Chapter 1 - The Awakening of Hope

Date: 17/08/2019

It was an ordinary day. Hiroshi and Nagi sat together in the school cafeteria at Goro High, laughing about something trivial. Their friendship had been formed over the years, bound by shared memories and the kind of bond that only childhood friends could have. But that peacefulness didn't last long.

Suddenly, the earth trembled. Suddenly cracked open, revealing a large, swirling portals of glowing energy. From these portals poured by monsters—beasts of varying shapes and sizes, each more terrifying than the last. They rampaged through the city, tearing apart everything in their path. Buildings crumbled, and people screamed as they tried to escape. The army mobilized quickly, but it was clear they were powerless against the onslaught.

The disaster had begun.

The military forces fought bravely but were quickly overrun. In a single day, 43% of humanity was wiped out. The world fell into chaos, with people desperate and hopeless. Governments collapsed, and civilization teetered on the brink of extinction.

Hiroshi's Tragedy

In the midst of the chaos, Hiroshi's life shattered. His girlfriend—his only reason for holding on—was caught by one of the monsters. He stood frozen, watching helplessly as she was torn apart before his eyes. A wave of frustration and anger surged through him. Why couldn't he protect her? Why was he so weak?

Fueled by rage, Hiroshi rushed toward the monster that had killed her. His fists were nothing but a fleeting dream of defense against the creature's deadly claws. In an instant, he was thrown across the street, crashing into a wall with bone-shattering force. He lay there, barely conscious, blood dripping from his wounds.

Nagi's Blessing

While Hiroshi struggled in the darkness, his best friend, Nagi, was undergoing something entirely different. As the world seemed to crumble around them, Nagi felt a presence in his mind—a divine force. He looked up, his vision blurring with the glow of the portals.

Before him stood a God—one of the seven beings who had descended from the heavens. The God spoke to him, words that were both comforting and unsettling, offering him divine power. Nagi was chosen. He was an Awakener.

He accepted the power, feeling it surge through him, transforming his body and mind. His strength multiplied, and with it came a sense of purpose. He was humanity's hope, one of the seven who had been granted unimaginable abilities.

Hiroshi Awakens

While Nagi stood in awe of his newfound power, Hiroshi's pain and frustration festered. His body was broken, but his mind was unyielding. As he lay there, struggling to breathe, he found himself speaking words he hadn't consciously intended to say.

"Why am I so unlucky? Why am I so weak? Why can't I protect the people I care about? Why can't I save them?"

The words echoed in his mind. His frustration turned into raw determination. His willpower ignited something deep within him—a force that surged in his veins, unbidden but undeniable.

Unexpectedly, Hiroshi's body began to stir. His eyes, once filled with despair, now glowed with the intensity of someone who had just found the power to change everything.

The monster that had nearly killed him loomed nearby, its blood-red eyes fixed on him. Hiroshi stood up, his body crackling with newfound energy. A strange, terrifying sensation filled him, but it was too late to turn back.

With a brutal, ferocious scream, Hiroshi charged at the monster. The creature tried to retaliate, but it was no match for his overwhelming fury. With one final, devastating punch, Hiroshi shattered the beast's skull, the red-class monster collapsing lifelessly to the ground.

He stood panting, covered in blood, staring at his hands in disbelief. He had done it. He had awakened. And with that awakening, Hiroshi had become one of the few people capable of standing against the monsters that threatened humanity.

The Ranks of the Awakeners

With the appearance of these divine gifts, the Awakeners now had a new purpose: to fight back against the monsters and restore hope to a shattered world. The seven gods had blessed only seven people, giving them unimaginable power, but Hiroshi's self-awakening marked something even more dangerous and unpredictable.

The Monster Classes

The world now had a new system to classify the monsters based on their strength, from the weakest to the strongest:

• Lower (White)

• Low (Yellow)

• Mid (Light Green)

• Mid-High (Dark Green)

• High (Brown)

• Very High (Purple)

• Low Legendary (Red)

• Legendary (Black)

The Gap Between Very High and Low Legendary:

• Very High Class (Purple) monsters are 10 times weaker than Low Legendary (Red) monsters. This means that the Low Legendary monsters are significantly stronger, posing a far greater challenge to any human or Awakener.

• Low Legendary (Red): These monsters are formidable. The gap between Low Legendary and Legendary (Black) monsters is even more daunting, with Legendary monsters being 50 times stronger than Low Legendary.

• Legendary Class (Black): These are the most powerful and nearly impossible to defeat. Even with great power, they can only be confronted by the combined force of 7 Divine Saints and 4 L-Rankers.

The Awakener Ranking System

Alongside the monsters came a new ranking system for the Awakeners:

• E Rank

• D Rank

• C Rank

• B Rank

• A Rank

• S Rank

• SS Rank

• SSS Rank

• SSS+ Rank

• L Rank

• Saint Rank

As Hiroshi and Nagi faced this new reality, they would have to learn not only to fight the monsters but to grow within this new system—becoming stronger, more capable, and perhaps, one day, the leaders who would take humanity's last stand against the coming darkness.
