My parents were magic knights for several years. No matter how hard they tried, they could never rise to the next rank, Magic Captain. It also didn't help since they had a kid as well.
When I was seven, my parents told me that I'd be spending a few days with my uncle Rue. They were going off to find a way to level up.
"I want to go with you." I begged.
"No, little one." my mother patted me on the head, placing a kiss on my temple. "Where you father and I are going is too dangerous for you. We won't be able to protect you while we're on our journey."
"But who's going to protect you?" i rebuttaled. I thought that was the smartest thing ever. As of now, as i write the diary, a shiver runs up my spine.
My mother winced.
"Lyle," my father emerged from my uncle Rue's room. He was dressed in heavy robes. Hanging from a strap on his shoulder was a spellbook. Behind him, my uncle shuffled in. Rue looked nothing like our family, but he was always nice to me, so I never cared. "Lyle, you need to stay with your Uncle. He will keep you safe and out of trouble-" that last line was intended for Rue, "Until we get back." With that, he took my mothers hands and left without so much as a goodbye. That was the last time I spoke to either of them. As humans at least.
