Chapter 9 - Fight (2)

A Ferocious Bite effortlessly struck the wounded leader's flank bringing his HP very close to 0. Fear filled the gaze of the wounded leader, who did not even have time to turn around to see his attacker before taking a simple blow from the latter.

"-200"

The scene left all the leaders shocked. They felt immense fear for this new guest. They had all seen him effortlessly attack and kill a beast of their own caliber. They may have had different strengths, but they all knew they belonged to the same level of power.

But when they looked at the flickering flames of the mass of black bones, a common thought gripped them all.

Escape.

But how could Drae'mon let them go free?

With a calculated gesture, he left the scene, sinking into the darkness of the forest. The place was not so dark as to be out of sight, otherwise Jeremy would not have had a chance to explore around, yet the forest was dark enough for a mass of black bones to blend into it.

And so fear gripped them all. Soon they began to flee, but not before emitting a scream, as if to announce a retreat.

But no one responded to the frightened shout of their leaders.

This made all of them even more cautious, and they began to flee in different directions. Even the two Putorius leaders, rather than fleeing together and having more hope of survival, panicked and fled in separate directions.

After all, all their members were dead, as were the beasts of the enemy teams.

Separating was not a wise choice, however.

It was at this very moment that Jeremy joined the fight, trying to stop one of the three enemy leaders.

He had been shocked by the combat power displayed by Drae'mon, who had managed to assassinate most of the enemy beasts without being noticed.

It was astounding.

This course of action had opened Jeremy's mind.

Then-

A Bone Spear darted toward the leader Razorfang, who managed to avoid it by a whisker, snapping to the side as his eyes fixed on the human. A low growl escaped his jaws, his gaze turned fierce, but instead of counterattacking, he turned sharply and fled.

He knew that if he slowed down here he would be killed.

So without thinking again, he ran away with all his might.

A few seconds later another Bone Spear was thrown by Jeremy. That hit the beast full force, which used the force generated by the blow to gain distance.

"-150"

"Wow, the difference in strength is so blatant...how can a simple summoning be more powerful than me," thought Jeremy stupidly, who wasted no time and chased after the beast that was gaining more and more ground.

Then again, he was much faster than Jeremy.

Meanwhile, Drae'mon had caught up with the leader Putorius who had been wounded earlier by the now-dead leader Ailurus.

Seeing the skeleton, panic swept over the beast's face. He knew he could not escape much longer, partly because he had a wounded paw that slowed him down.

So, turning sharply, he fired a fierce Airshoot at point-blank range into the skeleton's face, which jerked its head away, deflecting the shot toward its torso.

"-576"

This was the first blow ever taken by Drae'mon, not counting the shockwave of the battle between those two figures in the sky.

It was inevitable. However, that was all.

After using his ability, the leader was left defenseless. Drae'mon immediately used his claws to slow him down, after which came his most characteristic move.

A direct bite toward the beast's neck. Its HP collapsed in a rush, but that was not enough to kill it. But any struggle was futile, sooner or later he would die, if it was not in one blow it would be in two.

After its death, the skeleton went directly to help its master. The other beast had now run far away, and in the midst of this dense forest it was impossible to track it down.

One minute.

That was the time it took the skeleton to kill the three leaders.

"Boy, I didn't think it would be so easy."

"To say the least, we have gained an impressive amount of exp, all we have to do is reach level 5 and then complete the Rank up mission"

"But first of all, let's collect the loot."

He headed toward the Razorfang, the last leader killed by the skeleton. Unfortunately, it did not drop any cores.

After that he headed toward the Ailurus, getting his Core rank E lvl15.

Same with leader Putorius, he also dropped the same core.

Jeremy was about to go and pick up the rest of the cores dropped by the other monsters, when he noticed something that gave him pause.

He had noticed earlier that the abilities of his undead summoning matched the abilities of not only the Razorfang, but also the Ailurus. Which was strange since he, or whoever he was at the time, had used the ability on the carcass of a Razorfang. There was nothing else there.

This gave him pause, but with no clue available he ignored it.

Now seeing the corpse of leader Putorius, Jeremy seemed to notice a detail.

His corpse, besides being full of blood, was also filled with a strange green liquid.

"Poison," Jeremy blurted out.

"This is the poison that leader Ailurus used to slow down the beast."

"Could it be that if I used this corpse to summon an undead, it would develop the Poisonous Claw ability of that kind of beast, in addition to the Putorius' main Airshoot ability?"

Looking at Drae'mon to the side, expressionless as ever, Jeremy reflected.

His undead had the typical characteristics of the Razorfang and Ailurus.

"Could it be that that beast I used the ability on had been poisoned? Is that why my undead also has the abilities of another beast? Could it be DNA?"

DNA, a word unfamiliar to Jeremy, but very common to John, the other person whose memories he had absorbed.

"I have no idea, but we'll think about it when the time comes," Jeremy told himself. "Now we have another matter in front of us."

Looking at his Status, Jeremy had a headache. He had finally reached lv5, now all that was missing was the Rank up mission. This was the one that made the boy frown.

Name: Jeremy

Class: Necromancer (F)

Lv5/5 MAX

Exp: 9110/175> MAX/8935

HP: 1200

MP: 3000

Intelligence: 24 (+1)

Skills: Summon Undead, Bone Spear

Rank Up Quest: Kill at least 1x Rank D Beast lvl20 Middle Potential, get 1x rank D Core

A human with low potential had to get the Core of a Rank E Low Potential beast to be promoted. Easy.

A human with medium potential, on the other hand, had to get the Core of a beast at the peak of Rank E Medium Potential.

It was more complicated, but no big deal. The prices of these Cores were not very high and could be purchased after killing many beasts and obtaining their materials. Or you could team up with other awakened ones and get the Cores you needed.

For a high potential, on the other hand, things were more difficult. He needed to obtain the Core of a beast with High Potential.

The amount of Cores depended from class to class. Stronger classes needed more Cores.

Jeremy's issue was a different story.

His potential seemed to be greater than High Potential, and so the Rank Up quest changed to fit his potential.

He had to kill a Rank D. beast and not a common Low Potential beast, but one had at least Middle Potential.

"Things are definitely getting difficult ... however, it is not impossible. Given my strength, or rather Drae'mon's strength, I'm sure we can win if we meet such a beast," Jeremy tried to console himself.

"Then let's get out of here. I need to get some rest. Who knows how many hours have passed since I got here. I wonder what my friends are doing-will they have gotten a good class? I just hope they didn't get into trouble. They should have noticed my absence by now," a thread of concern filled the boy's face, and he immediately shook his head to focus on the matter at hand.

Seeking shelter. Or at least a small area to hide while he regained his strength. With the super undead beside him, he was not afraid of anything anyway

"Come on Drae'mon, let's find a place to stay."

He said after he finished collecting the core from the last Putorius.

However, he immediately noticed something strange.

"Hey man what are you looking at like that? Do you suddenly want to kill me?" joked Jeremy.

But the skeleton seemed to keep staring at the boy.

Then he noticed that he was staring at one place in particular, Jeremy's pants pocket, the one where he had answered Monster cores.
