.

This book thoroughly explained the principles of Transfiguration spells and the important points to note when using them in various situations.

However, there was a section that delved into advanced Transfiguration spells.

Since Dylan had never attended class yet, there were parts of the advanced Transfiguration spells that he couldn't fully grasp just from reading.

But even for beginner Transfiguration spells, the book provided very detailed explanations and descriptions.

It covered everything from the basics to more advanced techniques, even discussing practical applications for Transfiguration spells.

It was undoubtedly an excellent resource.

If he could master everything in this book, perhaps his Transfiguration magic would also reach a higher level.

"I didn't expect that using Transfiguration spells in a sneak attack could have such a huge effect."

Dylan flipped to the section that explained practical uses of Transfiguration spells.

It depicted various scenarios and how Transfiguration could be employed in specific situations.

He recalled the magical wand enhancement function given to him by the system.

For a moment, his mind raced with many underhanded tactics, even dirtier than some of the ones described in the book...

"It feels like something is missing in the practical explanations in this book, or maybe the sneaky techniques for practical use aren't explained thoroughly enough."

With his six max-level spells, Dylan found it easy to grasp other spells.

Moreover, his experience from two lifetimes had elevated his thinking to a whole new level, enabling him to think of many ways to use Transfiguration to deceive others.

"Swish!"

The door to the compartment opened.

Two red-haired boys poked their heads inside.

"Hey, is it just you in here?" one of them said.

"Would you mind if we sit here?" the other added.

"I'm sitting alone, so you can come in," Dylan glanced at them.

In an instant, their names popped into his mind.

After they sat down, the two were eager to strike up a conversation with Dylan.

"Thanks! I'm Fred," one said.

"No, I'm Fred. He's George," the other corrected.

"Who says that? George, I'm obviously Fred!" they bickered for a moment.

Seeing that Dylan wasn't reacting, they turned back and tried again.

"By the way, what's your name?"

"Dylan," he answered casually.

After learning their names, he quickly realized that they were the Weasley twins.

Since they were here, that meant...

"Are you upperclassmen at the school?"

"Oh, of course!"

"Are you a freshman? That means you'll be in the same year as our little brother."

"But it doesn't seem like you'll be in the same house."

"Yeah, he's reading a book, but Ron never reads."

Ron?

So, that meant he was in the same year as Harry Potter?

Although Dylan had watched the Harry Potter films, he didn't remember the exact timeline, only the general events.

For example, one of these twins would die during the upcoming battle, but he couldn't remember which one.

"Looks like you're definitely going to be a Ravenclaw student."

"I think so too!"

"It's hard to understand, someone actually reading a book on the way."

"It looks like it's even a specialized book, not just a textbook."

"Oh my god, I have a feeling the Sorting Hat is going to send this little wizard to a certain house!"

"I told you earlier!"

"I agreed with you too."
