Chapter 8 - Unnamed

Ryan

There's no way this is happening, she can't be my wife, she's not the wife I married, there must be mistakes somewhere. The Emily I married had no one, she was an orphan, barely got an apartment to rest her head at night.

There's no way she's an heiress, an heiress to the Empire company, the most renowned business company, not only in New York but internationally. This has to be a mistake, and I need to find out what is really going on.

Even if she was adopted into the family, there's no way there would make her the heiress without knowing much about her.

There's Ethan, the rightful heir to the company. Though he doesn't seem interested in inheriting the company. But bringing an outsider to overtake the company, should want to make him take over, why is he not doing anything about it.

Does this mean they are not dating? Did she seduce him? No way, even if she did, she's not supposed to be the heir to the company.

Fernandez would never allow that, knowing how strict he can be. He doesn't play with business, and has a policy of his.

They were holding hands like couples, and the sight of it made me jealous, stirring an urge to tear his hands from hers. I am not supposed to feel this way, I have no right to, when she is no longer my wife, but I can't help it.

"Are you okay?" I heard, snapping back to reality. "You look unsettled and some worth Agitate." Zara said, her expression perplexed.

I'm certain she is also in shock, discovering that Emily is an heiress. This could all be a mistake, there's a possibility she's not the one.

If she's not, does that mean she has a twin heiress? If that's the case, then she has Fernandez blood. They must have lost her during the wife's child birth. But how? I can't wrap my head around this, something isn't right.

"Yes! I am fine, there's nothing to worry about. Let's meet and greet some of my business partners." Responded, patting her hands, with a smile on my face.

There's no way I will let her know I am bothered. I know she can feel it, but definitely won't ask questions.

As we walked around, greeted a few clients who were present, my gaze drifted to the left. That's when I saw Wmily laugh at something a man whispered into her ear. That sight made my stomach twist. She seemed so happy and relaxed, talking to a stranger.

I watch as she whisper something into his ear, making him nod. She it turned on her heels and made her way, in the direction of the rest room.

This was my chance to find out what was going on. I needed to know if she had lied to me for the past four years, or she had a twin sister.

"I will be right back, just give me a few minutes." I said, about to leave, when Zara grabbed my arm, making me halt.

"Where are you going?"

"I need to make a few calls. I will be back." Without waiting for her response, I turned and headed to the direction Emily had gone.

As I hurried to catch up with her before she disappeared, someone bumped into me and rushed off without apologizing.

I halted and spun around, scanning the area for the figure. After checking both sides, and finding no one, I sighed and turned to continue, but something on the floor caught my attention, it looked like an handkerchief.

I stared at it for a few seconds, glancing around. Did the figure drop it? I couldn't even suspect anyone, as they were all engrossed in conversations, eating or drinking.

Squatting down, I picked it up, and carefully unfolded it. My eyes widened in shock. In one swift motion, I closed it and quickly looked around to see if anyone had noticed me.

Everyone seemed engrossed on what they were doing. I opened the handkerchief back and read through it.

'Stay away from her, if you don't want her dead. The next time you will be trying to approach her, you cause her more danger. I am always watching you.' I read, and couldn't believe someone dropped this on purpose.

The figure, who had hit me , did it on purpose. This wasn't a mistake. But why? Who does he think he is to threaten me? I should stay away from her? This is insane. I can't believe even after divorce, I still get threat messages…

Four years back when I married Emily, i recieved a parcel at the office from an unknown person with a hidden contact address. The delivery man said he had no idea of who the sender is. He was asked to deliver it to my address.

Thinking it might be a suprise from someone I knew, I proceeded to open it, only to find a picture of Emily in a bikini , sitting by a pool, with a tattoo on her breast. The bikini was so revealing, yiu could almost see everything.

It had a small note stating I made a mistake marrying her. I didn't think much about it, and buried it. I had nothing to worry about, because I never loved her from the start. We had our contract for her to donate blood, and I pay her monthly.

On the night of our two year anniversary, I also received a parcel demanding I divorce her if I would rather not be destroyed. And today, I am still getting messages telling me to stay away from her.

Whoever is behind this, should know I married her for my own selfish reasons, not out of love. If I truly loved her, I doubt it will be this quiet. They would have been sending a barrage of threatening messages, which would have caused a major ruckus by now.

I walked back to where I left Zara and found her in a deep conversation with a woman I recognized and assumed to be her friend.

"Hey! I am back." I said, drawing their attention.

"Hey! I was about to call you. Meet my friend from high school. I didn't realize she was here until I saw her."

"Hello! It's a pleasure to meet you. You are the daughter of Mr. Wilfred, your father is my business partner." I greeted. I haven't met her before, but I have seen her frame a couple of times in Wilfred's office.

"Oh my goodness! How did you know?" She exclaimed, her excitement piquing my curiosity about what so exhilarating.

"Mr Ryan!" We heard a voice call out, and turning around, we saw her father approaching.

"Good day Mr. Wilfred." I said extending my hands to shake his. He quickly reciprocated, smiling from ear to ear.

"You know my daughter?"

"Not really. My sister is familiar with her, I just got to meet her for the first time."

"But you did recognize her, thanks to her picture framed in my office." Wilfred responded. His company is among the fastest growing business in New York, and he has a lot of connections internationally.

"Ah, now I see how he knew me. It's a pleasure to meet you in person." She said.

"My pleasure." I responded. We got all engrossed in a conversation, but my mind was elsewhere.

I needed to see Emily, there was so many questions I needed to ask her. I had to find out if she was the one or she had a twin sister.

Whoever sent that message would eventually have to reveal themselves because I won't step back from her. I deserve to know the truth. I was never hard on her throughout our four years of marriage.
