Chapter 6 - Ambush

Since there was no visible moon in this spiritual realm, located in Vyus's Nexus, the skies have become entirely dark.

Thankfully, he was able to locate a suitable location for his refuge. Vyus was a survival expert. However, he wasn't sure about fighting.

He would typically eat vegetables and other such foods, but he wasn't entirely certain that anything edible existed in this world.

The best thing he could do was use the rhinos he killed and eat their meat to gain energy.

'Dang, so all of this ends when I kill that stupid Apex Predator...?'

Vyus had no idea what it looked like. Completing the task that the entity sent him was the least of his concerns because he had been so preoccupied with surviving.

'What even are the objectives of that entity,' He continued to think.

He tried to delve further into his thoughts. After all, when Vyus was transported to this realm, whilst maintaining his sanity. He even believed it to be the World of the Above.

'He talked about Triune and all of that crap. Maybe he wants me to awaken this Triune that I might possess...'

He began to rise from his sitting position, whilst scratching his head.

"Man...all of this thinking is pissing me off! I guess I'll just do what that entity wants me to do, and be on my way."

The silence descended as Vyus surveyed his surroundings. His gaze was fixed on the various dark areas. It was silent.

"Wha— what is going..."

Then, a sudden eruption that was audible from miles away occurred, and the nearby trees were getting destroyed.

Something was approaching was coming toward Vyus. The silhoutte of this potential beast revealed a humanoid creature that resembled an ape, with black fur.

It could be seen from a distance, even at night, and its piercing glowing green eyes warned of danger.

"I will never be able to leave this spiritual world if I can't kill this creature."

Using his dagger, which he had sharpened while hunting, Vyus charged at the beast, with an intent to kill.

Their collision had an ear-splitting effect, but the beast's hard skin proved to be problematic.

Vyus attempted to come up with a new plan due to his dagger only being able to cut the beast's fur.

However, the beast introduced something else: his strength. While Vyus was still trying to stab him with his dagger, it slammed its fist to the ground with additional force.

Vyus barely escapes the beast's fist with difficulty. But in the process, his dagger broke.

'This guy...his attributes do not link with mine.'

In terms of fighting techniques, the beast was very different from Vyus; his strength, claws, and unpredictable nature would be a wonderful addition to his repertoire.

Vyus, on the other hand, depends on quickness, dexterity, and his homemade dagger—well, it was useless after their original clash.

'His eyes, they are not the same as mine,' Vyus thought, as he approached the beast, with a sudden boost of confidence.

'I can see in the dark. I...am a Deep One.'

Vyus's speed caused the beast to become confused as he ran through the perimeter of their battle. Then, from behind the creature, a faint cracking sound came.

It was Vyus, who stumbled up behind and struck the beast in the jaw, knocking him to his knees.

Vyus struck the beast repeatedly, repeating this process of using his speed. But, what he most feared would occur — the beast began to adapt.

He demolished everything within the radius via his strength, making it impossible for Vyus to conceal himself.

The beast subsequently recognized Vyus's fighting style and used his ability to predict to seize him, grabbing Vyus's throat.

He flung Vyus to the ground and sought to stomp him, but Vyus's lightning-fast reactions allowed him to barely avoid the collision, yet the impact sent him flying over a few meters.

Blood was visible on Vyus's mouth when he finally composed himself, but he wiped it away and kept his gaze fixed on the beast.

"Is that all you got?"

The creature then lunged at him with all of its might, trying to devour Vyus, however, he surged over the beast's head.

Vyus repeatedly used his fist to strike the beast's back, sending it to the ground. He sprinted underneath to grab the beast's hand.

In desperation, and a matter of seconds, he tore off the beast's claw, causing it to roar in agony.

The adrenaline in the beast surged, and in desperation, he tried to finish off Vyus.

But, Vyus simply rushed at the creature, holding out the claw that he tore off it.

With the tip of the claw, he pierced the stomach of the beast, but this was insufficient to appease him.

So, he then stabbed the beast's neck, shoulders, chest, and other parts of its upper body.

"Die, you piece of rotten shit."

Vyus rained a torrent of blows on the beast's body in an attempt to finally and permanently slay it.

The beast was covered in blood. There was so much blood that Vyus's vision was only red at first, but within seconds it was blurry.

However, his eyes widened as Vyus's smile enlarged, as his face could be compared to a literal demon.

Each stab, each pierce, made him more and more excited to continue killing. It was like he was getting addicted to killing.

However, his smile slowly fades, as, when covered in blood, he suffocates from weariness.

His eyes became itchy, as they began to water from his exhaustion.

In a matter of moments, his control of his awareness was absent, as he blacked out.

Vyus was desperately attempting to finalise his thoughts on the situation, but, he unfortunately passed out before he could even comprehend what had happened.
