(Hal POV)
"You're not trying to steal my girl, are you, Super-hero?" Hector Hammond asked. Carol was still holding on to me. I didn't have any experience with girls, but my mind and soul were too powerful to be influenced by a pretty face. I was in full control and simply let her have her moment.
"Ah-hem. I'm sure Miss Ferris appreciates the catch, but you can let go of her now.", Hector says and pulls her away.
"I apologise for that."
"Right", Carrol says, seemingly in a daze.
"Where'd those giant green hands that were holding the plane go? How'd you do that?"
[Construct manifestation triggered by force of will], the ring answered out loud again.
"Please refrain from speaking out loud like that and only speak to me telepathically or when we're alone.", I told the ring.
[Silent mode activated]
"You act as if you barely know what's happening yourself. I'm a scientist. I specialise in astrophysics. Alternative fuel sources and theoretical future science. Perhaps I can be of assistance.", Hector suggests.
"I appreciate the offer, Mr. Hammond, but that won't be necessary. I know perfectly what I'm doing.", I say to him and then fly into the sky. He is right, though; I will need to spend some time studying to help me visualise things much better.
The better you understand what you are creating, like the molecular and atomic structure, the easier and more powerful your constructs will be. But mostly, it depends on your willpower. And with my new intelligence, I will fill the holes in my knowledge to truly create powerful constructs and creations.
This will be amazing.

(3rd Person POV)
"Who is he?"
"Where'd he come from?"
"Are you alright, Carol?" Dr. Hammond asks.
"Carol"
"I appreciate your concern, Dr. Hammond. But one dinner does not make me 'your girl. ' You're an employee. And I've made it crystal clear. I don't date employees.", Carol says.
"I'm not an employee. I'm a consultant. You can't treat me like you do everyone else. Ferris Air isn't the only company I work-"
*VEET VEET*
Dr. Harris gets a message on his pager and then leaves.
"Tell your father 'Hello'."

(Hal POV)
I fly back to the spaceship. I can see Abin Sur still lying there and decide to put him inside a coffin. That would be the best thing to transport him to Oa.
I create a coffin and will for it to be as sturdy as possible. I will also make it airtight and keep the corpse in the best condition.
"Ring, I wish to go to Oa and get some training."
[Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814. You will report to Oa for training. Have a nice flight.]
*BOOOMM*
Without my consent, the ring takes me into the sky and through hyperspace towards the planet Oa.
The power ring grants its wearer access to wormholes in space, enabling the ring wielder to cut the time and distance needed for transport rapidly. The Guardians established at least one known wormhole to Oa, which once required the use of a power ring to enter. Which is the one I am passing through right now.
After some time, I see a bright green light at the end of the tunnel and suddenly appear above Oa.
.
[Descending from Hyperspace. Universal translator on]
"So this is Oa?"
[Affirmative. The Planet Oa. Central Precinct of the Green Lantern Corps and home to the Guardians of the Universe - immortal watchers and protectors of all.]
I am still getting directed somewhere until the ring speaks to me again.
[Disengaging autopilot. Tutorial off.]
I am suddenly left to my own devices. I regain my balance and land on my feet.
"Is that a human?"
"A human Green Lantern?"
"What's a human?"
All around me, the aliens are laughing at me. It seems that we aren't the most advanced species in the universe.
"Nice landin' Poozer. Name's Kilowog. Welcome ta ringslingin' 101. Or as Ke'haan and I like to call it ... THE WORST DAY A' YOUR WORTHLESS LIFE!", he screams the last part like a drill instructor.
"Oh, I get it. This is a boot camp. What about him? I found hi-", I want to tell them about Abin Sur, but he interrupts me.
"Get in line with the rest of the white circles and leave him to us.", he says and shoots an energy beam at me, pushing me back.
"This is where you primordial quadrupeds belong."
.
"The ring can make whatever tool ya need. Just gotta picture it in your mind. Will it to life. Force fields, energy beams, everyone see that?" Kilowog asks everyone while he has me inside a bubble.
"Thanks for the explanation.", I say and will for a zipper to appear on the bubble. With that, I open it and step outside.
"... You willed yourself free, Earthman ... quite a clever way to do it.", Kilowog says. "Now try catchin' this."
He says, and he throws a yellow metal frisbee towards me.
I create a baseball glove and try to catch it, but something interesting happens. I feel the frisbee cutting through the glove ... I am surprised about that and immediately will for the glove to stop the frisbee, no matter what.
The frisbee stops moving before it passes through the glove. I can feel that it took a considerable amount of energy to stop it, despite the weight and speed not warranting this.
"This took a lot of energy ..." I say.
"He stopped it ..."
"Incredible. Is he really a human?"
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"Don't you know? It was yellow. Everyone in the universe knows a Green Lantern's power ring is ineffectual against yellow.", a big squirrel tells me.
"He doesn't know nothin' 'bout the Corps, Ch'p. He's from Earth.", Kilowog says.
"Ask me, Kilowog, Earth's a backward world best left to their own.", Ke'haan says.
"You shouldn't underestimate Earth. There are beings there that would surprise you." I say, and they just laugh or snort, not believing a word I say. But they'll understand soon enough. Depending on the version, Superman alone could take on many of the Green Lanterns alone. Or all of them. We shouldn't talk about Silver Age Superman.
"You don't talk so much in the Corps. You do your duty.", Kilowog says.
"I don't even know what that 'duty' entails.", I say.
"To serve and protect your respective sectors and all life within them. Now don't get all puffy-chested, or I'll put you on your behind."
"I didn't even star-"
"Kilowog. Let me speak with the Earthman.", another alien says.
"What business is he of yours, Tomar?"
"He is wearing Abin Sur's ring.", Tomar says.
.
Tomar takes me flying somewhere.
"My name is Tomar-Re of Xudar. Green Lantern of Space Sector 2815. By all accounts, I am your neighbour.", he introduces himself.
"My name is Hal Jordan. Nice to meet you."
"Abin Sur's replacement in the Corps. My ring is unable to unlock his log ... how did he die?"
"He crashed his ship in the desert.", I tell him.
"His ship? He didn't need that ship."
"Then why was he flying one?"
"He did what no Green Lantern should. He allowed himself to feel fear. It happened because Abin Sur disobeyed the Guardian's territorial edict and pursued an enemy outside of his sector. He came into conflict with a group known as the Empire of Tears.
Afterwards, he grew increasingly paranoid. He became obsessed with Doomsday prophecies and prisms. Fractured light. Splintered souls. Nothing made sense."
"I see.", I say as we reach a special place. A giant book with the sign of the Green Lanterns on it is in front of us.
"This is the book of Oa. In it, tales of the Green Lantern Corps can be found. Abin Sur's tale is now among them. A tragic ending. One day, your tale will be here too, as will mine. A word of advice, successor. If you need help ... ask for it.", Tomar-Re says.
"I'll remember it."
.
After this, the training began for me and a few other newcomers. Kilowog was a harsh teacher, or at least he tried to be. I could tell that he was a good guy. At first, we had to learn how to fly properly and to train for this, we were led to an asteroid field.
We used that as an obstacle course in space. I took everything very seriously and never tried to show off or be the best at everything. Thankfully, I didn't have these urges or needs. I focused on systematically approaching every new challenge.
Since everything about a Green Lantern depends on his willpower, I wanted to start small and work my way up. I now had limitless willpower, which meant I could do unimaginable things with the ring. The only thing I needed was control.
I started slowly. I weaved around each block of rock and asteroid at a very moderate pace. I was the slowest member of the group, and Kilowog was there to make fun of me and the entire human race.
But I didn't care about that or what anyone said. I was myself and would do things at my own pace. I gradually increased my speed. I became increasingly familiar with my power and the ring's applications. I learned to use my boundless willpower effectively and with control.
I speed up more and more. I continue as the others grow tired and need time to recover mentally. I push myself more and more. I understand how much willpower equals which results. And as this goes on, I push my limits more and more. Funnily enough, I don't have limits in this regard. I can continue to push as much as I want to.
At some point, I became so fast that I needed to use my willpower and increase my perception to keep up with it because the normal enhancement didn't cut it anymore.
.
They thought I would get my ass handed to me. And in the beginning, that was somewhat true. I took it slow. After flight training for a day, we moved on to the next thing which was learning about the weakness of a Green Lantern ... the colour yellow.
I understood why this was the 'weakness'. After all, yellow represents fear in the emotional spectrum. And the weakness of will, which is green, is fear.
We had to fight against yellow mannequins. Our job was to use energy blasts to push them back. If they reached you, you had failed. No constructs were allowed; you had to push them away from you.
None of the new recruits managed to do that—except me. While I was doing this, I came up with a way to scale the amount of willpower needed.
1-100 WP, willpower for short, for normal Green Lanterns. With 1 being the easiest to do and 100 being the hardest for them. They can't go over 100 WP. If something takes more than 100 willpower to do, they are incapable of doing it.
100-200 WP for strong ones. This is for the stronger ones, like Kilowog, although he could very well belong to the next stage.
200-300 WP for the strongest ones. This category is for those like Sinestro and maybe Kilowog. This is the category to which the strongest Green Lantern in the Universe belong.
300-500 WP for the Guardians. This category is the last one for the normal ones. The Guardians are the strongest aliens who use the green emotional spectrum.
I am above all of them. My willpower is unlimited, so I can always be stronger, faster, and do more. The only limit for now is how much my Ring can take before it breaks and is overwhelmed.
.
I used more and more of my willpower to push the mannequins away. I understood that the newcomers couldn't do it since it took over 238 WPs to push them back. And I came to interesting conclusions.
Through training, I could achieve better results and essentially grow to spend less and less energy on the same things. It was like training Chackra in Naruto. If you practice more, you use less and less chakra for your jutsu. And that is what I could do as well.
If I did this well, I could reach energy control similar to what Satoru Gojo can and basically not spend any energy.
.
"Did he just ..."
"Push it back?"
"How can he do that?"
Kilowog looked at me in a different light after I managed to push it back. This was considered impossible, and for most, it was. But I was different. I didn't fear anything really. I was perfectly balanced in my soul and mind, and nothing would make me falter or doubt.
My willpower was infinite, and I could achieve anything.
