Chapter 14 - We are back

As the plane began its descent into New York City's JFK Airport, Alyssa felt a mix of excitement and fatigue. She had enjoyed the flight, but was also ready to be back on solid ground.

Her mother smiled, noticing her stirring. "We're almost there, sweetie. Just a few more minutes."

Alyssa nodded, stretching her arms over her head. She looked out the window, watching as the plane touched down on the runway and taxied to the gate.

As they collected their luggage and made their way through customs, Alyssa's mother pulled out her phone to check their messages. Alyssa's eyes widened as she saw her mother's expression change.

"What's wrong, Mom?" she asked, feeling a sense of concern.

Her mother hesitated before responding. "It's JoeGad. He's been trying to reach us, and he's a bit upset that we didn't tell him about our trip."

Alyssa giggled. "Oh, Mom, JoeGad can be so dramatic sometimes!"

Her mother chuckled. "I know, sweetie. But we should probably give him a call and let him know we're safe."

Alyssa nodded, pulling out her phone. "I'll text him real quick."

As they made their way to the airport exit, Alyssa's mother mentioned that Tiffany had also been trying to reach them.

Alyssa rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "Ugh, Tiffany's probably going to give me a hard time for not telling her about our trip."

Her mother smiled. "Don't worry, sweetie. We'll deal with Tiffany later. For now, let's just focus on getting home and getting settled."

Alyssa nodded, feeling happy to be back on American soil. She was looking forward to getting home, seeing her friends, and telling them all about her amazing adventures.

As they walked out of the airport, Alyssa felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was happy to be back home, and she was also happy that her mother hadn't lectured her about her friendship with JoeGad.

Her mother had always been a bit wary of JoeGad's family and their wealth, and she had often expressed her concerns about Alyssa getting too caught up in their privileged world. But Alyssa had always assured her mother that she and JoeGad were just friends, and that their friendship wasn't about money or status.

As they made their way to the car, Alyssa's mother asked her if she was tired. Alyssa nodded, feeling a bit exhausted from the long flight.

"I'm just going to relax at home today, Mom," she said, yawning.

Her mother smiled. "That sounds like a great plan, sweetie. You deserve to rest after our big adventure."

Alyssa grinned, feeling grateful for her mother's understanding. She knew that her mother just wanted what was best for her, and she appreciated her mother's support and love.

As they drove home, Alyssa gazed out the window, watching as the familiar sights of New York City passed by. She felt happy to be back home, and she was excited to see her friends and start a new school year.

But for now, she was just going to enjoy the rest of her day, relaxing at home with her mother.

As they continued driving, Alyssa's mother asked her about her plans for the upcoming school year. Alyssa thought for a moment before responding.

"I'm not sure, Mom. I'm a bit nervous about starting high school, but I'm also excited to meet new people and learn new things."

Her mother nodded, smiling. "That's completely understandable, sweetie. You'll do great, though. You're a smart and capable kid."

Alyssa smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her mother. She knew that her mother always had her best interests at heart, and she appreciated her mother's unwavering support.

As they turned onto their street, Alyssa's eyes lit up with excitement. "We're home, Mom!" she exclaimed, bouncing up and down in her seat.

Her mother chuckled, pulling into their driveway. "We sure are, sweetie. Welcome home."

Alyssa grinned, feeling happy to be back in her own bed, surrounded by her own things. She knew that it would take some time to adjust to being back home after their amazing vacation, but she was ready to settle back into her routine and start this new chapter of her life.

As they stepped out of the car, Alyssa's mother handed her a small package. "I got you a little something to welcome you home," she said, smiling.

Alyssa's eyes widened as she unwrapped the package, revealing a beautiful silver necklace with a small crystal pendant. "Mom, it's beautiful!" she exclaimed, hugging her mother tightly.

Her mother smiled, hugging her back. "I'm glad you like it, sweetie. I thought it would be a nice reminder of our special trip together."

Alyssa nodded, feeling grateful for the thoughtful gift. She knew that she would always treasure this necklace, and the memories that it represented.

As Alyssa hugged her mother tightly, she could sense the depth of her mother's love and devotion. Carolyn Windsor had always been determined to give her daughter the attention and affection she had lacked in her own childhood.

Growing up, Carolyn had often felt neglected and overlooked by her own mother, who had been too busy with her career to devote much time to her daughter. As a result, Carolyn had vowed to be a more present and attentive parent to her own child.

Now, as she hugged Alyssa tightly, Carolyn felt a sense of pride and fulfillment. She knew that she had been able to provide her daughter with the love and attention she had always craved, and that their bond was strong and unbreakable.

"I'm so glad we had this special time together, sweetie," Carolyn whispered, holding Alyssa close. "I'll always treasure the memories we made on this trip."

Alyssa smiled, feeling happy and content in her mother's arms. She knew that she was loved and cherished, and that her mother would always be there to support and guide her.

Which was a given because how could she not? Allyssa was the apple of her own eyes.
