Chapter 1 - [ PROLOGUE ]

[ PROLOGUE ]

The world fell, and that was all in a week.

And now as a solo survivor who's nearing deaths end, I believe I too will fall.

[ "Shit..." ]

Felix couldn't help but curse at himself. At his own weakness, at his own insecurities, at the overall situation he found himself in.

Stuck in a dimly lit room, no electricity, no food, no drinking water, hunger getting into him, and sleep deprivation overtaking his rationale.

He regretted what he did, he should have risked it.

He should have gone outside days ago, when people were still in abundance; but now, due to his slight hesitation, his hope, his hope had run away leaving him alone.

Communications fell a day after the Apocalypse started, then the water supply turned sour polluted by blood, both human and not.

Then the military, the police, the barangays all fell like dominos which was followed by humans.

Then despair seeped in, as creatures that shouldn't exist bit-by-bit chip away at humanity's population.

Hunting the once proud and bold humans into near extinction.

The brave ones, they died.

The fearful ones, they remained.

And now the streets, the roads, the buildings that once were occupied by humans are now inhabited by Goblins, Slimes, Ants, any and all atrocious beings that shouldn't be.

He who's lucky beyond luck, couldn't help but shiver in fear of the monsters. And in fear of the future, on what he'll eat, and what he'll do; other than starving that is.

He turned to his side, looking at himself in the reflection of the mirror. Seeing his pitiful state which he hated.

Slightly sunken face, dark circles under his eyes, and a figure that resembles a stickman rather than a human being. The will to live leaving his body the more time passes.

Yes, this creature is human and this is him.

This is Felix Harp.

[ "I-I'm a sinful person, but why... Why!?" ]

[ "Why is this happening to me?!!" ]

He sobbed in his hands, not even knowing why everything was happening. But since the isolation, this has been one of the ways he entertained himself, so that he doesn't fall short into madness.

[ "I-I don't understand." ]

[ "I don't know..." ]

Blaming himself for his cowardly behavior, and for not doing anything other than watch on how those things... Demons with small green bodies— Goblins, massacre and torment everyone he knew and didn't.

At how he just watched the Lizardmen skewer people left and right indiscriminately.

At how Slimes devoured the leftovers, animal, human, foreign, or local with glee.

At how... At how, everything... Everything went wrong.

He sobbed.

[ — kiikiii! ]

He froze, as if something grabbed him behind not letting him move. What did he just hear?

He heard something, a loud shriel that sounded inbred. Stopping his breathing, he tried to listen carefully to the weird noise he was hearing outside his window.

[ — kiii!? ]

Goblins... Felix crawled slightly to his apartment's window and looked out.

His worst nightmares coming to life, as Goblins, the most disgusting, foul, and preimative monster creature there came into vision.

Hunting.

[ — ikikii! ]

[ — kikiiikii! ]

A Giant Boar it seems, which is more ferocious than a normal boar; and thrice the size.

A terrifying creature that renders humans or anything as nothing but pebbles.

And to Goblins who're smaller than a normal human, it is a shocking surprise how they could so effortlessly hunt one down, with a grin to their savage-like faces.

[ —queee! ]

Felix watches in the comfort of his apartment's room how the supposed stronger, more agile, more flexible Giant Boar gets systematically hunted down by the smaller, much slower, much rigid Goblins.

Which shouldn't be the case.

[ "H-how the..." ]

Though the Giant Boar could kill some of the Goblins, counting from where he is, Felix could see at the very least five (5) Goblins killed, with some not noticable due to them being buried, or due to them losing a limb or two; a huge bite out of their chunk.

But the Giant Boar due to the extensive fight seems to be panting, wounded, and out of energy. Looking closely, Felix could spot that the Giant Boar has slashes, marks, and even weapons sticking out from its body.

[ — kiikiii! ]

As it looked onward on the rows and rows of Goblin circling it, all having a weapon in hand. If not makeshift, then stolen already existing which shouldn't even be considered a weapon— he could see one wielding a metal bar which is almost as tall as the Goblin.

The others have either a dagger, a kitchen knife, a butter knife, a rudimentary axe, or a wrench.

And he, Felix who's seeing this couldn't believe what he was seeing fully.

[ — ikikikiii! ]

One Goblin, especially greedy compared to the rest spotted an opportunity and stabbed the Giant Boar with a knife.

Causing the latter to go berserk, and run around wildly. Looking behind it, it could see a Goblin grinning at it, while riding its back.

The remaining Goblins seeing an opportunity also climbed the hapless Giant Boar's back as they one-by-one, stabbed and hit the poor prey until;

[ — queeeeee!!! ]

It finally let's out one fearful, ear-piercing shriek that slightly discombobulated those Goblins that are around it. Even to Felix who's merely watching, above on the third floor of the apartment complex he is in.

Some of the Goblins quickly regained their bearings and with an annoyed look, hit the Giant Boar with as much strength as they could. Finally killing it, ending it's suffering.

Felix watches from aboveground how the Giant Boar slowly stumbles down, before hitting the ground with a loud thud.

The Goblins who are wounded, and some who have lost their limbs quickly sink their sharpened teeth to the prey that presents itself to them.

He watched how the Goblins devoured the Giant Boar in seemingly what could be called a frenzy.

The wounded, the bleeding, and those who have lost a limb slowly regain it back as they eat more and more of the skin, the flesh, and drink the blood of the Giant Boar with glee.

[ — kiii!! ]

[ "Damn it...!" ]

[ "I'm gonna murder you all, some day!" ]

Which made Felix, who hasn't eaten a thing in a day, drank any water in more than a couple of days, watched on with regret, and envy.
