Chapter two
Serena
Just when I thought it wouldn't open, the car door pushed open almost sending me to the floor. I jumped inside quickly and shut the car door the same moment a black and brown wolf appeared before the car. I need no one to tell me they were the monsters chasing me.
"Thank you." I mumbled when the car screeched to a stop in front of__my breath seized immediately I saw the crystal white mansion. No...no...no. it can't be, what the hell have I landed myself into?
Running from two dogs hungry for blood only to land in the master of all's den. Geez, why is everything suddenly going wrong for me?
I wish I could wipe off that annoying smirk plastered on the two idiots faces as they each held me by my arm and dragged me inside to meet their master.
I scoffed as they roughly pushed me inside a dimly lit up room. "I thought you would put up a fight dear Serena." A deep voice said and I looked up.
"Is that the best you could do? Dang, you've lost your powers." I said and sat down on the floor.
"Sere-"
"Oh please, you're just a hybrid hunter or should I say hybrid slave hunter? Whatever, you're not an alpha and would never be one so get that into your skull already because I would never bow to you."
He laughed. My eyes followed him as he stood up from his seat and start to walk towards me. He stopped before me and crouched down. "You haven't changed a bit, have you?"
I swallowed nothing. Miguel had been a guard for my ex father since I was six leaving when I was fourteen. Whatever the reason is I still don't know and don't want to ever know, his sight alone irks me up to no end.
"You sure are going to fetch me a lot of money Sena. Hybrid are hard to find this days."
"I never knew hunters like you do call people fondly, it's a shame though...that your master isn't around and you're up and down running his errands for him." I said with a scoff. "Can you just take me to my cell or better still just kill me already. It's obvious you were paid to do so."
He stood up but didn't move. "You think you'll still be alive if I was paid to do something like that?" He chuckled. "I wouldn't say those two idiots back there in the forest weren't after your blood but trust me...I was paid to keep you away from them."
I tried as much to hide my snort but it still managed to burst out. "As if I would believe the words of a hunter like you but let's say hypothetically, I'm a hunter like you who only survive from selling wolves and hybrid, and then someone powerful and above me paid me to keep you alive. You think I would do so?"
"Why wouldn't you when the pay would be high?"
I hissed. "When would you sell me off?"
"Soon." He mumbled in response and pointed to the far end of the room which I hadn't noticed. "That's where you would stay the night." He said and just like that he was out of the room.
The night? That means I will be out of here by tomorrow, I pray I won't end up where I would regret for the rest of my life. I got up and stretched tiredly, my stomach grumbled loudly. A slight reminder I've had nothing to eat from dawn till dusk.
I fell on the bed and buried my face on the bed. "Celyn." I murmured and she whined in response.
'Do you think I'm unlucky?' I Isked and she whined again but said nothing.
'Are you angry?' I continued but still there was no response then I felt her stretched.
Good for you to be sleeping when I'm almost at the verge of death.
'That's why the word kitchen exists dummy.'
So much for having a rude wolf. I climbed down the bed but first looked around the room before I vamp sped outside to search for the kitchen. And if in two more minutes I can't find the exact place, Miguel would be submitting a corpse to whomever paid him to keep me alive.
Fifteen minutes later and I'm still searching for the kitchen. Footsteps behind me stopped me from taking the hallway that leads to where I'm yet to find out. I turned round and saw who the owner of the footsteps is. "What are you doing here?" Miguel asked.
"That should be my line." I said with furrowed brows.
He chuckled. "Last I checked Sena, I own here and you're a -"
"Prisoner?" I shook my head. "I doubt so, you wouldn't keep a prisoner inside a room meant for an important guest of honor, more still I wasn't cuffed."
"That wasn't what I wanted saying."
I rolled my eyes. "We both know that's the case."
"Follow me now back inside while I'm still being nice." He said, his eyes and voice cold all of a sudden but too bad, I've seen more to be fazed by just a cold voice.
"And sleep on an empty stomach. No thank you, and if we are still on the topic about being nice. I think you wouldn't want to provoke your client so please treat me well." I made sure to smile at him as I said so.
If there's anything Miguel hates, it's for someone to smile at him, he so much hates it and I so much intend to do so until he let's me do as I say and want.
If it were any other hybrid hunter, despite my bravado I would still tremble before them but now that I know it's Miguel even though he isn't the boss, I can't and would never be scared of him, he has seen enough of my problems to give him grey hairs already.
"Fine." He muttered. "The kitchen is to your right."
"That's more like it hunter." I patted him on the back and turned around walking like I owned his place.

An hour later and I'm back on my bed finding it hard to move my body. God, who asked me to eat more than I could stomach?
I laid on my back looking at the beautifully decorated ceiling. By now if I were to still be at the pack, I would be reading my favorite book and eating cinnamon cookies, if only I hadn't let my guard down everything would still be okay, even if it wouldn't be so calm and okay...at least I still would be bearing the Dovan surname.
I rolled and rolled trying to calm my over filled stomach same time trying to call on sleep, but it seems what I was doing has no plans of working because after two hours, I'm still wide awake and my stomach is as occupied as ever.
I slowly sat up and glanced backwards at the wall clock. A little past one. "Damn it." I cursed beneath my breath. I still have not less than five hours to toss on the bed, that is if I don't fall asleep.
I climbed down the bed and pushed open the window. The cold night air felt so good against my skin, a nice cold night for a race. Unfortunately, I can't do that.
I closed back the window and returned to the bed. My mind drifted to what Miguel told me earlier when those two idiots pushed me inside, who could possibly pay for my life? It definitely isn't my step sisters nor is it their witch in a mother clothing.
Could it be my father? I shook my head almost immediately, one of the guards said he ordered them to execute me but then what if they were lying?
Suddenly my ears picked up voices outside. Slowly I walked out of the room, the hallway looked empty. Did I hear wrong? Of course not.
The voices came again, this time clear as if the person talking is right before me. Ah, this darn vampire powers. I tiptoed towards where the voice is coming from.
Two voices of which I recognized one to be Miguel asked a question."What do you mean she's gone?"
"Sorry master." The other person said. "When I went to her cell to give her dinner, the door was wide open without a single trace of her."
"Fuck." Miguel cursed loudly. I leaned my body on the wall and folded my hands beneath my breasts. One part of me wants to return back and rest but out if curiosity, the other part wouldn't let me go.
"What should we do now? Zeeland hates to be kept waiting." The other person said, his voice sounds like one already panicking.
"You think he wouldn't find out we exchanged her? Are you a fool or what? Geez, darn it."
I moved to a safe corner and hid when I sensed they were done with conversation. Whoever this Zeeland is, for Miguel to panic sure is an intimidating person.
