At the Marriage Registry
Sabrina held the marriage certificate with excitement. She was already married, and would see how her father would force her to marry Jason, with the marriage certificate she held.
Opening it, she viewed Lexis' profile with his name written below,
'Lexis Noah Woodsman'
Why does it seem familiar? She creased her brows as she tried to recall hearing such name, but gave up.
"Whatever." She faced Lexis, her new husband, who was also checking out his certificate. Who would have believed that an anti-woman like him would get married?
"Just stay at my house and don't wander around, okay?" She opened her purse and brought out a twenty dollars note with a paper, " Here, take this. The money is for you, and the paper has my address on it."
Lexis didn't know what to say as he took the money from her, " What can these bucks do for me?" He queried with a hidden smile.
Sabrina was a bit bruised by his question.
"You should be grateful you have someone like me that offers you free rent and money. Given your situation now, you're supposed to feel thankful, or do you wish to go back to stealing and being chased around in the streets?."
Lexis chuckled. This damned woman was really full of herself.
Sabrina's phone started ringing, and that was when it occured to her that she still had to attend the wedding.
"Okay, bye for now. I have something important to do." She raced away and quickly flagged down a taxi without giving Lexis a chance to object.
Seeing how anxious she was, the flash of her discussion with her dad came to his mind.
He stopped a taxi too and got in. He needed to know who she truly is.
"Follow the car infront of you. The white one." He instructed to the driver.
————-
Getting down from the car, Lexos paid the driver and glanced around the glamorous building decorated beautifully.
Just like a wedding ceremony.
While still observing his surroundings, he heard a beep from his phone.
It was his assistant and buddy, George.
He picked the call.
"Lexis, I'm really sorry. We didn't know that the news of your arrival would be leaked to them so soon. Hell, I didn't even know that that bastard would attack you. I've been trying your line but it has been unreachable until now." George said worriedly.
Lexis placed his hand inside his pocket, "Don't worry about me. Just be keeping an eye on Maris."
"Okay, where are you now? Are you hurt? Should I send someone to pick you?"
He smiled as he thought of Sabrina, "No, I'm alright. I'm married now, so I'd like to spend sometime with my wife."
The line went silent. "Married? When did you get married?." George was dumbfounded. When did his misogynist—a real hater of women get married?
"Today," Lexis kicked a stone beside him, "and she's really interesting."
"Are you for real?."
"Yes."
He didn't argue anymore, knowing that his boss might be giving some humourless humours. Who on earth would believe Lexis got married a day of just arriving back to Spain?
"Okay then. Yeah, also, do you know the CEO of the Kennedy's company?."
That didn't ring a bell to Lexis, "No."
"He's getting married today and has sent the invitation more that thrice. What should I do?."
"Just send him some gifts."
"Okay." Lexis ended the call.
He saw the entrance door people were walking to and made to head there only to be detained by two guards.
He threw the both of them steely look, "Get lost."
The two men were dumbfounded by his coldness.
"We can't let you in, sir, without your invitation card."
"Does Lexis Woodsman need an invitation card to a party he chooses to attend?." He asked them, his voice void of emotion.
They both glanced at eachother before looking at him from head to toes, not ignoring the tattered clothes he was wearing.
"You're saying you're Lexis Woodsman?," one of them asked as he stared down at him, "who are you trying to—."
At the sight of a black card, he was silenced.
The guards blinked at Lexus, surprised.
People who owns the black cards were peopl of the elite class, individuals of respectable standards and lifestyle, and Lexis Woodsman was no exception.
They quickly made way for him, "So sorry, Mr Woodsman, please forgive us."
Their apologies were useless as Lexis was far gone away from them.
The first guard glanced at his colleague, "I thought Mr Woodsman isn't in Spain currently?."
The colleague stared at him in realisation, "Yes! That's true!."
"Then who could that man be?."
"I don't know," the colleague sighed, "But he's a black card holder, that means he's not someone we should mess with"
The first guard nodded his head in agreement, and felt a shiver pass through him recalling the icy look Lexis just gave them.
The moment Sabrina pushed the hall doors opened, everyone fixated their gaze on her. A man even shouted, "The bride is finally here!."
Jason's tensed face visibly relaxed, and there was a hint of victory and mockery in his eyes. He knew Sabrina would come.
Sabrina wasn't a bit bothered about the looks people threw at her as she made her way to where all the Wonders family were seated.
She could even hear the murmurings among themselves about her casual gown instead of her wedding dress.
She knew.
She knew they thought of her as nothing but a spoilt arrogant princess of the Wonders family.
They could all go to hell, for all she cared.
She walked over towards the Wonders table.
Her dad— Zachary Wonders was dressed in black tuxedo, while her stepmom, Fiona Wonders was dressed in a long off-shoulder wine red gown. Her makeup was tempting yet heavy, just like usual.
Gina, her dearest stepsister wore a black mini skirt with black long sleeved top.
She stood with dignity, like one who was elegant and graceful, which was so different about her yesterday.
One could think she had morals, like she wasn't the one Jason bent over on the desk, screwing like two animals on heat.
The Wonders family was a joke. A laughable joke. Pretending to be all classy, elegant and pure on the surface. But nasty with greed inside.
Especially her dad.
