Meanwhile…
Lexis breathed out the moment Sabrina left the room. He opened his eyes and peered around the room before closing them back.
Last night, his elder brother Maris had sent his people over to attack him the moment the news of him being back to Spain got to them.
He didn't need anyone to tell him that those attackers were sent by his brother.
Luckily for him, he was saved by the lousy woman or else, his body could have been in God knows where.
Standing up, he checked his clothes and sighed in relief to see that they were still intact, even his phone was still with him.
He ambled to the door and opening it as quiry as he could, he made his way to what seemed like the sitting room, but no one was there. Or had the lousy woman left him alone in her house? How dumb was she? To trust a complete stranger in her house?
He was about to to head to the exit door when he heard a feminine voice from the kitchen.
"Dad, do you know what that Scoundrel did?." Sabrina's face was full of displeasure at her father's nonchalant attitude. He was bent on making her to marry him.
"I don't care about what he did,Sabrina Wonders, you must marry him! Do you know the consequences of ending the marriage alliance?."
Zachary snapped over the phone.
"I have made up my mind, I'm not going to marry him."
"Are u listening to yourself? Are you aware of what we are going to loose if you end the marriage?."
Sabrina took a gulp of water, "It's what you, Gina and Fiona will miss, not me. I'm not like you that can do anything for interest. I won't marry Jason and that's final."
Zachary's face turned a few shades darker at her words.
"You brat! If I don't see you today at the wedding venue, I'll send my people to kidnap you and it will be then you'll see if you have a choice or not to marry Jason." With that, the line went dead.
Sabrina stared at the blank phone with balled fists.
Her father could go to hell. His greed and love for money were one of the reasons why she despised him.
But, what if he really sends his people to catch her? She knew Zachary Wonders. He would, and could do such a thing.
It wasn't just a threat, her dad would actually do that.
She drank up the remaining water and turned when she saw someone leaning against the frame of the door.
"Aargh!." She screamed, moving backward until her back hit the counter, causing some of the utensils to fall and make clattering sounds.
Lexis fixated his gaze at the frightened woman with a bland expression.
Did he look that fearful?
"You…you…" Sabrina looked at him. The neutral man infront of her.
He has a pair of onyx eyes that seemed calm and calculative.
He was tall with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, lean hips and long legs. He had thin lipped mouth and a strong jawline, as well as an aqcuoline nose, tanned, olive skinned body and thick ebony shoulder-length hair.
Indeed, the man she saved last night was a Greek god.
Lexis withdrew his gaze from her as he dropped a black card on the breakfast bar.
"Thank you for saving me. The pin for the card is triple zero and one. I believe we don't owe eachother anymore." He said calmly.
Sabrina was allured by his deep, yet mellowed voice.
Just when he was about to take his leave, Sabrina heard a beep from her phone.
She opened it and saw it was a threat from her dad which read;
"If you're trying to pull any antics, or try to elope, don't blame me for being barbaric."
She tightened her fists. Her selfish dad would do anything to make sure she marries Jason.
And that would be over her dead body.
She subconsciously stared at the retracting figure of the stranger, and an Indra popped into her head.
"Wait!." She yelled, racing out of the kitchen.
Lexus halted and faced her.
Sabrina stood infront of him, "You want to repay me, right?."
Before he could speak, she beat him to it, "but I know you won't be able to, because you're poor. I'm definitely not ready for the rob Peter to pay Paul you'll do, so I'm just going to ask for a tiny favour."
Lexis scanned the black-haired woman before him with bewildered look. She said he was stealing?
"Me? Steal?"
Sabrina rolled her eyes at his pretense, "Mr man, stop pretending. We both know you were being chased maybe because of stealing. You might have luck this time, being saved by me, but there might not be a next time." She warned, her face so serious Lexis burst into laugh.
He sat on a nearby sofa, with tears in his eyes. This woman didn't know him, or she would t have said such.
How could a wealthy man like him, Lexis Woodsman, steal?
He knew from the start that the woman was oblivious to his identity, or she would have taken advantage of him last night and force him to take the responsibilities, like how some shameless women would do.
Sabrina was displeased by his laugh, "What's funny?"
"Nothing." Lexis said, "So, how do you want me to reply you then?"
Her face brightened at his question, "About that…" she made her way slowly towards him, her green eyes twinkling with mischief and craftiness like that of a fox.
She placed her hands by the sides of the armrest, trapping Lexis completely.
He arched his brows.
"Marry me."
"What?" It seemed he misheard her the first time. He searched her face to see if there was any form of play or joke, but she looked dead serious.
"Marry me." She said once more, her face unrelenting.
Lexis' lips curled into a smile, "Okay then."
Afterall, she was a pretty, interesting little woman.
