"19.. 20.. 21!"
At the Inn, Cillian is happily counting his spoils.
Of course he had already counted it before, he was just recounting for the sake of it.
With this much money he can rent a crappy apartment with communal bath!
Though, I probably won't.
He could have gotten much more if he also took the pawnbroker's real jewelries and had him open his safe but he doesn't want to cripple the man.
If he continued to push, the pawnbroker might have lost it, and that wouldn't be a good thing. In the first place he is not a believer of the church of the herald nor a member of the merchant's association.
Cillian doesn't want this small incident to grow big as he would undoubtedly be affected. He also doesn't plan on coming back to that pawnbroker at all, he already got what he needed.
Cillian glanced at his bed, there lays an amethyst brooch, it's one of the fake gems that the broker put on the tray. While it may not be a real gem, it's in no way fake or less in value.
It's like casting a pearl before the swine!
This thing is a valuable artifact! In the myth of creation, the primordials fought until the tangible and intangible intertwined and ultimately exploded! In that explosion everything was ripped to pieces and the primordials perished.
The amethyst brooch in front of him was one such thing, a piece of the universe ripped from its own, developing in parallel to the world. An independent space separate from existence. A domain.
"I truly got lucky, to think I'd transmigrate to a place with easy to get artifacts."
This is an item that's useful regardless of what level, and for him to get an item this valuable this early.. He vowed to pray to the lady luck or goddess of luck if they exist.
A domain has multiple functions, one of it is a space separate from existence.
After the third epoch which is the age of cataclysm, the gods no longer walked the earth. Returning to their respective kingdoms, their mere existence on the physical world produces bizarre effects, as their authorities influence and bend the natural rules.
Yes, the 'kingdoms' mentioned is their domain, and Cillian right now hold such thing. Of course the domain is not in the amethyst brooch, it's simply the gateway into it, and he having ownership to the entrance means he at least partially owns it now.
However it is a godless domain so unless he reach high level of divinity, he wont be able to utilize the domain effectively. However he can still go and leave the domain as he pleases, he can also invite individuals in it, which is what he exactly needs for his plan.
In the future, the magicrafters of the brown magic tower would develop something similar, a pocket dimension, not nearly as good as a genuine domain but cheap enough for players to buy.
Holding the amethyst brooch, Cillian tried to enter the domain to do final touches, his vision went dark, and he felt as if he was getting pulled somewhere, before long Cillian found himself staring at the void.
This was how most domains look, there are domains with certain uniqueness in them but if a normal domain is already very rare, one can just imagine how rare a unique domain is.
Before him was countless bright illusory stars, bright colored dust swirled as if enveloping his whole domain, it reminded him of the time when he visited the nasa website and looked at the nebulas in their gallery, its the exact same scene!
Wait.. I thought they used a special camera for those photos?
In any case, Cillian was in complete awe, he cant reach the stars nor interact with anything at all in his domain but he can manifest things to exist, well technically it doesn't really exist, its only for the domain and he cant bring it out.
Nevertheless he willed an ornate round table before him, on his back was a regal high back chair while filling the other seats was regular chairs, since he only partially own this domain, he can't do anything great like a grand palace however, this much is enough, his meeting area is finished.
All his preparations are done, all that's left if to invite willing participants, he has to choose the players carefully, he can monopolize known players that would achieve great things in the future but chances are those players might reveal things about him after all top players have a lot of eyes in them, in that regards, he's better of grooming his own powerhouse.
That's right, there's still the unofficial rankings
Cillian just had to make sure to not invite a streamer on his faction as it would ruin everything.
With everything taken care of Cillian opened the map that he bought on the way to the Inn.
Right now he is currently at Lennitz, situated near the port city of Aurich which is two days travel away, at the north west a weeks worth of travel away is the capital which is Danzig.
Zooming out the map, further north would be the vast Empire of Novgorod, on the west of Eisenmark is Toulouse republic, which is currently recovering from a revolution and stealthily expanding their army.
In the future version, Toulouse would be waging revolutionary wars across Ceres..
Making a mental note of this event Cillian continued, on the east is, Lothar a remnant of Lotharingia from the warring era after the collapse of zentharis.
At version 1.0 players would still be confined within the nation they start in, of course they can attempt to travel but chances are they would just die in between the nations.
Ceres is vast so except a few nations, there are swats of unclaimed land in between the borders, those places are death zones because they're unregulated, countless abominations roam these death zones on daily basis.
It's also why even at the advent of guns and machinery, the mercenary or hunter culture still exist, there are still countless beings to hunt, wealthy merchant or families like to hire this hunters to explore ruins and kill the corrupted for a chance to get mystical items.
Remembering some memories, Cillian looked up.
I have a long way ahead of me..
