Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Jade Snake

A white light fills the area. Everything becomes an unfathomable glare of light.

Nothing is visible anymore, only the white color exists.

And then the light softened down, revealing a giant branch of lightning reaching out from the tip of the Destruction Wand.

Accompanying it are countless blue thunderbolts.

They all strike the City Theater at the same time, decimating its outer wall and turning it to debris and dust, at the same time also carving out a huge chunk of the snake's meat.

The Jade Snake roars out in pain. Its body slides quickly in the hallway, trying to move away from the danger.

This is the first time Blaze hears the roar of a snake. He thought they could only snarl.

After charging the Wand to its maximum potential, the lightning it produced becomes white, and it has become larger and stronger than the normal Thunderbolt.

Thunderbolt can easily break down a wall. This charge beam not only disintegrates the City Theater's wall but also causes massive destruction to the surrounding area.

Its penetration power is also admirable. The green scales of the snake were broken down like paper.

The entire front of the City Theater has fallen down, the Jade Snake retreats deeper inside the building.

It is a large and complicated structure with an underground tunnel. If the Jade Snake wants, it can really hide and buy more time.

Blaze doesn't have more time.

He pours the Force Shocker inside the Wand and releases endless Thunderbolts.

Blue lightnings strike repeatedly into the City Theater, aiming to take down the entire structure. Stray electricity claws onto the green scales, destroying them one by one.

This is hardly a challenge. A Crisis isn't even dangerous at all. Blaze thinks to himself.

And then, a circle of green light runs from the end of the Jade Snake and goes all the way into its head.

Its red eyes shine in the night, and its head looks at Blaze directly.

Its head has sneakily left the City Theater and ambushes Blaze. He doesn't even know since when it has approached him so close.

And then it lifts its head, and the eyes shine bloody red. The green light focuses on its mouth and shines brightly.

The Jade Snake opens its mouth, a ball of green light hovering in the middle of its throat. Then a green acidic beam shoots out aggressively.

Blaze only notices it when the beam has fired. He shoots the Grappling Hook to the nearby building, aiming to run away and dodge the attack.

The Jade Snake follows Blaze, readjust the beam to come after him.

Blaze flicks his wrist in mid-air repeatedly, bombarding the snake with several Thunderbolts. He aims to disrupt its beam attack.

None are effective, and the acidic beam keeps coming.

Blaze lands on a nearby roof and immediately ducks down, rolling his entire body away.

The beam shoots straight up, melting the roof he was just on into liquid.

Yup, it is dangerous. Blaze takes back his previous statement.

His entire body fuses with darkness again, no longer present in reality.

The Snake stops its attack. Its red eyes carefully scan the environment where Blaze was last seen. Its long, elongated tongue sticks out, vibrating in the air.

Thunder roars. The Jade Snake immediately turns its head toward the noise, but it's too late.

The blue lightning pierces into its scales, damaging its left eye.

It's howling in pain, blasts of wind blow out from its skin. All the green scales stand up like nails and all illuminate a green light.

The Jade Snake roars one more time before retreating inside the tunnels under the City Theater. It has learned that no good end can come out of fighting Blaze in an open area.

Blaze smirks, he lands on the ground and points the Wand toward the Jade Snake.

There's only a small distance between Blaze and the Jade Snake.

It looks at Blaze with its left bloody eye and its right crimson eye. It opens its mouth and once again shoots out the acidic beam.

Blaze shoots out the Thunderbolt. Both energies collide with each other.

The Thunderbolt's destructive capability is far greater than the acidic beam. The ground and structure around it are all disintegrating.

The acidic beam, however, has much better corrosive power. It is especially effective against electricity, slowly eroding its power.

The energy from the Thunderbolt gets pushed back.

Blaze frowns. He shoots the Grappling Hook to a different position and ends the Thunderbolt beam.

The acidic beam, no longer having any obstacle, shoots straight forward and melts Blaze's previous position.

Blaze turns invisible again and follows the Jade Snake inside the tunnel. He swears he heard it laugh when its acidic beam successfully pushed back his Thunderbolt.

Blaze uses the Grappling Hook to keep up with it, venturing deeper into the ground. The tip of his wand is holding a sphere of darkness, charging a Destruction Beam for an attack.

The Thunderbolt seems to be countered by its acidic beam. Blaze figures he should try the other Hidden Power.

The Jade Snake is smart. It knows to retreat, but it doesn't know that Blaze may follow it to the ground.

After receiving no attack for a while, it stops moving. Green energy again runs from its body to its head, focusing on its eye.

The tissue on it is slowly regenerating. Give it one or two minutes, and it should heal to normal.

But of course, Blaze gives it no time to rest. After exactly thirty seconds pass, the Destruction Beam darts out of the bone wand.

The black beam zigzags in the tunnels and avoids all obstacles. Its speed is a bit slower than the lightning bolt but still fast nonetheless. Fast enough for the Jade Snake to be unable to dodge.

The black beam shoots inside its left eye from upward, piercing into its brain.

The snake rolls around and gets away from the beam. The left part of its face becomes completely grey.

But it is not dead yet.

The Destruction Beam does not neutralize the Tattered Cloak's ability, so Blaze was not revealed. He continues to charge the bone wand again with the dark energy.

Even though Force Strike evolved three times and can be used in combination with Lightning Strike, Blaze's most devastating attack is still the Destruction Beam.

Its special homing ability and draining effect are still the deadliest.

The energy that was used to make the acidic beam now visible in the Jade Snake's scale. It spills out of its skin and forms a sort of protective layer.

The Jade Snake drills straight down from its current position, using the eroding energy to split the ground.

Oh no, you don't…

The Jade Snake is trying to escape. It knows it cannot win. Blaze won't let it get away.

He shoots the Grappling Hook's arrow to its head. His entire body is pulled with it, surfing the dirt it is eroding.

The Jade Snake has no idea that it has an arrow on it and keeps running.

Blaze lands on its body and puts his other hand on its scale.

His Force Shocker has a Shocking effect, which can stun an enemy for a brief moment. While combining it with Lightning Strike, all of Force Shocker's capabilities are converted into pure power, losing its stunning ability.

Blaze wonders if Force Shocker can work on this giant creature.

The Destruction Beam fires again. At the same time, Blaze channels all his power to his other hand, blowing out a strong stream of Force Shocker to the Snake's scales.
