Having a gist of his goal made things easier for Cillian, now he just need to prepare for what's to come, first thing's first, according to the forums, the game will drop in two hours time in real life which is around 2 days in game, quite short but enough for him to have sufficient preparation.
Looking around, he deduced that since Ceres is still only starting he must be in a random woods by a nearby town, because that's how players start, escaping the forest would be the players initial goal after that they would follow the road to a nearby village and along the way they would get familiarized on how the game works.
Of course, Cillian already know how the game works, but he still needs to get to a village to prepare before the players arrived. Which bring us to this current dilemma.
The forest was somehow more big than he'd ever imagined and more than he'd like to admit, he got lost a couple of time, he did found the exit but...
The sun is setting..
Before Cillian was the long sought dirt road, but his situation is far from ideal. In the course of human history, night has been regarded as dangerous, with most malevolent existence appearing at night, and this world is no different.
Ah fuck it.
Cillian started walking, his original plan of waiting for a horse drawn carriage to pass and hitch a ride was long abandoned, after all only carriage accompanied by hunters would dare travel at night, it was mandated by the 11 nations and 7 church and there's a good reason for it.
Corrupted? Tainted? Abomination? Whatever one calls it, beings of malice are the most active under the watchful eye of the moon, and Cillian sincerely hopes that he does not encounter one such being.
Before long, Cillian was able to catch a glimpse of a big village in the horizon. It was still only about 7pm so it was still lively, he was overjoyed and started to hasten his walking speed, the night was only getting deeper.
After briskly walking for a couple dozen minutes, he finally arrived at the town at around 8pm, the dirt road changed into paved streets and the gas lamps can be seen lighting up the streets. Cillian can see people walking around, he can see some stores closing up while the pubs light up.
Around the corner near the town square he can see the hunter's guild and went in.
This world has 3 main factions, the orthodox which is the 7 major church, unorthodox with 3 big organization, and demonic which are basically hidden cults, heretics, terrorists that worships malevolent entities.
The Hunter's Guild that Cillian just entered is one such organization under the unorthodox faction.
Inside he was greeted with a rustic atmosphere, lively hunters heartily drinking, on the wall was a big board with various jobs posted, beside it was a big mark with a label 'Eisenmark' on it, and on the main desk a receptionist stood.
So I spawned in Eisenmark.. not bad.
At the back of his mind, Cillian recalled some ruins and hidden pieces.
As Cillian approached, the receptionist briefly sized him up before smiling and asking,
"Welcome to the Hunter's Guild, Lennitz branch. How can I assist you tonight?"
Lennitz? Isn't that..?
Hearing the town name, he recalled a lot of crucial information one of them was a particular ruins near Lennitz, specifically in the forest where players spawn.
"I'd like to register as a hunter," Cillian replied casually.
At his response, the receptionist reached beneath the desk and returned with a quill pen dipped in ink, along with a sheet of paper filled with questions.
"Alright, just fill this out."
Though Cillian didn't actually need to join the Hunter's Guild, he wanted a valid form of identification. That way, if anyone questioned him in unusual places, he could simply say he was a hunter.
Hunters are what other games call adventurers or mercenaries, although the Hunter's main job is to kill abominations unlike adventurers who is like an all rounder, its really not that different.
Once he finished filling out the form, he handed it back to the receptionist.
"I'm done."
She took the paper, passed it to a coworker, and then returned with something for Cillian, a pin featuring a sword with a cross behind it and a flame burning fiercely covering the two.
"Here you go, Sir Cillian Watson. This emblem proves your membership in the Hunter's Guild."
"Thank you."
Fetching the pin, Cillian smiled and headed off, his next step is to find a pharmacy and sell off the rare herbs he had gathered when he was l-wandering, yes yes wandering around the woods.
When the player comes, most of them would register with the hunters guild too..
It's not a bad choice, unlike the orthodox churches the Hunter's Guild does not restrict its members at all, and if Cillian knows one thing about the players its that players love their freedom.
Hunter's Guild currently in possession of 3 authorities which are combat, recovery and purification, authorities that are very useful for players.
In his past life he also joined the hunters guild initially, but enough about that. After walking around for a bit he had finally stumbled upon a Pharmacy, he quickly sold the herbs and went back into the town square.
20 zen coins and 13 zen cents, am I fucked?
With a slice of stale bread on one hand and coins on the other he counted his bounty for today.
Unlike players who can just log out whenever, Cillian actually have to live in this world so he has to consider multitude of things like food, housing, clothes, living expenses basically. A night at a crappy in would cost two coins at the very least.
A zen note is equivalent to a ten zen coins and a zen coin is equivalent to a ten zen cents, so to put it simply, Cillian is broke as fuck.
In this world, all countries uses the same currency which is zen.
After the collapse of Zentharis Imperium that spanned the whole continent in the fourth epoch or age of civilizations, the empire was split into three warring states and the fifth epoch started, also known as age of darkness it was a tumultuous era and the technology even regressed significantly.
Because of it, the three warring states just opted to continue using zen instead of introducing their own currency.
Heh.
Cillian chuckled inwardly, he's probably one of the few people who knew this world's history deeply, its the only solace he have amidst his situation.
Do I have to work at the factories until the players arrive?
Pushing the dreadful thoughts away, Cillian has already long finished his dinner so he stood up and went off to find an inn.
