Chapter 17 - Elevien?

Yejun was now wide awake.

He got up with a groan and moved to open the window, stretching lazily—but as soon as he did, a small bird yeeted itself into the room. It was tiny, with a weird color palette—like someone dipped it in pastel highlighter juice. Clutched in its claws was… a letter?

Wait—what?

Before Yejun could react, the bird bit his hand, dropped the letter on his chest, then zoomed back out the window like it had better places to be.

"What the hell was that about?" he muttered, nursing the bite.

He picked up the letter and opened it. It read:

As soon as Yejun finished reading, the letter caught fire in his hands and disintegrated into ashes.

He barely had time to say "what the fu—" before there was a knock on his door.

Just like the letter said, a teacher stood outside and told him to start getting ready.

With a sigh, Yejun grabbed his uniform and started changing. The uniform was… a lot. Layers, buttons, detail—it was like a full fashion show.

Yeah, no. Not his vibe.

Yejun rolled his sleeves up to show the bracelets on his wrists, untucked his shirt, unbuttoned a few buttons, and let the tie hang loose around his neck.

"Much better," he smirked at his reflection.

He grabbed his bag, stuffed everything in, and slid his wand into his pocket like always. But just as he stepped into the hallway, hoping for a peaceful start—

"Boo, yejun!"

"God—" Yejun jumped back. "It's like 8 AM. Shut up."

Doyun grinned, unfazed. "So rude. What class you got?"

"History of Magic. Now leave me alone."

"No way. I have that class too—oh hell no."

Yejun stopped walking. Was this dude serious?

He didn't even respond—just sped up, pretending Doyun didn't exist.

Whatever, he thought. He can sit somewhere else.

As he left the dorm and walked through the hallway, yesterday's memories crept back—the weird teacher, the creepy magic, the girl…

But no. Forget it. Chandra had warned him to keep his nose out of other people's business. Probably good advice.

The dungeon hallway gave way to blinding daylight as they stepped outside. Yejun squinted.

Wait. Hold on.

How was there a window in his room if he lived in a dungeon? That didn't make any sense…

"Whatever," he mumbled. "Probably just more weird-ass magic."

He hoped to grab some breakfast, but of course, his luck was garbage—and it was already over.

Doyun had disappeared into the crowd (thankfully), so Yejun walked alone. But then—

"Asher! Jae!"

His whole face lit up.

Asher turned around with a grin. "Ey, Yejun!"

Jae looked up from his book, muttered a quiet "hello," and nodded.

"What class you got?" Asher asked.

"History of Magic. You?"

Asher's smile grew wider. "Same! But Jae's got a free period."

Jae just buried his nose deeper in his book like he was trying to pretend they weren't all standing there.

"Alright, Jae. We'll see you later!" Asher said, nudging Jae's shoulder playfully as they started walking toward class.

Asher and Yejun walked side by side, chatting like normal. It was a chill conversation—nothing deep, just some dumb jokes, random thoughts, and occasional laughs.

"Ah, it's a shame we're not in the same selection," Asher sighed as they reached the classroom.

Yejun nodded, opening the door. "Yeah, would've been nice to not be stuck with weirdos."

The classroom was huge. Bright, tall ceilings, and open windows lined the walls, letting sunlight pour in and breeze flow through. Plants hung in corners and wrapped around support beams, making the whole space feel alive. It was such a vibe compared to the rest of the dark, creepy-ass school.

Some students were already there—getting their stuff out, chatting, or just straight up goofing around. No sign of Doyun, thankfully. Yejun let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Asher and Yejun snagged a spot at a table in the back—mainly because the front rows were already full, but also, like… who wants to sit at the front?

The desks were kinda weird too. Instead of individual desks or shared tables, there were five long rows—each one just a giant table that stretched across the room. Basically, if you were in the same row, you were at the same desk. Kind of annoying, kind of cool.

Yejun sat down, taking in the atmosphere. It was actually… really nice. Bright. Open. Breezy. It almost didn't feel like a haunted-ass castle school full of creepy mysteries and possible murders. Almost.

Still, he was nervous.

This was a magic school, after all. And as much as Yejun wanted to deny it all, there was no way to pretend it wasn't real anymore. It was real. The wand, the spells, the weird glowing shit… all of it. And honestly? That freaked him out.

Just as he was getting lost in thought—

"Oh great," he muttered under his breath.

Doyun walked in, slouched and unbothered, his bag hanging lazily off one shoulder. His eyes scanned the room like he was looking for someone—and then they landed on Yejun.

Of course.

Yejun was sitting in the back row, chatting with Asher. And yep, here came Doyun, already on his way over.

"Hm, and here I was wondering where you disappeared to," Doyun said, plopping down next to him like he owned the seat.

Yejun sighed, already annoyed. "Can you not."

But before he could keep going, he noticed something weird—Asher's face.

For a split second, Asher's entire vibe changed. He wasn't smiling anymore. His expression had turned cold. Serious. Almost… scary?

Then just like that, it was gone. He snapped back to his usual self and gave a bright, toothy grin at Doyun.

"Excuse me, I have to tell him something real quick," he said, tugging at Yejun's sleeve.

He pulled Yejun off to the side, away from the table.

"Yejun…" he said quietly. "Are you… friends with Doyun?"

"Uh, no? He just keeps annoying me."

Asher leaned in, voice even lower now. "Yejun… you shouldn't talk to him. I heard he's involved with some dark group."

Yejun blinked. "Bro, what?"

"I'm serious," Asher whispered. "His uncle used to work for a group called Elevien, and who knows maybe he still does!"

"…What the fuck is an Elevien?"

Asher stared at him. Then smacked the back of his head.

"OW—dude?!"

"Elevien is a group of people who use dark magic. They kill, destroy, and want to take over this world. No one knows who they are exactly, but there's someone they follow—someone called 'Master.' He leads them."

Yejun froze.

"...Master?" he echoed, voice barely a whisper.

Shit.

Weren't those the exact people he overheard in the hallway yesterday? Talking about a "master" and some creepy plan?

No. That had to be a coincidence. Master is a title, right? Just a weird honorific or something. Right?

Yejun tried to brush it off, but his thoughts were spiraling. He looked back at Doyun, who was chatting with some kid in fron of his desk, probably annoying him if we where completely honest.

Asher's words echoed in his head.

If Doyun's uncle was part of Elevien… and his family was rich and well-known…

Then maybe, maybe it made sense.

But also—wait..no—what asher said didnt that mean that—

Yejun's head was spinning, there was too much to process..just now Asher had told him that the leader of that group would get called 'master'... no but, it cant be right?.. It could be just a coincidence? But that wasn't what worried him— he already knew someone was trying to kill him what worried him was that-

Asher knew Doyun's uncle worked for Elevien. Wasn't no one know supposed to know who worked for that organization?!
