Chapter 9 - victory!

In the darkness and chaos, two silhouettes stood face to face, one with a golden-white aura and a blade with five crosses in her hands, three of which shone golden in the darkness, while the other was quite the opposite, emanating a dark aura and her katana held in her hands had a blade as black as coal and gave off a suffocating heat.

In the corner of the chaos, the hooded men stared at the scene with pale faces, the heat of the blade suffocating them even from a distance, and the drops of sweat that formed from their face evaporated instantly.

"What's this? asked one of them, his voice trembling and his gaze fixed on Mathias' new form.

"Haven't you ever seen an count transformation?" asked another, looking at him with a surprising expression.

"It's a transfer, just arrived from Africa" replied another, continuing to stare at the battlefield.

"Oh, I see. No wonder you don't know anything, vampires outside the Vampire King's circle don't have this form" replied the man, looking at the man this time with a pained expression on his face.

"count transformation? Vampire king?" said the man his expression apparently confused by all this information.

One of them, seeing his confused expression, patted him on the shoulder and said gently, "Well, I'll explain the new one."

The transferred one looked at his companion with a grateful expression happy to see that one was willing to help him.

"You see, in this world there are creatures that God didn't create, creatures from hell or from other dimensions.

and that", pointing at Mathias, "that's one of his horrible things".

"I know all about it" said the transferred one visibly annoyed at being taken for an amateur.

"Well", continued the other, unconcerned by his partner's annoyance, "this thing is a vampire and almost all of them come from the same person... the king of vampires Dracula Vladimir tepes".

"Almost" questioned the transfered.

"Yes, almost" replied the other, "those who don't descend from the king of vampires are quite weak and are considered by others to be a sub-species... on the other hand, those who come directly from the king of vampires are powerful enough to erase a city to the ground on their own, and these have a power, a transformation called the count transformation , which gives them absolute power, and some of them reach nightmarish forms and when they look like that they are capable of razing even a country to the ground with a snap of their fingers" he finished, looking again at Mathias.

The transfered turned his gaze back at mathias, his body trembling to these information.

He'd never heard of such a thing, and all the vampires he'd faced were certainly terrifying, but not this terrifying.

"How is she going to kill him" he thought

" if only the plan A had worked." He then said with a regretful tone.

"Too late to regret, we should have know that *this thing* wouldn't had worked on him " said one, "we should never have trusted that witch", swore another.

"Let's pray to the Lord for her victory," they all thought together and clasping their hands together.

Their gaze fell on the young woman, who in a split second Disappearing and suddenly reappearing in front of Mathias, she used a lightning technique and delivered a series of blows invisible to the naked eye. Her blade seemed to slice from several directions at once, aiming for the cracks in Mathias' defense, but a wall of flame appeared and blocked the sharp attacks.

as the flames dissipated, mathias held his sword aloft and Dan's downward arc of flame struck the woman, who parried the blow with her sword.

She felt a sudden suffocating pressure but the fourth cross on her blade suddenly lit up.

Seeing the fourth cross glow, she immediately stumbled backwards, "Why is it glowing?" she thought, visibly confused.

She landed and resumed her attack again, swinging her blade at Mathias who had lunged at her and swung a sharp blow, causing the two blades to clash and the fourth cross on her blade to glow brighter.

"Again?" she thought again. She repeated her attack, parrying each of Mathias's attacks, and tried to counter-attack, but with each parried blow the fourth cross shone brighter and brighter.

"The fourth cross is only supposed to act when the sword is broken. It only glows when the sword is broken and it's activated to be repaired... so... why?" she asked herself, still parrying Mathias' attacks.

She watched Mathias' attacks and noticed a distortion in space as he raised his katana again and brought it down to strike, but instead of parrying this time, she dodged and stepped to the side, letting the katana fall to the ground, and positioned herself to counter-attack and cut off his head.

The ground split in two, creating a wide fissure that could be heard for several meters and contained a large chasm.

The woman was so taken aback by the devastating power of the katana that she forgot all about her attack before noticing that Mathias had turned the base of his katana around, turning in himself ready to strike her neck. The woman abandoned her attack and instinctively parried the blow, only to be thrown against a wall.

"Damn it" she swore inwardly, but she didn't have time to complain when Mathias appeared in front of her and delivered another blow with his blade.

"Now I understand why the cross was shining, it was absorbing all that attacking power and was breaking inside" she was still shaken by this display of pure power.

"But I'm not giving up", she murmured as she followed up with another blade technique, and soon an illusion of herself appeared at her side.

Replacing his attacks identically to confuse his opponent.

"Fool" shouted Mathias, then pointed his red gaze at the true woman, not allowing himself be fooled.

"You think this kind of trick can fool me" he had to ignore the illusion and point his katana at the woman's torso.

"Ignition" he shouted as his katana ignited in a black fire and cut his opponent's torso, which was completely cut in two, coming apart leaving no flesh, just empty space.

Then the second cross on the blade began to glow more intensely, and the torso of the woman was immediately reattached and healed.

The woman immediately jumped back and when she landed looked at her torso, seeing no wounds she was relieved but her face turned pale and above all she began to tremble.

"That's twice already!" she murmured, still in shock, her gaze settling on Mathias, who had a toothy grin on his face.

"That's a very interesting sword you've got there, each cross gives you a different power. Mathias said. He looked up and began to recite:

"Let me see, the first is basic, just divine effects, the second a healing power, the third surely a reinforcement of power and the fourth seems to be a reinforcement of the weapon at attack I think because they can't break during my assaults whereas they're powerful enough to raze an entire district to the ground" then he lowered his head to the woman.

"Am i right" he said with a mile in his face causing the woman face to bécane more pale

"So now, are you gonna show me the five cross or do I need to force you to do it" he said in a mocking tone.

"you arrogant bastard" she said and then pointing her sword in the black sky.

"REPOND A MON APPEL MOI TA DIVINE MESSAGERE ET GUERRIERE" she shouted beginning to recite a incantation

"French again?"remarked mathias.

" JE SUIS...LA PUCELLE" she then finish and a light emanating from his body and immediately a white armor covered his body and a holy aura began to emanate in the area.

Mathias stepped back the aura given him a bad sensation, he wanted to vomit but something draws mathias attention in what she said.

"Pucelle... like...no it impossible." Mathias vanished the idea immediately and looking back at the woman who was in a battle position.

The fifth cross was now glowing too and the woman reprint the same position as his first attack during their confrontation.

"Again"? Mathias remarked as he positioned himself in a defense position but he could feel something was different with it but couldn't find it.

Then, the woman vanished but mathias could clearly see her approach in slow motion and prepared to dodge then counter attack but suddenly...

The sensation in the morning surfaced again the... the sensation that something was not supposed to be in his body. And suddenly the brain of mathias stopped to work making him unable to move.

This... caused the attack of the woman to hit him with full force.

Three flashes pierced the air. Three thrusts, delivered simultaneously.

Pain erupted through Mathias' body before he even registered the attack. His chest stiffened, warm liquid seeping down his torso. His gaze lowered, and disbelief struck him like a hammer.

Three perfect puncture wounds, barely inches apart—one in his throat, one in his heart, and one in his abdomen.

A heartbeat later, the delayed shockwave exploded behind him, shattering stone and scattering burning embers into the air.

The woman slowly straightened, her sword still gleaming with a divine radiance.
