Chapter 15 - How was your trip?

JoeGad Parker was the only child of the wealthy and influential Parker family. As the sole heir to the Parker's conglomerate, a vast business empire with interests in real estate, finance, and technology, JoeGad's future was already mapped out for him.

Despite his privileged upbringing, JoeGad was a down-to-earth and unassuming 10-year-old. He had been raised by his parents, Reginald and Victoria Parker, to be humble and grounded, despite their immense wealth.

The Parkers were known for their philanthropic efforts, and JoeGad had been taught from a young age the importance of giving back to the community. He was often involved in charity events and volunteer work, and his parents encouraged him to use his privilege to make a positive impact on the world.

Despite his busy schedule and the weight of his family's legacy, JoeGad was a happy and well-adjusted kid. He loved playing video games, riding his bike, and hanging out with his friends, including Alyssa.

JoeGad's friendship with Alyssa was particularly special, as she was one of the few people who didn't treat him like a privileged rich kid. Alyssa saw JoeGad for who he truly was - a kind, funny, and caring friend - and JoeGad appreciated her honesty and authenticity.

As JoeGad waited for Alyssa's call, he couldn't help but feel excited to hear about her trip. He had missed her while she was away, and he was eager to catch up and hear all about her adventures.

As JoeGad sat in his spacious bedroom, surrounded by posters of his favorite video games and sports teams, he pulled out his phone and checked the time. He had been waiting for what felt like forever for Alyssa to call him.

Just as he was starting to get impatient, his phone rang. JoeGad's face lit up with a smile as he saw Alyssa's name on the screen.

"Hey, Alyssa!" JoeGad exclaimed, answering the call. "How was your trip? I've missed you so much!"

Alyssa laughed on the other end of the line. "Hey, JoeGad! My trip was amazing. I'll tell you all about it when we hang out soon."

JoeGad's eyes widened with excitement. "Yeah! We have to hang out soon. I want to hear all about your adventures."

As they chatted on the phone, JoeGad couldn't help but feel grateful for his friendship with Alyssa. She was one of the few people who truly understood him, and he valued their friendship above everything else.

After catching up with Alyssa, JoeGad hung up the phone and let out a contented sigh. He couldn't wait to see Alyssa again and hear more about her trip.

As the conversation between Alyssa and JoeGad came to a close, Alyssa's mother, Carolyn, who had been listening in on their conversation, chimed in. She was sitting on the couch in their living room, surrounded by the familiar comforts of home.

"Alyssa, sweetie, you know that Alex lives abroad, right?" Carolyn asked, gently reminding Alyssa of the distance between them. Alyssa nodded, her expression thoughtful as she sat on the floor, playing with her phone.

"Yeah, Mom, I know," Alyssa replied, her brow furrowed in concentration. "But I was thinking maybe we could video call him or something?" She looked up at her mother, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

JoeGad's face lit up with excitement as he sat next to Alyssa on the floor. "Yeah! That's a great idea, Alyssa!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "We can use my tablet to video call him!" He pulled out his tablet from his backpack and began to fiddle with it.

Carolyn smiled, pleased with the kids' resourcefulness. "That's a wonderful idea, kids," she said, nodding her head in approval. "We can definitely arrange a video call with Alex soon."

As they wrapped up their conversation, Alyssa and JoeGad were both excited at the prospect of catching up with Alex, even if it was just over a video call. They began to make plans for the video call, discussing the best time and day to reach Alex.

"I'll send Alex's mom an email to arrange a time for the video call," Carolyn said, pulling out her phone to send a quick email.

Alyssa nodded, already imagining the fun they would have on the video call. "I'll make sure to tell Alex all about our plans for the summer," she said, grinning at JoeGad.

JoeGad smiled back, his eyes shining with excitement. "And I'll show him my new video game," he added, holding up his tablet.

As they continued to chat and make plans, Carolyn smiled, feeling happy to see her daughter and her friend JoeGad so excited about staying in touch with Alex. She knew that even though they were far apart, technology could help bridge the distance and keep their friendship strong.

Over the next few days, Carolyn and Alyssa worked out the details of the video call with Alex's mom. They finally settled on a time that worked for everyone, and Alyssa and JoeGad spent hours preparing for the call, making lists of things to talk about and share with Alex.

As the day of the video call arrived, Alyssa and JoeGad sat nervously in front of JoeGad's tablet, waiting for Alex to appear on screen. But just as they were about to connect, Carolyn's phone rang.

She answered it, listening for a moment before responding. "Okay, no problem. I understand."

Alyssa and JoeGad exchanged curious glances. "What's going on, Mom?" Alyssa asked.

Carolyn hesitated before responding. "That was Alex's mom. I'm afraid she's declining our video call invitation."

Alyssa's face fell, and JoeGad looked disappointed. "Why?" Alyssa asked, feeling a pang of disappointment.

Carolyn explained, "Alex's mom said that they're going through a bit of a busy time right now, and they won't be able to make the video call work."

Alyssa nodded understandingly, trying not to feel too disappointed. "It's okay, Mom. We can try again another time."

JoeGad nodded in agreement. "Yeah, no big deal. We can just play video games instead."

Carolyn smiled, pleased with the kids' understanding attitudes. "That sounds like a great idea, kids. Why don't you go ahead and play some video games while I make some lunch?"

Alyssa and JoeGad eagerly agreed, quickly setting up the video game console and settling in for a fun afternoon of gaming.

As they played, Alyssa couldn't help but feel a little bit disappointed that the video call with Alex hadn't worked out. But she knew that she would see Alex again soon, and that their friendship was strong enough to withstand a little distance.

Besides, she had JoeGad to hang out with, and that was always a blast.
