After my conversation with Zoé, we left the courtyard and walked through the hallway to return to class.
Today i was finally going to meet our homeroom teacher, Madame Samaeki who had just returned from her honeymoon.
It was an important occasion, and I intended to pay close attention.
I needed more information for my investigation into my sister's death.
And I knew that somehow, getting information about our teacher might be useful to me in the future.
Once I had mastered Saya every detail about her surroundings, including her teachers could play to my advantage.
Who was Madame Samaeki's husband? Another professor at Onkawa University, or someone from outside?
I had learned that she had just obtained her degree and teaching license, which meant she probably didn't know all the ins and outs of the education system yet.
She had only been teaching for a few months… a novice, in a way.
Yet, she was part of this elite: a former Onkawa University student.
It was common for graduates who wanted to become teachers to return here to start their careers.
When I entered the classroom, I took a moment to observe the different groups already formed.
At the back of the room, a group of delinquents.
Boys and girls with an intimidating aura, at least for an ordinary student.
But for me? I really didn't care about that .
Some saw them as rich and spoiled kids, dangerous and capricious while others considered
them the offspring of criminals.
For my plan, I needed to get closer to them.
It wouldn't be easy, but nothing was impossible.
Especially for my two principal targets.
Near the window-side bench, there was another group of boys.
If I had to describe them… they resembled the typical "protagonists" of an elitist school.
One of them seemed more charismatic, probably the "leader" while another slightly in the background, seemed to be his best friend.
The others were just background characters.
On the other side of the room, their female counterparts.
Groups of girls, with two standing out more clearly.
I didn't know their dynamics yet, but given their closeness, they were probably best friends.
That didn't matter for now i would get to know them when the time came.
For now, I had to stay neutral.
I sat at the back of the class, in the last row, in the last seat.
Being in the back allowed me to observe everyone without drawing attention to myself.
A feminine voice caught my attention to my right.
Hello, Jessy.
I turned and met the gaze of a young girl.
She had an elegant look and a piercing stare.
You don't know me yet. I'm Fiona, your senior.
She gave me a confident smile before adding:
If you need help settling in, don't hesitate i will be here.
I simply nodded. Too friendly right from the start…. .
The third class hour was approaching.
I felt my phone vibrate slightly in my pocket, but I ignored it and put it on airplane mode.
A few seconds later, the classroom door opened.
We instinctively stood up when we saw Madame Samaeki walk in.
She was striking.
Long brown hair tied back in a ponytail a side-swept fringe, brown eyes, a voluptuous yet athletic figure.
She exuded a certain authority despite her young age.
She wore a black blazer over a white polo shirt, a short black skirt paired with stockings and black heels.
Another variation of her outfit seemed to include a tailored pantsuit with white heels.
A professional yet polished look.
She held textbooks in her hand and sat at her desk before greeting us:
— Hello everyone.
I'm glad to be back with you.
A student, Jin, interjected with a mischievous smile:
— Madame Samaeki, did you have a good vacation? You look radiant… especially with that ring.
A quiet laugh ran through the class.
Madame Samaeki smiled briefly before responding:
Yes, but let's not talk about my private life.
I hope you haven't slacked off during my absence…
She placed her books on her desk and continued in a serious tone:
Tomorrow we will have an evaluation.
You will be split into groups of four, and we'll finish with a sports test.
A general murmur ran through the class.
A physical test… That could be interesting.
I discreetly observed the reactions of the students.
Some were enthusiastic, others less so.
Me? I just smiled slightly.
